Chapter 376: Do Good Deeds and Let the Future Take Care of Itself

After lingering in bed for a long while, Xu Sanyan finally found an opportunity to ask, “Have you already performed the Sixfold Blessing?”

Xun Ancai nodded. “Yes, with the long night approaching, we need to strengthen our abilities as quickly as possible. The dangers of the long night aren’t just food shortages; wild beasts will also risk attacking the tribe when they’re desperate.”

Xu Sanyan hesitated. “Then my fourth blessing…”

“Hmm…”

Xun Ancai looked conflicted. The last time she performed the third blessing for Xu Sanyan, she had faced immense pressure from the clan elders.

But she had already promised him, and she couldn’t break her word. After a moment of struggle, she nodded firmly.

“No problem!”

Xu Sanyan saw her hesitation and didn’t press further. He simply nodded. “Then I’ll wait until I’m ready.”

“Okay.”

The reason for the delay was that Xu Sanyan planned to deal with those old bastards first.

Xun Ancai stood up. “Wait for me at home. I need to go out for a bit.”

“Mm.”

Xun Ancai turned and left, leaving Xu Sanyan alone in the cave. Naturally, he wouldn’t stay put. He rose and headed outside.

He had already familiarized himself with the locations of the clan elders’ homes.

The Dog Clan was small, occupying only a single mountain. A main road ran straight from the foot of the mountain to its peak, with numerous smaller paths branching off to the clan members’ residences.

Most ordinary clan members lived on the mountainside, the clan chief resided at the summit, and the clan elders lived closer to the peak, not far from the cave.

Xu Sanyan couldn’t simply barge into the elders’ homes and start killing. He needed to create an opportunity.

Earlier, Xun Ancai had mentioned that the beasts of the long night were extremely irritable and, due to the difficulty of hunting and food scarcity, even more ferocious.

If that’s the case…

He could try luring beasts to attack the Dog Clan. Amidst the chaos, he could seize the chance to eliminate those old bastards.

An animal attack would inevitably cause casualties among the Dog Clan people, but Xu Sanyan didn’t care. As long as he achieved his goal, a few deaths were a small price to pay.

With this thought, he turned and began descending the mountain.

This time, Xu Sanyan avoided the main roads, instead darting through the mountain forests, doing his best to evade the Dog Clan’s patrols.

After successfully escaping the Dog Clan’s territory, he randomly chose a direction and began walking. As he moved, he cocked his ear, listening for distant animal roars, and slowly approached the source of the sound.

The roars grew louder, and Xu Sanyan held his breath. Faint sounds of combat drifted from ahead.

The distance from the Dog Clan was neither too close nor too far—just right.

Roar~!

Awoo~!

The continuous roars and howls of battling beasts filled the air. The two creatures seemed evenly matched, their struggle showing no sign of resolution. The darkness made it impossible for Xu Sanyan to identify the species of the combatants.

Suddenly, Xu Sanyan’s brow furrowed as a powerful sense of danger surged through him. Without a moment to think, his body instinctively lunged forward.

Bang!!

A heavy, muffled thud echoed from the spot he had just vacated. Had he hesitated even a fraction of a second longer, he would have been killed.

What was that?!

Xu Sanyan’s heart trembled as he glanced back. A Giant Ape-like creature stood behind him, its massive hands—each nearly half the size of his body—were impossible to miss.

A palm strike descending from the heavens?

Xu Sanyan drew his longsword, ready for battle. He guessed the Giant Ape had been drawn by the sounds of combat.

“Roar~!”

The Giant Ape roared, its face contorted in a ferocious grimace. Clenching its massive fists, it charged again, its enormous knuckles slamming toward Xu Sanyan’s face.

Whoosh~

Xu Sanyan took a deep breath, suppressing his racing heart. A surge of anger rose within him. If not for his keen senses, he would already be the Giant Ape’s next meal.

“Die!”

Xu Sanyan gritted his teeth. His longsword sliced through the air with a resonant hum, a fleeting flash in the darkness.

The figures of man and ape blurred as they crossed paths.

In that instant, the Giant Ape swung its fist, a violent gust of wind buffeting Xu Sanyan’s face. The punch felt like an oncoming truck, its power overwhelming.

Xu Sanyan dared not meet the blow head-on—nor did he need to. The Giant Ape’s strength was mediocre, weaker even than the tiger he had faced earlier.

Leaning back to evade the punch, Xu Sanyan swiftly pivoted, his longsword arcing upward in a single, fluid motion, slicing across the Giant Ape’s back.

“Roar~!”

The earth-shattering roar left Xu Sanyan unmoved, his heart filled with boundless malice.

Swish—

With an expressionless flick of his wrist, Xu Sanyan unleashed dozens of slashes in the blink of an eye, each strike sinking deep into flesh and cleaving through bone.

As the two figures passed each other, Xu Sanyan casually flicked his arm, shaking off a trail of blood from his blade.

Thud!

The Giant Ape collapsed to the ground, its eyes rolling lifelessly before falling still.

“Damn it, ambush!” Xu Sanyan cursed viciously, wasting no time as he began dissecting the creature.

Tss—

The long blade sliced through flesh, releasing a torrent of dark blood that spread a pungent, coppery stench through the air.

He then carved away meat and bone, snapping the ribs to expose the vulnerable organs within.

Xu Sanyan’s target was precisely these organs, their potent aroma more likely to attract wild beasts.

Leaving the Giant Ape’s chest cavity wide open, he grabbed its head with one hand and began dragging the carcass toward the Dog Clan settlement. The reeking trail of blood grew stronger with each step. Finding the scent still too faint, Xu Sanyan began hacking off chunks of flesh and organs, scattering them along the path.

Rustle, rustle—

A faint rustling sound echoed through the forest, signaling the approach of some wild creature. Xu Sanyan remained unhurried; he was nearly at the Dog Clan settlement.

Whoosh—

A beast suddenly lunged from the shadows. It had been stalking him for some time, its patience finally exhausted, choosing this moment to ambush.

Xu Sanyan’s ears twitched slightly. There were likely several wild beasts lurking nearby. Seeing his opportunity, he dragged the Giant Ape toward the Dog Clan’s territory, dodging the lunging beast as he fled.

His movement seemed to trigger a hidden switch. The wild beasts, which had been lying in wait, instantly stirred and swarmed out from the shadows like a swarm of bees.

Strangely, the beasts didn’t attack each other. Instead, they charged toward the Giant Ape’s corpse as if organized.

This was simply the nature of wild beasts. They prioritize easily obtainable food sources to avoid injury, and the already dead Giant Ape was clearly the best option.

Woof!

A dog’s bark echoed from ahead. The Dog Clan had noticed the commotion and would undoubtedly send someone to investigate.

Xu Sanyan dragged the Giant Ape a few more steps, then swung his arms in a wide arc and hurled the corpse toward the Dog Clan’s territory. Without looking back, he darted into the forest to the side.

The pack of wild beasts swarmed the Giant Ape’s corpse, tearing into the carcass in a frenzy.

Roar!

Woof!

“Damn it, the beasts are invading! Quick, alert the clan chief!”

Hearing the commotion behind him, Xu Sanyan grinned.

The beasts are a bit sparse, but they should cause some chaos. And since the Dog Clan is short on food, consider these beasts my gift to them.

With that thought, he turned and sprinted up the mountain.

Next, he would begin his act of charity: sending those old geezers back to the Dog God’s embrace!

Do good deeds and don’t worry about the future! Xu Sanyan mentally patted himself on the back.
