Chapter 528: White Flower Field
The plan to clone Mu Qing also shifted from creating a world-saving warrior to creating a super soldier specifically designed to support Suction Cup.
The Scarlet Research Institute’s definition of Suction Cup had fundamentally changed.
This was especially true for the War Timeline.
From the moment Suction Cup was cloned, she was destined to fight Little Black to the death.
This was the mission implanted in her mind:
Protect Feng Qi.
These three words carried immense weight.
A 1500-year slumber, all for the sake of awakening to face an unbeatable enemy.
If the idealized future were to come to fruition, Suction Cup would have no reason to exist.
Her existence was predicated on Mu Qing’s sacrifice.
But if a perfect future were ever achieved, Mu Qing would not die, and Suction Cup would never be born.
At that moment, Feng Qi felt an overwhelming pang of sympathy for Suction Cup.
Whether the outcome was perfect or catastrophic, Suction Cup seemed destined for tragedy.
Just then, the Narrator’s voice echoed in his mind.
Brother, don’t panic! I believe your future self will definitely have the power to recreate a perfect Suction Cup. Even without the scarlet rune’s enhancement, you can substitute other energy cores or even replicate a scarlet rune Crystal… But to reach that level, you’ll have a long road ahead, perhaps even surpassing the peak Old Mist spoke of.
The Narrator’s words dispelled much of the gloom in Feng Qi’s heart.
Beyond the Narrator’s mention of personal growth, Feng Qi also considered the possibility of miracle items with extraordinary capabilities. Perhaps one such item could achieve the perfect creation the Narrator described.
With this thought, he lost all interest in continuing to watch the battle.
Suction Cup was like every companion in the Sacrifice Line, their sacrifices merely paving the way for his advancement.
His greatest reward would be to ensure their sacrifices were not in vain.
“Old Mist, let’s go.”
With these words, Feng Qi turned and strode away.
The Lord of the Mist caught up beside him, his voice tinged with curiosity. “What about that little Suction Cup? Are you just abandoning her?”
Feng Qi shook his head. “I’m not abandoning her. She’ll return to my side.”
Just not in this Future Line, he added silently to himself.
The Lord of the Mist looked puzzled, then pressed on. “And what was that black mist-like creature earlier? How could it withstand such heavy blows without taking any damage?”
“It’s called Little Black. I don’t know its exact origins, but it’s currently hunting me down.”
“Why is it hunting you? What did you do?”
“I stole the offerings from its ancestors’ graves!” Feng Qi snapped, then broke into a run.
Upon hearing these words, the Lord of the Mist wore a bewildered expression, clearly unable to grasp the underlying meaning.
Half an hour later, Feng Qi and the Lord of the Mist arrived at the edge of the city ruins.
This area had been completely overrun by lush vegetation, with only occasional glimpses of half-buried building remnants protruding from the earth.
The thought of Suction Cup brought a pang of heartache to Feng Qi’s chest.
He didn’t know how long Suction Cup could hold out this time, but his mission was clear: to use the time she bought him to grow stronger.
Throughout their journey, the accumulating negative emotions continued to weigh on him, fueling the malice in his heart and creating an urgent need for release.
After pressing onward for some distance, Feng Qi and the Lord of the Mist spotted a group of domain creatures.
Resembling Tyrannosaurus Rexes from science fiction films, these creatures stood on two massive hind legs, their slender forelimbs resembling scythes that glinted coldly beneath the Blood Moon.
There were over a dozen of them, half-hidden within the dense, twisted vegetation, their ghostly green eyes flickering as they scrutinized the pair, as if assessing whether they would make suitable prey.
Suddenly, the lead creature leaped from the undergrowth, emitting a raspy roar as a warning before abruptly charging toward them.
After charging forward a few steps, the dinosaur-like domain creature abruptly leaped backward with surprising agility when it saw that neither Feng Qi nor the Lord of the Mist reacted.
Clearly, its feigned attack had been merely a probe to gauge its prey’s reaction and assess their strength.
“Quite clever… too bad you’re about to be eaten!” A bloodthirsty glint flickered across the Lord of the Mist’s usually languid face as he prepared to strike.
The Lord of the Mist’s method for assessing a prey’s strength was simple.
He possessed an innate, extraordinary sensitivity to qi blood. The intensity of a creature’s qi blood was like a clearly visible combat power score.
This method was ineffective against elemental lifeforms but highly accurate for creatures with qi blood.
Having already determined the prey’s qi blood intensity, the Lord of the Mist remained utterly composed.
But just as he was about to transform into mist and advance, Feng Qi reached out to stop him, stepping forward to confront the dinosaur-like creature himself.
“Let me handle this!”
Feng Qi’s pent-up negative emotions had reached their breaking point, demanding release.
Glancing at Feng Qi’s head, where his soulfire blazed fiercely, the Lord of the Mist remained silent, watching as Feng Qi approached the prey.
By now, Feng Qi’s qi blood reserves were completely depleted, rendering him unable to transform into his Blood Source Form.
Despite this, Feng Qi remained confident in his strength.
He was no match for the apex domain races and terrifying lifeforms of the future world, but against the weaker domain creatures lurking in the city ruins, he felt no pressure whatsoever.
As he closed in on the leading domain creature, he suddenly accelerated, his right arm swinging like a battle blade with a wind-splitting whoosh.
Caught off guard by Feng Qi’s sudden burst of speed, the domain creature recoiled like a spring.
But Feng Qi was still a step ahead.
He closed the distance, and his razor-sharp hand bones pierced the domain creature’s chest cavity, drawing a crimson spray.
Seeing their leader wounded, the remaining domain creatures leaped from the twisted vegetation, swarming toward Feng Qi and snapping their fangs at him.
Undaunted by the onslaught, Feng Qi pressed his right arm through the fleshy resistance, seized the still-beating heart, and crushed it without hesitation.
As a Blood Mist Cluster emerged from the leader’s body and was absorbed into his bones, Feng Qi’s shriveled heart slowly swelled and began to beat again.
Simultaneously, the swarming domain creatures bit down on his shoulders, arms, and calves.
But their bite force was utterly incapable of harming him.
His bone density and hardness far surpassed the hardness of the domain creatures’ teeth. Their sharp fangs could only leave scratches on his bones, unable to inflict any further damage.
Feng Qi struck back.
In his Bone Man Form, every part of his body became a lethal weapon, each attack inherently razor-sharp.
In the blink of an eye, the eight domain creatures surrounding him collapsed. The remaining creatures, fleeing in terror, couldn’t escape Feng Qi’s relentless pursuit and soon fell into pools of blood.
After the battle, Feng Qi’s depleted qi blood was replenished.
Just as he was about to open his status panel to examine his newly acquired innate ability, a gray mist drifted toward him from the distance, coalescing into the form of the Lord of the Mist before him.
The Lord of the Mist gazed at him with a helpless expression and said:
“Now I truly believe you’re my brother. But your qi blood absorption efficiency is clearly superior to mine. You devoured every last drop from the prey you killed along the way, leaving me with nothing.”
Feng Qi was about to respond when the Narrator’s voice echoed in his mind:
Perhaps even Old Mist’s excrement contains traces of qi blood. Your unique physique might be absorbing qi blood more thoroughly than Old Mist’s bowel movements!
Feng Qi: ……
