Chapter 384: Immortal Pill

Chunmei struggled to speak, “Hah… Please give your orders, Master.”

Xu Sanyan released his grip. Chunmei doubled over, coughing violently, a strand of clear saliva dripping from the corner of her mouth.

He wiped the saliva away with his thumb, then casually smeared it on her robe. “Go get some beast meat. Start with thirty thousand catties.”

“So much?” Chunmei asked, puzzled. She couldn’t fathom why a dignified Soul Refinement Cultivator like her master would need such a massive quantity of meat. But she dared not question him, obediently nodding.

“Yes, this servant will arrange it immediately.”

“Wait,” Xu Sanyan said, his expression turning serious. “Keep it discreet.”

“This servant understands.”

“Go then.”

Having given his instructions, Xu Sanyan strode toward the main residence.

It was the same familiar study, the place where Xu Sanyan always met with the Wang Clan Head.

The difference this time was that only the two of them were present, without the other Madams.

The Wang Clan Head was examining a stack of letters, which lay piled high on the table. Xu Sanyan glanced at the top envelope and saw the words:

“Praying Dao Sect”

Xu Sanyan raised an eyebrow. Was the Wang Clan Head still concerned with such matters?

“Intrigued? You can take a look,” the Wang Clan Head said with a smile, pushing the stack of letters toward him.

Xu Sanyan didn’t hesitate. He opened the envelope and began to read.

“Recently, the Praying Dao Sect held its disciples’ grand competition. Three individuals distinguished themselves. Liu Guang, age twenty-seven, cultivation level: Foundation Establishment Perfection…”

The rest of the letter contained basic introductions and detailed recent events, both major and minor, within the Praying Dao Sect.

He also spotted a familiar name:

“Luo Qingwei, age thirty-eight, recently achieved a breakthrough to the Mid Stage of the Dao Seeking realm, becoming the foremost among the Praying Dao Sect’s young disciples.”

Xu Sanyan had a deep impression of the Luo Family siblings from the Praying Dao Sect. Their strength was considerable; when Xu Sanyan was at the Dao Seeking Mid Stage, they were already at the Dao Seeking Initial Stage, only a minor realm below him.

The elder brother, Luo Changtian, perished within the secret realm during the final competition for the secret realm fruit.

Now, Xu Sanyan had reached the Soul Refinement Mid Stage, while Luo Qingwei had only recently broken through to the Dao Seeking Mid Stage. The gap in their cultivation levels had widened significantly.

Even Fang Qingge, the most outstanding member of the younger generation, no longer warranted his attention.

The Wang Clan Head handed him a letter, his tone laden with meaning. “Read this first.”

Xu Sanyan took the letter and glanced at it. His heart tightened instantly. Prominently displayed were three large characters:

“Vast Origin Sect”

When Xu Sanyan first arrived at the Chaotic Cloud Mountains, he had claimed to be a disciple of the Vast Origin Sect. He never imagined the Wang Family would actually send someone to investigate.

The Vast Origin Sect was impossibly distant, likely hundreds of thousands of miles away. Yet they had actually uncovered the truth.

These major clans are truly meticulous, Xu Sanyan thought. He had believed he had integrated into the Wang Family, but they had always kept a wary eye on him.

Xu Sanyan lowered his head, silently scanning the letter. It clearly stated that no record of a “Lin Fan” could be found, nor any information about such a person.

Logically, this was impossible. “Lin Fan” was a Soul Refining Realm great cultivator. Even in a remote region, he would be either renowned or at least known, never completely obscure. Therefore, there was only one explanation:

Someone was lying.

“Speak,” the Wang Clan Head said, leaning back in his chair, his gaze fixed on Xu Sanyan, awaiting his answer.

Xu Sanyan paused briefly, his mind racing. After a moment, he slowly began, “I am indeed not a disciple of the Vast Origin Sect. There were reasons for deceiving Lord Father-in-Law.”

“Hmm,” the Wang Clan Head nodded with a smile, seemingly unconcerned. But only he knew his true thoughts.

Xu Sanyan continued, “My real name is Fang Xiang. I am the holy son of the Harmonious Heart Demonic Sect’s Blood Refinement Branch. Recently, I was ordered to enter the Hundred Saints Secret Realm.”

The Wang Clan Head’s eyebrows twitched, a hint of surprise in his eyes. Holy son of the demonic sect?

No wonder his cultivation level is so high!

But the Harmonious Heart Demonic Sect’s power far surpassed that of the Wang Family. Why hadn’t he returned to the sect instead of coming to the Chaotic Cloud Mountains?

The Wang Clan Head sipped his tea, gesturing for Xu Sanyan to continue.

Xu Sanyan sighed. “Everything was going smoothly at first, but it all went wrong because of my Senior Brother.”

“Father-in-law, you may not know this, but the Hall Master of the Blood Refinement Branch has a son…”

The Wang Clan Head interrupted, “I believe his name is… Tu Wanshan, correct?”

He had heard of the direct descendants of the Central Region’s great cultivators, but as for this Fang Xiang…

He had never heard of him.

This was understandable, given Fang Xiang’s mediocre strength and lack of renown.

“You are correct, Father-in-law,” Xu Sanyan replied, slightly surprised that the Wang Clan Head, living in this remote corner of the world, knew so much.

“My Senior Brother is dead.”

“Dead?” The Wang Clan Head exclaimed in shock. Tu Wanshan’s father was Venerable He Yu, a powerful cultivator in the void harmony realm. Who would dare kill his son?

Xu Sanyan took a deep breath. “The one who killed my Senior Brother was Xu Sanyan himself. It was this same man who stole the treasure and was subsequently hunted down. He is likely already dead at our Master’s hands.”

The Wang Clan Head nodded slowly, his heart torn between belief and doubt.

“If that’s the case…”

Just as he was about to ask Xu Sanyan why he hadn’t returned to the Harmonious Heart Demonic Sect, he suddenly paused, his gaze sweeping over him with a strange intensity.

“Could your Senior Brother’s death… have something to do with you?”

“Ahem, how could that be?” Xu Sanyan coughed awkwardly, attempting to defend himself. “Lord Father-in-Law, you misunderstand. My Senior Brother and I were as close as blood brothers, despite having different fathers. On the day we encountered Xu Sanyan, my Senior Brother chose to face him alone to cover my escape. It was this selfless act that led to his tragic demise…”

“Ah… if not for him, I fear I too would have…” Xu Sanyan shook his head mournfully.

Bullshit!

The Wang Clan Head naturally didn’t believe a word of this nonsense. He suspected Xu Sanyan had simply realized he couldn’t defeat his opponent and chose to betray his Senior Brother to save his own skin. After all, what kind of deep brotherly bonds could one expect from a demonic sect?

No wonder he dared not return to his sect—he was likely terrified of Venerable He Yu settling accounts later.

The Wang Clan Head frowned, spotting another flaw in Xu Sanyan’s story. “You’re already at the mid-stage of Soul Refinement. Your cultivation level must have been considerable even back then. Even if you and your Senior Brother had joined forces, you still couldn’t defeat Xu Sanyan?”

Are all holy sons of the demonic sect truly this formidable in cultivation?

As far as he knew, Fang Qingge, the foremost young talent of the righteous path, had only reached the Peak Stage of the Dao of Bewilderment. Yet the Demonic Path could casually produce a Soul Refinement cultivator?

How could the gap be so vast?

Xu Sanyan shook his head in explanation. “That’s not quite right. Back then, I was only at the Mid Stage of Dao Seeking. My current cultivation level is thanks to a medicinal pill I obtained from the secret realm.”

A medicinal pill?!

The Wang Clan Head’s tone suddenly grew urgent. “What kind of pill? Are there any left?”

The Hundred Saints Secret Realm had closed only a few months ago. What kind of pill could allow someone to break through from the Mid Stage of Dao Seeking to the Mid Stage of Soul Refinement in such a short time?

Could this be an immortal elixir?!

Xu Sanyan shook his head regretfully. “None left. I only obtained two, and Xiao Xu has already consumed them both. The pill is called the Realm-Breaking Pill. Taking it allows one to break through a minor realm. Xiao Xu successfully advanced to the Mid Stage of Soul Refinement thanks to this pill.”

“Cough…”

Upon hearing this, the Wang Clan Head felt his heart bleed. This was a complete waste of a divine treasure!

If he had taken that pill…

Sagehood would have been within reach!

To further enhance his credibility, Xu Sanyan added, “Oh, this pill was refined by the Great Elder of the Yaotian Holy Sect. Rumor has it that the Great Elder… is an immortal!”

The Wang Clan Head’s breath hitched, and his heart ached even more.

It truly was an immortal elixir!
