Chapter 1608: New Information

When Elder Hao and the others saw Li Yan, they were quite surprised. Without waiting for them to ask, Li Yan explained his purpose for coming. Elder Hao was very satisfied. That Li Yan would personally make the trip after the sect’s relocation showed he truly cared. This indicated he had the Soul Suppression Palace in his heart, making Elder Hao even more confident about returning to the Soul Prison Race in the future.

Upon hearing news of Tang Feng, Elder Tang couldn’t help but ask for details. Li Yan recounted their experiences in the Heaven-Slaying Prairie. Finally, Li Yan handed over the jade slip Tang Feng had given him. As Elder Tang and the others read it, they all wore smiles. That Tang Feng could adapt so quickly to the outside world and start traveling alone was inseparable from Li Yan’s careful guidance. From the few lines in the slip, one could see the relationship between the two was very harmonious. This was the result they most wanted to see; Tang Feng represented the future of the Soul Suppression Palace, while Li Yan represented the Soul Prison Race.

The usually stoic Master Blue spoke a few words to Li Yan, mostly inquiring about the state of the outside world. She no longer held any dissatisfaction toward him; instead, she looked forward to the future, believing the Soul Suppression Palace would one day become a first-rate sect in the Immortal Realm.

Li Yan then asked about the progress of their work. Learning that although they were working non-stop, it would still take considerable time, he could only keep the information in mind. Building a perfect base required constructing many formations, which couldn’t be done overnight, and there was little he could do to help. After explaining everything, he took out two Sky-Shadow Rings filled with formation materials. Having helped them before, he knew what kinds of formations they were building. Before leaving the Broken Army Sect, he had unhesitatingly taken many materials with him.

Elder Hao and the others were delighted by the materials Li Yan provided. Although they weren’t extremely rare, the quantity was massive and specifically suited for their needs. As Master Blue checked the rings, her purple eyes sparkled. Some of these materials she had only seen in ancient texts; the Earth-Truth Realm didn’t have them at all. To her, they were like treasures. Even Xue Tieyi clicked his tongue in wonder, laughing as he slapped Li Yan’s shoulder, causing Li Yan to roll his eyes.

Li Yan stayed for a few days to help Master Blue understand the uses of some materials before bididng them farewell. He couldn’t stay for too long. A few months later, he reached the new sect site. Upon his return, he was surprised by its vastness—it was at least six or seven times larger than the old site. The Broken Army Sect now felt “vast but sparsely populated,” but he knew it would soon grow and flourish as they recruited more disciples.

Shangguan Tianque and the others were delighted to see him back. They had mostly finished settling in. Cultivators, with their mountain-moving and sea-filling powers, could build a new sect very quickly. Shangguan Tianque had been waiting for Li Yan to return so they could collectively decide on an auspicious date for the grand ceremony. As for other matters, he summoned Yu Banjiang and ordered him to handle the arrangements. For such a grand event, the Pure Yang Hall would send representatives, so Li Yan and Mu Guyue knew they couldn’t avoid participating despite their preference for solitude.

After they finished discussing everything, Li Yan looked at Shangguan Tianque. Where was his new cave dwelling? He hadn’t been told since his return! Yu Banjiang had already left to busy himself, and Shangguan Tianque and Ren Yanyu seemed to have forgotten the matter. Seeing Li Yan’s look, Shangguan Tianque simply cupped his hands and stood up. Li Yan had no choice but to remind them.

“Um… regarding my new cave dwelling…”

Li Yan spoke helplessly, but before he could finish, Mu Guyue’s voice came over. “I’ll take you there.” He was startled to see her already turning to walk out of the hall. Shangguan Tianque and Ren Yanyu looked at him with mischievous smiles. Li Yan was stunned, but as a “seasoned veteran,” he didn’t show his embarrassment. He simply cupped his hands to the two and followed Mu Guyue.

When he saw his cave dwelling and sensed the surroundings, he was very satisfied with the environment. The spiritual energy was even denser than at his old dwelling. However, his cave was right next to another one; there were only two in the vicinity, and their gates were side by side. This was different from what he had expected. When Mu Guyue handed him a token, he pointed at the adjacent dwelling.

“Is that… yours?”

“Yes. Do you not like it?”

“Oh, no! I thought… I thought there would only be one.”

“We both need to cultivate. What are you thinking about all day?” Mu Guyue glared at him. As she spoke, Li Yan waved the token, and the restrictive mist parted to open his cave.

“Hahaha… nothing, nothing!” Li Yan laughed. He felt this was for the best; he had many secrets, so it was better to be separate from her normally. But as he entered, she followed him in.

“Today… no cultivation,” she said, raising her phoenix eyes as she looked at him. Her face was slightly flushed as she walked toward him.
