Chapter 332: Is There Evidence?
“Hmm?”
Just as Zhang Chen was beginning to feel better about having made Su Ming eat his words too, the driver in the front seat suddenly let out a soft exclamation of surprise.
“What is it?”
Zhang Chen snapped back to reality and glared coldly at the driver, clearly displeased that he had ruined his recently improved mood.
The driver detected the dissatisfaction in Zhang Chen’s voice and immediately responded.
“Young master, someone is blocking the road ahead.”
The driver quickly explained the situation.
“Blocking the road?”
Zhang Chen was momentarily stunned, then he saw it too.
Ahead on the road where the limousine was traveling, a figure had appeared out of nowhere, standing right in the middle of the street, blocking the path of all vehicles.
The person was draped in an overly ornate black outfit that, at first glance, resembled the attire of an upper-class individual about to attend a banquet. The black garment flowed in the wind like a tailcoat, and a hood covered the person’s head, concealing their face.
As Zhang Chen’s luxurious limousine approached, the figure showed no intention of moving aside. Instead, they allowed the headlights to shine on them, slowly raising their head. Beneath the hood, the corners of their mouth curled into a dangerous smile.
“Not good!”
Zhang Chen clearly saw the mocking curve of their lips, and his pupils contracted sharply.
“Young Master Zhang!”
Liu Zai seemed to have sensed something as well, his face abruptly changing as he shouted loudly.
Without a moment’s hesitation, both men leaped forward, shattering the car doors and hurling themselves out of the vehicle.
At that very moment, a Saber glowing with fiery light materialized in the hands of the Mysterious Black-Clad Man, who gripped it firmly.
In the next second, a crimson blade light erupted.
The luxurious limousine, without even time to brake, was cleanly sliced in two by the incoming blade light.
“Boom!”
The limousine exploded violently, transforming into two balls of raging flames that crashed onto opposite sides of the road.
The driver had managed to jump out in time but now lay unconscious by the roadside.
Zhang Chen and Liu Zai landed simultaneously, their faces turning extremely grim as they took in the scene.
Meanwhile, several other vehicles screeched to a halt, and Professionals dressed as Hunters emerged from them.
“Young master!”
“Young master!”
The Hunters called out, gathering around Zhang Chen.
They were his entourage of bodyguards, who had been following his car all along. Now that trouble had arisen, every one of them converged around Zhang Chen, forming a protective circle.
Zhang Chen didn’t even glance at them, his cold gaze fixed solely on the Mysterious Black-Clad Man still standing in the middle of the road, his eyes flashing with icy intensity.
“Who are you?”
Even Liu Zai was furious, shouting at the figure in the center of the road.
“You dare attack our convoy? You’re looking for death!”
No sooner had Liu Zai’s words fallen than the surrounding Hunter bodyguards drew their weapons without a word and charged toward Shadow.
Among them was even an Upper-Rank Professional, a Four-Star Hunter, who stared coldly at Shadow as if looking at a dead man.
However, in the next moment, the Four-Star Hunter’s gaze of certain death was replaced by sheer terror.
The reason was simple.
“Swish!”With a faint sound of tearing through the air, the mysterious black-clad man instantly flashed before the Four-Star Hunter, raising his fiery saber high and slashing down through the air.
This strike was simple and unadorned, showing no sharpness or edge. It descended silently, leaving no time for reaction.
At least, that was the case for the Four-Star Hunter.
He only saw a cold glimmer before his eyes, and the fiery red saber imprinted itself into his vision.
“Thud!”
Blood immediately splattered, spreading the scent of blood in all directions.
“Urgh…”
The Four-Star Hunter let out a pained groan from his throat, staring with disbelief at the mysterious black-clad man who had just delivered the slash, before collapsing to the ground.
A silent and unremarkable strike had cleanly torn through the Four-Star Hunter’s flesh, creating a massive wound stretching from his left shoulder to his right abdomen.
This was undoubtedly a severe injury.
An injury severe enough to completely incapacitate someone.
With a single clean strike, the mysterious black-clad man had taken down a genuine high-ranking Hunter, leaving him lying on the ground.
Then, the black-clad man flashed again, moving at an astonishing speed as he swept through the surrounding area, leaving trails of saber light in his wake as he struck the other accompanying Hunters who had yet to react, still frozen in their charging stances.
“Thud! Thud! Thud!…”
The sounds of tearing flesh echoed continuously, accompanied by splatters of blood.
Blood bloomed like flowers in mid-air, both gruesome and beautiful.
Unfortunately, the price of such a beautiful scene was the blood of professional Hunters.
They froze in place, unable to continue their charge, and moments later, they fell one by one like harvested wheat.
The mysterious black-clad man reappeared in his original position, as if he had never moved at all.
Yet the figures lying around him served as undeniable proof that what had just transpired was no dream.
“What!?”
Liu Zai’s expression changed drastically.
Zhang Chen clenched his fists tightly, his face growing increasingly grim and furious.
“Who are you?”
Zhang Chen stared intently at the mysterious black-clad man, no longer concealing his killing intent.
But the mysterious black-clad man acted as if he hadn’t heard anything, turning and walking away.
Only when he moved did Zhang Chen and Liu Zai notice.
Scattered on the road were several items.
These had fallen from the luxury car that had been sliced in half and had now exploded into two fiery wrecks.
Among them were an overcoat, a vial of medicine, and a cane.
The mysterious black-clad man was walking toward them.
At this point, how could Zhang Chen and Liu Zai not understand what he was after?
“Trying to steal the treasures I bid for?” Zhang Chen roared in anger. “Don’t even think about it!”
Zhang Chen’s shout snapped Liu Zai out of his stupor.
“You sneaky rat! Die!”
Liu Zai no longer stood by idly, unleashing his full Aura.
In an instant, his Aura surpassed that of the previous Four-Star Hunter, so powerful it seemed capable of distorting the very air.
The young master of the top-tier Liu family, the Commander of the B-rank team “Heavenly Grandeur,” now revealed his true strength as a Five-Star Hunter. Then, he stomped the ground, transforming into a blur as he shot forward violently.
The Mysterious Black-Clad Man immediately halted his steps, then turned around to face the grinning Liu Zai charging toward him.
In Liu Zai’s hand, a heavy Steel Sword was tightly gripped, slashing down directly at the Mysterious Black-Clad Man’s head.
The sound of a sonic boom echoed through the air as the rapidly descending Steel Sword compressed the atmosphere, causing it to screech.
The powerful, forceful slash seemed capable of easily splitting even a rock as it descended upon the Mysterious Black-Clad Man’s vulnerable head.
Clang!!
The sound of steel clashing rang out as the Fire Blade and Steel Sword collided fiercely, setting off a series of explosive reverberations.
The Mysterious Black-Clad Man merely raised his saber lightly, effortlessly blocking Liu Zai’s heavy strike.
Failing with his first attack, Liu Zai immediately changed tactics, switching from a slash to a sweeping motion. Wielding the heavy Steel Sword as if it were a sickle, he stirred up gusts of wind while unleashing a relentless barrage of strikes aimed at the Black-Clad Man’s entire body.
In response, the Black-Clad Man stood his ground, refusing to yield even half a step. His Fire Blade danced like a fluttering butterfly, spinning as it met the onslaught of the Steel Sword.
Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang—!
The fierce clashing of metal rang rhythmically across the area.
A dazzling interplay of saber and Sword shadows crisscrossed the road—colliding, missing, grazing, and overlapping—creating an astonishing standoff.
In an instant, the atmosphere was repeatedly torn apart, and the road’s surface was plowed by the sweeping saber and Sword glows, either shattering upon impact or trembling violently. Marks from the blades appeared one after another on the ground, sending dust and debris flying in a terrifying display.
It must be said, Liu Zai, the young master from a top-tier family, had some real skill.
As the Commander of a B-rank team and a Five-Star Hunter himself, Liu Zai’s strength was naturally formidable, far surpassing that of an ordinary Professional.
As a vassal of the Zhang Family and a member of a top-tier family himself, the Liu Family’s Legacy and resources were nothing to scoff at. Not only did Liu Zai master a high-level Sword technique, but the Steel Sword he wielded was also a refined alchemical weapon.
Back at the Talent Market, if Chi Qian hadn’t suddenly launched a surprise attack and instead faced Liu Zai head-on, even if she could have won, she definitely wouldn’t have been able to kick him flying so easily, humiliating the young master of the Liu Family.
Against a Five-Star Hunter with a strong Legacy, powerful weapons, and considerable strength, most ordinary Attackers would have been nothing more than cannon fodder.
Unfortunately, the Mysterious Black-Clad Man was not among them.
If this had been some time ago, without revealing his identity as a Dual Professional or using his abilities as a Sorcerer, relying solely on his strength as a Hunter, it would have been impossible for him to subdue Liu Zai without tapping into the power of his “right hand.”
But now, having advanced to a Five-Star Hunter—on par with Liu Zai—and having obtained the Legacy of the Ancient Blade Art, he could contend with Liu Zai using only his Hunter abilities alone. Not to mention his extraordinary Spirit Sense and the tenfold strength of his right hand compared to normal.
With this power, it wasn’t even impossible to challenge those above his level.
Dealing with a Five-Star Hunter who hadn’t even reached the Peak? It was, simply put, a breeze.
Thus, the balance was quickly broken.
Clash!Suddenly, the mysterious figure in black shifted from defense to offense. The Fire Blade in his hand no longer merely parried but flashed like a bolt of lightning, piercing through countless saber glints and sword shadows to strike Liu Zai.
This strike was no longer as plain and silent as the initial ones, nor as graceful as a dancing butterfly. Instead, it was breathtakingly brilliant.
The moment the saber’s hum echoed, the blade had already landed on Liu Zai’s body.
“Pfft!”
The sharp blade instantly pierced Liu Zai’s shoulder, causing blood to gush forth.
“Argh…!”
Liu Zai had no time to react to that stunning strike and let out a pained scream.
“Thump!”
Before Liu Zai could finish screaming, the mysterious figure in black swiftly kicked him, sending him flying backward.
Just like at the Talent Market, Liu Zai was sent hurtling through the air, crashing into a roadside railing and shattering it to pieces.
Immediately after, the young master of the Liu family collapsed, clutching his shoulder as he writhed on the ground in agony, unable to rise again.
Though not unconscious like the Hunters before him, Liu Zai, with his right shoulder pierced, had nearly lost the use of his dominant hand. He could no longer grip his weapon, letting the high-quality Steel Sword fall to the ground with a metallic clang.
Even if Liu Zai could still stand, his strength would likely be reduced by seventy to eighty percent, rendering him no longer a threat.
The mysterious figure in black did not press his advantage to deliver a fatal blow.
Instead, he turned to face the last person present besides himself who remained completely unscathed.
Zhang Chen watched Liu Zai writhing in pain, his expression dark and foreboding.
He showed no trace of panic, only a cold glare directed at the mysterious figure in black.
“Wang Yue,” Zhang Chen said in a low voice. “It’s you, isn’t it?”
Silence answered Zhang Chen’s question.
The mysterious figure in black remained utterly silent, merely staring at Zhang Chen, the corners of his mouth beneath the hood still curved in a mocking smile.
Witnessing this, Zhang Chen suppressed the fury boiling within him and spoke again, his voice strained.
“Stop pretending! I know it’s you!” Zhang Chen roared, barely containing his rage. “Who else would attack me, a young master of the Zhang Family, over those three auction items?”
His words were met with nothing but silence.
The mysterious figure in black seemed too indifferent to bother with Zhang Chen, turning away to continue toward the trio of items: the Coat, Cane, and Alchemy Potions.
This arrogant demeanor finally ignited the fury in Zhang Chen’s heart.
“Fine!” Zhang Chen laughed in extreme anger. “Since you want that pile of trash so badly, enough to attack me for it, then you can have it!”
“But from now on, don’t even think about showing your face in Tianfeng City again!”
“Using supernatural power to openly rob and assault a legitimate Professional—this crime is enough to get you wanted!”
“Trading that pile of trash for a prison sentence is worth it!”
“Go ahead and flee with that garbage, become an Underground Professional—that’s your only path from now on!”
“Hahahaha!”
Zhang Chen laughed wildly like this, choosing to stand by and watch as Su Ming took the Coat, Cane, and Alchemy Potions, making no further attempt to stop him.
Yet his words indeed made the mysterious figure in black pause in his tracks.
Then…”The surveillance around here has been destroyed by me, and the Alchemy Devices with reconnaissance and detection functions have also been disabled by me.”
Such words emerged from the mouth of the mysterious figure in black.
“Wha…”
Zhang Chen’s laughter abruptly ceased.
Only then did the black-clad figure turn around and look at Zhang Chen once more.
“Tell me, who did this?”
The sarcastic voice clearly reached Zhang Chen’s ears.
“Got any proof?”
That simple sentence made Zhang Chen unable to laugh any longer.
Resentment finally appeared on Zhang Chen’s face.
