Chapter 750: Low Bow

When Lance arrived at the naval base with the script, it was clear to the naked eye that the atmosphere in the base was very good.

Admiral Miles’s fleet had recently bombarded a seaside city of Dantra, causing huge losses to the Dantra side, and at the same time had attracted a portion of their forces, laying the foundation for the victory of the second battle.

The commendations from the military and the Department of Defense had already come down.

For Admiral Miles himself, besides the symbolic “Marshal,” an admiral basically had no room for promotion.

But the people under him still had room for promotion. For example, his children and nephews could all continue to be promoted on the basis of their military exploits.

This is how the factionalism in the military came into being and continued to grow stronger. To join this feast of dividing up the military exploits, there was only one way, and that was to join Admiral Miles’s faction.

However, none of this had anything to do with Lance. His car went directly to the downstairs of the command post, and Admiral Miles’s nephew came down to greet him.

His face was also filled with a very natural smile.

“Good morning, Mr. Lance!”

Lance also greeted him. “It seems you’ve been doing well recently.”

Admiral Miles’s nephew did not deny it. “We have completed the established combat plan given to us by the Department of Defense and the military, and we have over-fulfilled it.”

“We have destroyed two of the other side’s warships. The fleet is on its way back, and we will have a perfect vacation!”

Lance knew what he meant. This meant that the soldiers could go and have some fun in the city. He hoped they wouldn’t mess around.

As they were talking, Lance was already standing outside Admiral Miles’s office. His nephew knocked on the door and said, “Mr. Lance is here.” Then, Admiral Miles’s voice came from inside.

When his nephew pushed open the door and Lance strode in, he heard Admiral Miles’s timely laughter. “It’s been a while, Lance. Have you brought me some good news again?”

Lance nodded slightly. After sitting down, he crossed his legs. “It can be said to be good news, but it’s just in the planning stage.”

He looked at Admiral Miles and did not continue.

Admiral Miles looked at him with some confusion. After the two had looked at each other for about seven or eight seconds, he reacted. “Go and get my treasured cigars. They’re in my bedside table.”

His nephew also understood that there were some things that were not suitable for him to hear.

Regarding the fact that Lance wanted him to leave, he had no aversion. Because many more people had done so.

He also knew that for these two, he was a minor character.

He would not look down on Lance just because he was a gang leader. This was a man who could, with his wisdom, move Congress!

“I see…” he said and then turned and left. In fact, Admiral Miles’s bedroom was right next door. It would take at most two minutes to go there and back.

But after he had gotten the cigars, he did not go in, but stood at the door, waiting to be called.

In the room, Admiral Miles was a little excited. Lance’s style showed that this plan was very remarkable. He was already impatient!

“Can you say it now?”

Lance nodded and handed him the script in his hand. “This is the movie I plan to shoot. At that time, I will need to borrow some of the navy’s equipment, including warships.”

Admiral Miles didn’t quite understand. He picked up the script and casually flipped through a few pages, not reading it very carefully.

After confirming that there was nothing else hidden in it, he placed the script on the desk and asked, “And then?”

Lance was a little amused. He took out a cigarette and lit it with the general’s desktop lighter—

This was a silver lighter in the shape of a warship. The base looked like waves, the surface of the sea.

A warship was floating on the surface of the sea. As long as you pressed the captain’s cabin, a flame would shoot out from the front gun barrel. A very cleverly designed lighter. Some manufacturers always liked to make this kind of thing.

He took a puff of his cigarette, and then exhaled. A thick cloud of smoke rose above the desk, and also between the two of them.

“You must not have read this script properly!” He took the script back and casually flipped through a few pages. “Let me tell you the general content…”

He recounted the plot of the story in relatively concise language. As Admiral Miles listened, his brows furrowed.

He couldn’t help but interrupt Lance. “We can’t possibly be attacked!”

Lance looked into his eyes. “We must be attacked!”

Admiral Miles frowned. He looked at Lance with a puzzled look, and then snatched the script back.

This time, he read it very seriously.

He saw the middle part, which mentioned that the Dantra warships had docked at Yalan Bay for supplies, and had, relying on the Star Archipelago and the Federation’s warships, played a trench warfare, causing relatively heavy casualties to the Federation fleet.

His brows furrowed even more, but he also understood what Lance meant. “You want to exaggerate the threat of Dantra to us, and the strategic position of the Star Islands and Yalan.”

“Why?”

He still hadn’t figured it out. Of course, he couldn’t be blamed for this. The people of the Federation, besides fighting the natives and fighting a civil war, had not expanded or colonized abroad, so now many people’s minds were still in a fixed mindset.

They couldn’t think of these things, or they had thought of them, and then had ignored them.

An honest man, if not pushed to the limit, will most likely not raise his fist.

Just like a Federation that had not yet awakened its consciousness of invasion. They were still considering the capitalist set, wanting to get more benefits, instead of more direct occupation and plunder.

Lance took another puff of his cigarette. “Only by letting Congress realize the importance of Yalan and the Star Islands can you station troops in these two places!”

Admiral Miles was stunned for a moment and immediately reacted. He stood up, turned around, and pulled out a sea chart, and saw the position of Yalan.

His gaze was fixed on that piece, imagining what kind of strategic deterrence it would have on the East Ocean if they could station troops in Yalan!

Lance did not forget to remind him, “Don’t forget, if you can station troops outside, even if Congress and the Department of Defense consciously want to reduce the size of the army and military expenditure after the war is over, they will not touch this part of the funds.”

Admiral Miles nodded. He sat back down. “You’re right. I will fully cooperate with you. When will the shooting start?”

Lance glanced at the calendar on his watch. It would start next month, end in September, and be released in October, just before and after the Harvest Festival.

Admiral Miles hesitated for a moment. There were many grand scenes in it. Would there be enough time?

“You don’t have to worry about this. There’s definitely enough time!”

His Excellency the General thought for a moment and then asked again, “Then the congressional side?”

Lance’s hand tapped on the script. “After the movie is shot and has caused social attention and public opinion, the congressional side will not need anyone to lobby. They will consider these matters themselves.”

“At that time, I think the biggest possibility is that they will hold a small-scale internal hearing to verify the possibility of the Dantra fleet attacking Golden Port City, and also the issue of our taking over the military control of the Yalan region and the military deterrence of the East Ocean.”

“They will definitely ask the people from the military and the Department of Defense. This will need you to guide them. I will not get involved.”

Lance now also had acquaintances in the military. He just needed to let people know that this plan had come from him. It didn’t matter who went to tell them.

Admiral Miles did not refuse. He could handle this matter.

Then the two of them settled on some of the plans for the shooting, for example, to use a warship, to shoot on a warship, and also to borrow the military camp.

After they had chatted enough, he pressed a button on his desk. Soon his nephew pushed the door open with a smile. “It took me a long time to find it…”

A very false but mutually agreed upon explanation.

Next was the time for small talk. By the way, he also revealed a part of the things that could be said, for example, the matter of borrowing the naval base and warships for shooting, to his nephew. As for the others, he said nothing.

Lance paid great attention to this matter. The director also knew very well how much Lance valued this matter, so he soon found several directors.

These directors were also very interested in the investment of a million level. They read the script and talked about their respective ideas with Lance alone. This was an interview.

Among these people, Lance chose one who was more in line with his ideas, to promote the cruel side of war, not the romantic, beautiful director.

The director was in place, and the rest of the matter became much simpler. He had his own cameraman, he had a female lead, and after choosing a roughly tough guy male lead, the others were more casual.

For example, the villains in the film. They had chosen some Dantra immigrants, and also some Yalan people, to play the role of the Yalan running dogs who had assisted the Dantra fleet in attacking Golden Port.

Soon this highly anticipated movie began to shoot. Lance also participated in it as a producer. He had proposed many constructive suggestions.

For example, to make more models to restore the large-scale naval battles through special shooting methods, and also to use some thin gauze to simulate clouds and the like.

In an era without computer special effects, they could only use these seemingly backward, but actually very clever in this era, methods to shoot, and also included all kinds of real “editing.”

It was not until late May that the people of the Marcus family and the Thorn Gang came to visit together again. They could not hold on any longer.

Under Lance’s sufficiently sincere promotion, the Prohibition Bureau and the state police, as well as the various local Bureaus of Hazardous Materials, and the town supervisors, were all frantically sweeping through private brewing and smuggling, so much so that in many places, not a single drop of wine could be found in the bars!

But there was one exception, and that was the bars that got their goods from Lance. They still had wine to sell, and no one was finding trouble with them.

If at this time the people in the bars, the brewers, still didn’t know what was happening, then they would be too stupid.

Having seen Lance’s control over this matter, the remaining two major gangs in the state finally compromised.
