Chapter 507: The Curse's Onslaught

With Mu Qing’s arrival, Feng Qi’s suspended heart finally settled.

The Spirit Energy Clan was still locked in a stalemate with Little Black, creating the perfect opportunity to escape.

He stepped out at that moment and waved to Mu Qing.

Mu Qing immediately turned to look.

When she saw Feng Qi in his Bone Man Form, her expression showed surprise, but she quickly recognized him.

After a brief pause, she flashed to his side.

Feng Qi, his arm now caught, projected his voice through telekinetic resonance:

“Wait! Grab some documents before we go!”

He crouched down and began raking through the blueprints and documents scattered across the ground.

The aftershocks of the battle between the Spirit Energy Clan and Little Black had torn many documents to shreds, leaving them incomplete.

But Feng Qi couldn’t afford to be picky.

He had to take as much as he could now.

He suspected the Spirit Energy Clan wouldn’t hold out much longer. Once Little Black finished with them, he and Mu Qing would become his next targets.

If Little Black set his sights on them, escaping would become nearly impossible.

Even if they fled to the Scarlet Secret Base, there was no guarantee Little Black wouldn’t pursue them.

Time was of the essence.

Mu Qing crouched down, helping him gather the scattered blueprints and documents.

After gathering a stack of blueprints, Feng Qi looked up at the Spirit Energy Clan members still locked in a stalemate with Little Black.

The divine script’s restriction on Little Black was weakening rapidly.

The Spirit Energy Clan was clearly struggling to hold him back, yet they dared not release their grip.

Little Black’s mist-like tentacles were less than two meters away. If he relaxed his hold, the seventh elder at the forefront would be the first to be engulfed by the black mist.

From their recent clash, they clearly understood Little Black’s energy-devouring ability.

Their bodies were entirely composed of energy. Any contact with Little Black would make it difficult to even retain their remains.

Not daring to linger, Feng Qi looked at Mu Qing and said, “Senior Sister, let’s go!”

Mu Qing nodded solemnly.

She swiftly moved to his side and hoisted him onto her back.

Flowing jade light flowed across Mu Qing’s body. She slowly lowered her head, then transformed into a streak of jade-colored light, streaking toward the exit of the Technology Research Institute headquarters.

Seeing this, the Spirit Energy Clan members, still locked in a stalemate with Little Black, wore grim expressions.

The moment they realized Mu Qing had arrived, they understood one thing:

Their clansman “Hei Gu,” who had been monitoring the situation outside, must have been killed. Otherwise, this mysterious woman wouldn’t have arrived at this moment.

Yet they still couldn’t comprehend how this overwhelmingly powerful woman had broken through the five senses seal.

Although annihilation was a flawed miracle artifact, its power remained formidable.

If this woman possessed Pillar God-like transcendent power capable of breaking the seal, they wouldn’t have found it strange.

But the truth was, while her abilities were formidable, she was nowhere near the level of transcendence required to challenge a Pillar God.

Facing a seal that blocked all five senses, even the strongest physical body should have been unable to break through.

As they struggled to comprehend this, the seventh elder and other Spirit Energy Clan members felt a heavy weight settle in their hearts.

This expedition to capture Hei Lin had been meticulously prepared, and they had brought two precious miracle artifacts: Retrace and annihilation, even deploying divine script.

Yet, to their surprise, they had failed repeatedly. Not only had they gained nothing, but they were now trapped in place, facing certain death.

At this moment, Little Black’s misty tendrils were advancing with increasing speed.

The seventh elder turned and spoke in a deep, solemn voice:

“You all go first! I’ll hold it back!”

Hearing this, the faces of the other Spirit Energy Clan members revealed astonishment.

Suddenly, they understood the seventh elder’s intentions.

Even their combined strength was no match for this mysterious substance. The seventh elder’s decision to stay behind was clearly to sacrifice himself and buy them time to escape.

“You are all the rising stars of the Spirit Energy Clan, the future of our people. I may die, but you must live… When I give the command, retreat together.”

Looking at the seventh elder, whose eyes already held the resolve of death, the other Spirit Energy Clan members felt a complex mix of emotions.

But they understood that the seventh elder was right.

Committing to a suicidal act together was utterly irrational; it was better to sacrifice one to ensure the safety of the others.

“Seventh Elder, let me do it!” Hei Sha, gravely wounded, declared resolutely.

“Silence! If you truly care, avenge me in the future!”

With that, the seventh elder turned to face the encroaching Little Black.

The golden light in his eyes surged violently.

“Listen to me… Retreat!” the seventh elder roared.

As his words fell, the other members of the Spirit Energy Clan withdrew their hands and retreated from the top secret room.

Watching the seventh elder charge toward Little Black, their eyes filled with reluctance and hatred.

Under their gaze, the seventh elder roared at Little Black, golden energy piercing through the creature’s pitch-black body. He unleashed a spirit energy storm, attempting to drag Little Black to their mutual destruction.

The terrifying energy shattered everything within the top secret room, trying to crush Little Black.

But a miracle did not occur.

As the violent spirit energy storm collided with Little Black, its power rapidly diminished. Little Black’s size, meanwhile, grew rapidly as it devoured the energy.

The spirit energy storm was gradually enveloped by black mist, visibly shrinking before finally vanishing, leaving the top secret room in eerie calm.

Feng Qi and Mu Qing had reached the core zone of the Technology Research Institute and were now sprinting toward the exit of the Headquarters Building at breakneck speed.

Mu Qing ran so fast that the surroundings blurred into a streak in Feng Qi’s vision, like motion blur in a video game.

Her superhuman physique could withstand the strain of high-speed movement, but her body was starting to give out. Several shattered bone fragments had already fallen from her as she ran.

But to her, it no longer mattered.

Let the bones fall. This body is already a wreck anyway.

The most urgent task was to escape the Technology Research Institute as quickly as possible. If the Spirit Energy Clan faltered, any lifeforms within range would become Little Black’s next targets for devouring.

Mu Qing was incredibly strong, but whether she could defeat Little Black remained uncertain. All their current methods had proven ineffective against the creature. Even if she could suppress it temporarily, Little Black’s relentless pressure would eventually wear her down.

“After we leave, contact the various regiments to withdraw. The most important thing now is to get these materials back to Star City and hand them over to the Scarlet Research Institute. We no longer have the capacity to push this war front further towards Old Day City.”

Hearing this, Mu Qing immediately nodded and replied, “Alright!”

In Feng Qi’s initial plans for the war front, Future City was just one stop.

If the Dawn Army had the strength, he would have continued leading the dawn warriors towards Old Day City. Even if they couldn’t capture the city, they could have tried to break through Twilight City mid-way and search for the mysterious laboratory beneath it.

But after witnessing the Spirit Energy Clan’s capabilities, he knew the Dawn Army’s combat power was vastly inferior to theirs.

Moreover, continuing the war would only lead to greater resistance later.

The arrival of domain combat teams from various factions to stop the war was one such variable.

At this point, the best course of action was to retreat to Star City and deliver the materials from the top secret room to the Scarlet Research Institute.
