Chapter 497: Spirit Energy Assault

After recombining these genes and purging inferior ones, the chimera lifeform’s strength would increase dramatically.

In essence, each resurrected chimera lifeform would emerge even more powerful than before.

Reading this, Feng Qi suddenly realized why it felt familiar.

He had encountered this superorganism in the Future Dream Realm.

During his visits to the Future Dream Realm, his movements consistently followed a west-to-east trajectory.

However, on one occasion, he was pursued by dozens of Goat-Headed Demons. Assuming they meant him harm, he urgently fled north, eventually stumbling into a mysterious region filled with brightly colored eggs.

After entering the egg-laden area, several eggs were disturbed. Twisted, grotesque creatures hatched from within and attacked him.

These creatures were remarkably weak and easily dispatched.

The problem was that after killing them, he gained no qi blood and failed to plunder any innate abilities.

The slain twisted lifeform dissolved into a stream of energy, surging into nearby monster eggs. The twisted lifeforms that hatched anew from these eggs exhibited significant enhancements in both size and strength.

After examining the strange lifeform’s condition, the Narrator reached a conclusion similar to the document’s description:

The twisted lifeforms within all the monster eggs were essentially a single entity. Killing one would not grant innate abilities or qi blood unless all the eggs were destroyed, thereby completely annihilating this super lifeform.

Looking back, the failed chimera demon experiment described in the document was likely the very creature he would encounter in the future.

At the bottom of the document, there was a brief outline of proposed improvements for creating chimera demons.

The Scarlet Research Institute had also proposed similar concepts, but their ideas were far less refined than those detailed in the document.

Having no interest in chimera lifeforms, he immediately set the document aside and scanned the vast laboratory.

The sprawling laboratory was littered with documents, blueprints, and data. Finding information related to Little Black among the scattered papers would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.

But with no other options, he had to resort to the most primitive method of information retrieval.

He lowered his head and continued flipping through the documents and data around him.

Outside.

The relentless battles had caused the Technology Research Institute’s base plaza to collapse and sink. The aftershocks had also devastated the headquarters building, with its upper half completely destroyed.

The fighting raged on.

Facing elite domain warriors swarming from all directions, desperate to kill her, Mu Qing’s eyes flashed with murderous intent.

She realized Feng Qi had already followed the black shadow into the institute’s headquarters.

While she wasn’t entirely confident in Feng Qi’s ability to defeat the black shadow, she was determined to follow him in as quickly as possible to stabilize the situation.

Thus, she showed no mercy to the elite human warriors blocking her path.

By this point in the battle, she had already killed thirty-eight of them.

Her gaze swept across the battlefield, jade-colored arcs of electricity crackling across her skin. With a flicker of movement, she appeared before a warrior blocking her way.

The warrior reacted swiftly, raising his warhammer to strike as Mu Qing closed in.

Crack!

The warhammer, forged from special metal, shattered instantly against Mu Qing’s overwhelming strength, splintering into fragments with a crisp snap.

The wind whipped Mu Qing’s hair as her fist continued its forward momentum, piercing through the warrior’s chest.

Bang!

Flesh and bone exploded in an instant.

Mu Qing continued her charge, slamming violently into an energy barrier that had materialized out of thin air.

With a crackling flash of electricity, the once-impenetrable barrier thinned rapidly before shattering into countless motes of spiritual energy that scattered across the sky.

Facing the figures rushing toward her, Mu Qing unleashed her second charged punch.

The explosive force erupted in a howling gale, colliding with the combined energy wave unleashed by the domain warriors.

After a brief moment of stillness, the sudden surge of power erupted in a miniature mushroom cloud.

Amidst the billowing smoke and dust, only Mu Qing’s scarlet eyes gleamed through the haze.

Just as Mu Qing prepared to brute-force her way through the remaining defenders, a violent spatial distortion tore through the sky above. Terrifying energy aftershocks cascaded downward, scattering the swirling dust and earth.

Mu Qing and the domain warriors alike tilted their heads to gaze upward.

A twisted, blue spatial portal had materialized in the sky, expanding at an alarming rate. It gave the eerie impression of devouring the world itself.

Beyond the portal lay a sky of an entirely different hue.

At that moment, countless black shadows emerged from the spatial portal.

Their bodies were pitch-black, and golden leaf-shaped marks were branded on their foreheads. Their forms, constructed entirely of energy, radiated terrifying energy fluctuations.

Eighteen figures in total, they hovered in the air, gazing down at the scene below.

After a brief exchange of glances, the lead black shadow waved its hand, conjuring a blue orb of light in its palm. It then hurled the orb downward.

The blue orb tumbled through the air and exploded violently just before striking the ground.

A blue shockwave erupted from the point of impact, spreading rapidly outward.

Mu Qing and the domain warriors immediately sensed something was amiss. They discovered that within the area swept by the blue shockwave, all free-floating spiritual energy particles had vanished from the air.

Under normal circumstances, even if the spiritual energy in a region was completely depleted, it would quickly replenish itself.

But this area was now utterly devoid of spiritual energy, and no external spiritual energy was flowing in to replace it.

Everyone present immediately realized that this phenomenon was clearly connected to the blue orb thrown by the mysterious invaders.

After exploding, it seemed to have dispersed all spiritual energy within a certain radius and, for a short time, prevented external spiritual energy from entering the area.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the domain warriors’ expressions darkened.

This meant that in the upcoming battle, every ounce of spiritual energy they expended would be irreplaceable, with no external replenishment possible.

The mysterious visitor had deliberately created this spiritual energy vacuum to better control the battlefield.

As for whether this visitor was friend or foe, the domain warriors harbored no illusions.

Cooperation between humans and domain creatures was simply impossible.

Meanwhile, Mu Qing gazed up at the eighteen figures hovering in the air.

She sensed terrifying waves of energy emanating from them, immediately recognizing that the Spirit Energy Clan had arrived.

Feng Qi had told her about this, including the fact that the black shadow had once been a traitor to the Spirit Energy Clan.

The current situation made it clear that members of the Spirit Energy Clan had come seeking the black shadow who had stolen the miracle item.

A fierce battle intent ignited in Mu Qing’s eyes.

Jade-colored arcs of electricity crackled around her body as she unleashed a terrifying pressure upward, clashing and colliding with the spiritual energy pressure radiating from the Spirit Energy Clan members.

Mu Qing’s overwhelming aura immediately drew the attention of all eighteen Spirit Energy Clan members.

A cold gaze instantly locked onto Mu Qing.

As their eyes met, scarlet flames ignited in Mu Qing’s eyes.

To her, the identity of her opponent mattered not. Anyone who dared obstruct Feng Qi’s path would face death!

At that moment, she slowly clenched her right hand into a fist, directing the provocative gesture toward the Spirit Energy Clan members.
