Chapter 1734: Sect Contribution Points (Part 2)

However, the assistant mission Li Yan had seen days ago was a single-person task; once accepted, it would vanish. If the person who took it failed, they would have to pay the indicated compensation.

‘The greatest difficulty of this mission is finding that Ground-Rhinoceros Purple-Gold Dragon-Python. Killing it is secondary. Just now, even Void Refining stage cultivators stepped forward to take this mission. And those people who look like they’re in a team… as long as they find the beast, they have the strength to finish the task. This mission is truly popular…’

After thinking for a moment, Li Yan also took out his token. With a surge of magical power, he quickly swiped it across the task.

Four years later, outside the valley of Huangqi Valley, a figure shot across the horizon and entered the sect’s great formation without hindrance. The figure did not pause for a moment, flying straight toward the Elite Mission Hall at the back of the valley.

Dressed in green robes, Li Yan flew through the air with his hands behind his back. Upon returning, he did not go to his courtyard but headed straight to the Elite Mission Hall to hand in his mission. Watching the various streaks of light flying nearby, Li Yan continued on his way. Once this mission was handed in, he would receive one thousand Contribution Points.

Over these few years, Li Yan had been relentless. While others spent most of their time cultivating or refining pills, he was constantly performing various missions. This had made many of the deacons in the two halls quite familiar with him. When others entered Huangqi Valley, they performed missions, of course, but primarily for their own cultivation. This Li Yan, however, was constantly taking one mission after another.

Furthermore, he always took tasks with very high difficulty. His success rate was around seventy percent, which was remarkably high. The deacons didn’t find this too strange, as there were always a few such people among the Core Elite Disciples. These were individuals who desperately needed a certain manual or treasure that required a massive number of points. For a period of time, they would work just as hard. Their needs likely affected their future cultivation, so they would dedicate a period to grinding missions. They would even risk their lives taking on high-danger tasks to reach their goals early.

Li Yan calculated in his heart. After completing this mission, the total number of Contribution Points in his token would be around fifty thousand. Over these years, he had constantly taken high-risk missions and ignored the ordinary ones. For example, during the mission to find the horn of the fifth-rank Ground-Rhinoceros Purple-Gold Dragon-Python, in order to beat the Void Refining experts, he had used his “Phoenix Soaring” technique for long durations. Ultimately, he managed to find the beast first.

The combat power of a fifth-rank dragon-python was quite formidable, and a battle of that level could easily attract other cultivators or powerful beasts. To kill it before others arrived, Li Yan had ultimately used both his Kui Water Sect techniques and his Soul Arts, allowing him to slay the beast in the shortest possible time.

However, these high-reward missions were not always easy. Li Yan had his share of wins and losses. He had taken on some restrictive missions that he failed to complete, which forced him to pay a significant amount of points and spirit stones as compensation. It had pained him deeply at the time. But every time, he preferred to pay more spirit stones to preserve as many Contribution Points as possible. This was how he had maintained his current balance.

Li Yan soon saw a grand palace built entirely of snowy-white jade, looking magnificent. From a distance, a halo of white light radiated from the exterior walls, giving it a solemn and majestic air. This was the Elite Mission Hall. Li Yan landed on the platform in front of the palace when he was still a hundred yards away.

The sun was setting, and the sky was about to turn dark. A few stars had already appeared in the blue-black sky. Although cultivators were still coming and going, there were far fewer than during the day. After Li Yan landed, his aura vanished, and he walked forward.

“Oh, Fellow Daoist Li!”

He had only walked a few steps when someone approached him. Recognizing Li Yan, the man cupped his hands as he walked.

“Greetings, Fellow Daoist Zhang!” Li Yan quickly returned the gesture. After the greeting, the man hurried away.

“Fellow Daoist Li, have you been on a mission again?” Another person greeted him as he walked.

“Fellow Daoist Sheng looks radiant; I assume you’ve just handed in a mission!” Li Yan smiled at the man. Anyone coming out of here who hadn’t lost spirit stones or points would be in a good mood.

Over these years, Li Yan had met many disciples at the Elite Mission Hall. There were those he had teamed up with, those he had become familiar with through frequent meetings, and even rivals he had encountered during missions. Because Li Yan was humble, anyone who wasn’t looking for trouble would generally acknowledge him with a nod.

Li Yan greeted several more people along the way before stepping into the palace. A soft, pale yellow light shone from within, casting Li Yan’s shadow long behind him against the darkening sky, adding a sense of peace to the evening.

Li Yan walked familiarly toward a side hall. After greeting a few more people, he stepped inside. The side hall was about a hundred yards wide. A row of tables stood before the far wall, leaving a large open space. Behind the tables, white-robed sect cultivators sat at intervals of about three yards. These cultivators were mostly at the Nascent Soul realm. Small queues of people waited in front of them, though the longest queue had only five or six people now.

Li Yan scanned the room and immediately walked toward a specific spot where only two people were waiting. As he reached the back of the queue, the person at the front finished their business and departed. The remaining person looked back at Li Yan, and seeing that he didn’t recognize him, turned his focus back to the deacon behind the table.

After a few minutes, it was finally Li Yan’s turn. There were even fewer people in the hall now, and some tables were vacant.

“Senior Li, it seems another mission has been completed!” The Nascent Soul cultivator behind the table was a man with a ruddy, round face. He looked full of energy and spirit. Li Yan knew this was because the man practiced Fire-based techniques. He was familiar with this man, which was why he had come straight here.

“It went well. I see that Fellow Daoist Sun’s aura is close to the Spirit Transformation stage. I congratulate you in advance!” Li Yan smiled and handed over his token.

The Nascent Soul cultivator named Sun smiled back as he took the token. “Thank you for the kind words, Senior. This disciple has merely had some insights recently. I have no idea when I might actually succeed in achieving Spirit Transformation.”

Deacon Sun had a good impression of Li Yan. This man always spoke softly to others and treated Nascent Soul cultivators like them with equal respect. Therefore, many of the Nascent Soul deacons were willing to chat with him, fostering a good relationship.

Li Yan did not speak further but stood there smiling and waiting. Before long, just as Deacon Sun withdrew his Divine Sense, Li Yan brushed his hand across the table without being prompted. A purple flower about the size of a fist, sparkling with points of light, appeared on the table. Deacon Sun nodded to Li Yan and began to inspect the sparkling purple flower with great care.
