Chapter 447: The Stitching Monster
The flesh golem with a gaping hole in its hand seemed to feel no pain. The hulking creature even raised its right hand slowly with a confused expression, peering through the opening as if puzzled. Clearly, this monster suffered from severe intellectual deficiencies.
After nearly a full second of delayed reaction, the massive flesh golem finally registered that it had been attacked. The tentacles composing its hair began whipping about wildly:
“Roooaaaar! Cookie dare hit Bageta! Bageta crush cookie!”With the flesh golem’s deep roar full of madness, the tentacles on its head instantly shot toward Kane like projectiles.” Supersonic bone spikes sliced through the air with piercing sonic booms as the tentacles, saturated with abyssal energy, transformed into arrows of pure destruction.
“Well now, that actually looks somewhat impressive.”
Observing the hundreds of tentacles arriving before him in an instant, feeling the vacuum pressure created by the hyper-velocity projectiles compressing the air, Kane maintained his characteristically relaxed expression. The combat skill he had prepared was unleashed in that very moment.
“Master-Level Combat Skill—Flash Step!”
Just as the tentacles were about to impale him, the agile knight executed nimble footwork, evading every tentacle attack by mere millimeters. Within the densely packed emerald “arrow storm,” countless rock fragments were pulverized by terrifying shockwaves, yet the golden-armored knight dodged with the casual elegance of someone strolling through a garden.
To the naked eye, Kane’s movements appeared as rapid teleportation through the sky tentacle projections. Not even a single drop of the mucus splattered alongside the tentacles managed to stain Kane’s armor.
“Roooaaaar! Nasty cookie! Bageta angry! Bageta eat all cookies!”
Seeing how his attacks couldn’t touch the diminutive knight, the self-proclaimed Bageta’s rage finally erupted.
Whether through sudden enlightenment or pre-programmed instructions from Sorsend, the dull-witted flesh golem finally ceased its futile tentacle barrage. Just as Kane prepared to activate his combat skill for a second casual evasion, the enraged monster abruptly began concentrating massive amounts of abyssal energy.
“Taste Bageta’s big fist, nasty cookie!”
Amidst the flesh golem’s garbled roar, crimson abyssal energy surged from its chest. Patterns brimming with chaos and evil instantly covered the golem’s intact right hand.
In the next moment, the right hand infused with abyssal energy underwent violent transformation. Horrific bone spikes pierced through the arm’s surface as the seaweed-like growths on its skin twisted into shrieking thorns. The entire limb rapidly expanded, interwoven crimson muscles bursting through the creature’s tough epidermis to exposure. However… such a transformation was destined to be futile.
Just as the Flesh Golem’s “transformation” was about to complete, accompanied by Kane’s hysterical laughter and a fleeting flash of light, the violent mutation in its arm abruptly ceased.
“Kekekeke, it seems the mutation using Abyssal energy is quite intense, but… too slow, too slow, too slow! What a pity, this master can’t wait any longer, ahahahaha.”
THUD!
That was the heavy sound of the Flesh Golem’s arm hitting the ground. The half-mutated left arm crashed down heavily, flattening a patch of shrubs as it landed with a dull thud. Meanwhile, Kane, who had just shattered the Flesh Golem’s arm with a dazzling Combat Skill “Charge,” was striking an absurdly theatrical pose.
But Kane’s current nonchalant demeanor was clearly just an act, as the glow rapidly gathering on his Lance revealed the knight’s true next move—he was about to follow up with a lethal strike against the Flesh Golem.
Well, at his core, Kane remained the cautious and prudent knight. For him, fun was fun, but when it was time to get serious, there was no room for carelessness. Now, this Flesh Golem’s method of utilizing Abyssal energy was alarming enough to draw anyone’s attention. As the terrifying Abyssal energy surged from the Flesh Golem’s core, both Kane and Punk had already prepared their killing moves.
BOOM!
But this time, Kane—who had just mocked the Flesh Golem’s speed—seemed a step too slow, for this deafening “boom” was unmistakably the sound of a Kinetic Blast detonating.
Without waiting for Kane to act, Punk—who had already prepared his spell—directly hurled the increasingly bright Kinetic Blast in his hand.
The Flesh Golem’s large size and its dull, unresponsive nature greatly amplified the lethality of Punk’s spell. With the creature employing no defensive measures whatsoever, the violet sphere carrying violent kinetic energy instantly struck the Flesh Golem’s core.
What followed was inevitable. Even a physically robust warrior would sustain significant injuries from a Kinetic Blast without Battle Aura defense, let alone this Flesh Golem, whose body was clearly inferior to a warrior of the same level.
After being hit by the spell, the energy circuits hidden within the Flesh Golem’s body were instantly shredded by the raging kinetic force. Muscle tissue mixed with bone fragments proved utterly fragile against the explosion of spell energy.
In the end, without even a final roar, the massive Flesh Golem collapsed heavily, a gaping hole torn through its chest!
After all, Punk was now an 18th-level spellcaster. Before his powerful magic, even a 15th-level magical construct appeared so vulnerable. However, on the other hand… it must be said that the flesh golem Sorsend created was utterly abysmal. While its combat power might be compensated for by the explosive surge of Abyssal energy, its intellectual deficiency was truly beyond redemption. With such pitiful intelligence, it didn’t even realize it should have activated the Abyssal energy burst state at the start of the battle, and after being attacked, it just stood there foolishly like a living target.
Perhaps this was one reason why Sorsend preferred to use it as cannon fodder rather than keep it by his side—this thing was so useless it couldn’t even properly serve as a meat shield or take hits.
“It seems Sorsend’s alchemical skills are just mediocre. A perfectly good Master-Level powerhouse’s corpse was turned into such a pathetic flesh golem. Only this core capable of sealing Abyssal energy holds some research value.”
After confirming the flesh golem had completely lost any possibility of moving again, Punk calmly cast Mage Hand to retrieve a palm-sized metal sphere from the creature’s mangled corpse:
“I suspect Sorsend’s original purpose in creating this monster was to experiment with the compatibility between Abyssal energy and Master-Level biological tissue. Ultimately, this flesh golem’s creation was just failed recycling of waste materials. Hmm, in that case, this thing really can only be considered Sorsend’s little pet… By the way Kane, why are you puffing up with anger? Our next opponent is Sorsend himself.”
Nonchalantly storing the flesh golem’s core in his Storage Ring, completely ignoring Kane’s furious glare as the latter stood ready with Combat Skill activated, Punk expressionlessly turned toward the Lake. His demeanor suggested that from retrieving to storing the core, he had merely performed some trivial, insignificant task.
