Chapter 462: Escape?
After the Demon Sub-Lord’s projected giant claw lifted, Punk, who had hurriedly flown back to the battlefield, immediately saw countless pale cyan dust particles rapidly converging around a specific spot on the battlefield. Dense magical radiance enveloped the area like a luminous cocoon.
Without a doubt, Punk instantly realized—this dust-shrouded location must be Sorsend’s hiding place.
“Hiding? Keep hiding then! Do you think you can evade forever?”
Ignoring his ruptured internal organs, Punk completed his spellcasting at maximum speed. He now clearly understood: Sorsend’s magic array possessed minimal defensive capabilities, while the Magical Raven Vector’s “Directional Interference” spell could only target one objective at a time. Under these circumstances, Punk’s “Dual Casting” metamagic technique would perfectly counter all of Sorsend’s methods.
“Damn it… Vector, assist me now!”
Watching two deep violet glowing spells materialize at the tip of Punk’s staff, Sorsend abandoned all hope of luck and forced his exhausted body to leap out from the magic array.
At this moment, Sorsend—the hunter with numerous achievements—had finally become the panicked prey. Even though beyond the array lay extreme danger, even though terrifying Abyssal energy currents still raged like hurricanes, even though the Demon Sub-Lord’s projected claw might descend again at any moment, even though Punk’s spell attacks were unnaturally accurate…
Sorsend had no choice but to stake everything on a desperate escape before Punk’s spells landed. Because… any later, and this exhausted hunter would truly lose all chance of flight.
“Master-Level Summoning Magic—Blood Golem Summoning!”
As Punk’s two “Velocity Kinetic Cones” simultaneously completed formation, the one-eyed Sorsend gritted his teeth in resentment. From his eye socket, viscous blood gushed forth like a spring, all ultimately edged with golden light under the spell’s radiance.
Finally, when Sorsend completed his casting, a suit of armor transformed from the Blood Golem’s body fully encased his bloodless face.
“Thud, thud!!”
Two purple streaks shot explosively toward Sorsend as consecutive dull impacts blasted two voids through the boundless crimson gales.
But this time, Punk’s attack failed to achieve its intended lethal effect.
Utilizing the Magical Raven Vector’s “Directional Interference,” Punk’s first “Velocity Kinetic Cone” was deflected into the sky, while the second was intercepted by the Blood Golem’s substantial form.
“Hehehehe! I am Sosend Jess—I’ve lived countless more years than a brat like you! Don’t think fragmentary intelligence will grant you victory!”
Sheltered within the Blood Golem’s protection, Sorsend hysterically threatened Punk: “Watch and wait, pathetic mage! I shall return eventually! When that day comes, all you overconfident fools shall tremble before the power of the Abyss! You…””Shut up, trash! You don’t even have Ovakain’s escape skills. Now go die obediently!”
The response to Sorsend was Punk’s icy voice filled with murderous intent.
In fact, even before Sorsend could finish speaking, Punk immediately began preparing a new spell. Just as Punk had said earlier, a prepared spellcaster was absolutely any enemy’s nightmare.
Now, Sorsend thought he could save his life by relying on the “Summon Blood Golem” spell, but what he didn’t know was that Punk had long anticipated he might use this spell, and corresponding countermeasures were already brewing.
Perhaps sensing something, seeing that Punk wasn’t panicking but instead calmly stopping to continue casting spells, Sorsend no longer had the courage to remain on the battlefield engaging in verbal sparring. Although he believed Punk couldn’t easily shatter his “Blood Golem,” the Demon Sub-Lord’s Projection giant claw had already been raised high again. Sorsend didn’t have the ability to withstand another combined attack from Punk and the Demon Sub-Lord’s Projection giant claw, so now he genuinely needed to seriously flee.
Without looking back, Sorsend threw a “Mosa’s Heart of Terror” at Punk while dragging Vector—who could barely even fly now—as he quickly ran across the sandy ground.
Under Sorsend’s control, the Blood Golem’s freely deformable body formed six insect-like segmented legs, and Sorsend rode his golem to rapidly move away from the Demon Sub-Lord’s Projection giant claw.
“Damn damn damn, now my mana is completely overdrawn. But fortunately, I still have a chance to escape. I can still get out of here. I can’t stay in the Raging Wave Desert anymore. I need to quickly find a hiding place…”
After using two more spells in quick succession, Sorsend, with completely overdrawn mana, endured the pain in his soul while rapidly considering his next moves.
He knew that even if he temporarily escaped with his life, this matter was far from over. He needed to quickly plan his next hiding strategy. He wasn’t naive enough to think that a stationary Demon Sub-Lord’s Projection giant claw could kill Punk, Kane, and Ovakain entirely.
However… Sorsend was destined not to need to expend any more mental effort.
In fact, before he could run even a hundred meters, the Blood Golem carrying this mage’s last hope abruptly shattered into pieces under the illumination of a beam of light.
“Master-Level Alchemy Magic—Rapid Disintegration Ray”
Metamagic – Mana Compression!
In Sorsend’s remaining horrified pupil was reflected the golem’s body that instantly turned ash-gray and broke apart piece by piece. Under that cyan-green beam of light, the golem summoned using his own blood as casting material almost unbelievably quickly turned into a pile of pale powder…
“NO!!!”
Letting out a desperate roar, Sorsend—still maintaining high-speed movement—crashed directly into the Solid as a Rock crystalline ground. Along with the shattered crystalline rock fragments, Sorsend’s head was soon stained red with blood.”No, no! It shouldn’t be like this. I am a spellcaster destined to become Legendary. My end shouldn’t be like this.”
Without regard for his fractured skull, Sorsend scrambled forward almost pathetically, crawling and stumbling. He didn’t even have time to retrieve his staff or gather his Magic Raven. He was merely expending his last ounce of strength in a desperate attempt to flee, his panicked flight resembling that of a beggar being chased through the streets.
The desperate Sorsend no longer cared whether his actions held any meaning… Rationally, he knew perfectly well that he was doomed. This fleeing and raging… was nothing but one of a creature’s meaningless instincts!
