“Remaining Life: 37 hours.”
This time, everyone heard different things.
The longest time that one had was 46 hours.
Meanwhile, those with the least time had 27 hours.
All the Awakened ones present started panicking at once. The scene grew messy and chaotic.
“Did you guys…hear a voice?”
“Why did I hear a voice telling me that I could only live for 36 hours?!”
“I only have 33 hours left! What happened?”
“Will we really die after this countdown ends?”
“I…I only have 27 hours left! Save me right now!”
A thin man shouted as he trembled. He had the shortest lifespan among everyone.
Only less than 20 people remained calm amongs the large group of Awakened Ones. Chen Feng, Park Yunmo, and Sakurai Longzi were among them.
The three of them knew that there was poison in the fog beforehand.
If Chen Feng was not mistaken, this death timer had started because they had been poisoned after breathing in too much of the white fog. Therefore, they could only live for so long.
In thirty hours, they would rot and die like the fisher in the story.
“What happened?”
Blake, who was the only one who did not know about it, had already started shaking in fear.
This news was way too scary for him. His face grew as pale as a clean sheet of paper. He looked like he would pass out at any moment.
“It’s all an illusion…an illusion…This forbidden ground is lying to you. Don’t believe in it!”
Chen Feng had no choice but to whisper to him.
“Really? Are you lying to me?” Blake was tonguetied.
“I’m not lying to you…”
“We’re a team. Of course, I’m not lying to you!”
Chen Feng patted him on the shoulder comfortingly.
As Blake’s condition eased up a little, Chen Feng thought to himself, “I’m not lying to you…of course not!”
…
They had no choice but to continue moving forward no matter how eerie the environment was.
The fog swirled, and the mud in the swamp rippled.
There were also many corpses of algae and swamp creatures floating on the surface of the swamp. They would emit a pungent smell from time to time.
The bones of some strange creature could be seen from a distance away.
According to current existing human knowledge, the species of this animal could not be identified without running scientific experiments.
However, the one question that haunted everyone was…
Was this really the Gaotian Plains?
In Japanese mythology, this was the world where the supreme-rulers lived. The souls of emperors and princes would float up here after they died. .
This was clearly a place of faith for the Japanese…
Why was it in such a state right now?
Soon, a large skeleton appeared before them.
The skeleton looked like that of a bull, but it was more than ten meters long. It had a horn on its head, and there were many sharp bone spurs on its back.
“Is this a dinosaur?”
Someone mumbled suspiciously.
The appearance of such a large animal on land gave people the first impression that it was a dinosaur.
Many of the Awakened Ones walked over and maintained a distance of five meters from the skeleton before pausing in their steps.
If they did not know the origin of the skeleton, it was best not to approach it.
Chen Feng also carefully examined the skeleton in front of him.
Due to the passage of time, its organs had naturally rotted away, and there were a few empty holes on its face.
There were two hollow spots in its eye sockets, and a hole in where its nose should be…and… there was a hole in the center of the forehead?
“Does this monster also have an eye on its forehead?”
Just as Chen Feng was deep in thought, a man’s voice rang out from nearby.
“Look! There’s a stele over here!”
The crowd rushed in that direction at once.
There was no information about the animal skeleton, but the stele was different. Regardless of the era or civilization that one was in, a stele was definitely used to record information.
Everyone arrived before the stele.
Chen Feng was standing in the center, so he had the clearest view of it.
After all, everyone was only able to enter Gaotian Plains thanks to Chen Feng. Moreover, he had used the spatial key to open the ancient bronze door.
Therefore, most people still felt a sense of gratitude or fear towards him.
There were some strange symbols carved on the stone tablet. It looked like some sort of hieroglyphics. There were also some horizontal and vertical lines…
“What is this?”
Chen Feng frowned.
He was certain that this was not any language that existed in this world. Even before his rebirth, he had never seen something like this before.
“These are the characters of Barrow language,” Sakurai Longzi whispered.
“Barrow language?” Chen Feng asked curiously.
“That’s right. Our family owns some records about it.”
“During the Nara Era of Japan, which co-occcured during the Tang Dynasty of China, a group of extraordinary people appeared in the coastal area. They called themselves [Barrow] and were known as messengers from Gaotian Plains.”
“These people were indeed extraordinary. They could control the power of lightning. This ability was known as the [Barrow Lightning]. They also have a language that they use for internal communication, and this is called the [Barrow Language].”
“During 745 C.E., the Heavenly Emperor invited them to the palace. Three years later, in 748 C.E., a huge tsunami swallowed their residence, and the Barrow people disappeared from Japanese history.
Chen Feng came to a realizatiton after listening to Sakurai Longzi’s explanation.
He took in a deep breath and said, “I never expected there to be such a story.”
This period of history was not recorded in history books.
This was a secret that only descendants of aristocratic families such as Sakurai Longzi knew about.
“Then do you recognize the words on the stele?” Chen Feng asked with anticipation.
“I know a small portion of it.”
Sakurai Longzi nodded.
“What is written on the stele?”
“On the stele…” Sakurai’s eyes widened as she tried to decipher the figures.
“The Great supreme-ruler, Amaterasu…The Divine Palace…The Immortal Isle…The chambers of the supreme-rulers…The endless fruit trees…The supreme springs that will never dry up…”
“This is… the paradise of the supreme-rulers!”
