Chapter 466: Struggle for Supremacy

As countless colorful energy fragments rapidly dissipated, the space shrouded by extreme destructive forces once again revealed its appearance.

It had to be admitted that the destruction unleashed during a failed Legendary advancement was truly terrifying. At this moment, the scene reappearing before Punk was one of complete nothingness. As far as the eye could see, all areas touched by the colorful energy ribbons—space, matter, energy, including the Demon Sub-Lord’s projected claw and the Abyss-connected altar—had all turned to dust! A circular area the diameter of an entire city had been vaporized out of existence, and the glassy ground formed by the Demon Sub-Lord’s projected claw strike had transformed into a deep, massive crater.

Under such terrifying destructive power, Ovakain’s soul was completely annihilated into nothingness within a ten-thousandth of a second. This powerhouse who had once glimpsed the path to Legendary had thoroughly fallen in this desolate, unknown oasis.

Ovakain Acidmaw was dead!

The Merciful King of the Hoth Mountains, the Monarch of the Dragon Roar Kingdom, the true savior of the Raging Wave Desert—Ovakain Acidmaw had fallen!

From beginning to end, probably no one would ever know that a powerhouse on the verge of breaking through to Legendary had chosen to sacrifice his life to save innocent people, abandoning his vengeance, forsaking his dreams. Nor would anyone remember what kindness a benevolent dragon had possessed, or what righteous act he had gritted his teeth to perform under what circumstances…

To pursue ideals, to practice ideals! This path was destined to be rugged and dangerous, but to chase one’s dreams, what fear should there be of these thorns or even more terrible death?

Regardless, with Ovakain sacrificing himself to close the Abyss-connected altar, and with Sorsend’s death becoming certain, Punk’s pursuit of this powerful black dragon finally ended in victory. The disaster triggered by Sorsend was completely resolved.

However… had everything truly concluded at this point?

Clearly not!

Almost the moment the dust created by Ovakain’s death dissipated completely, Punk’s keen vision caught a fleeting crimson glow deep within the impact crater.

Under the law collapse at the Legendary level, even the black dragon Ovakain’s corpse had turned to ashes in an instant. Then… what could possibly survive such a terrifying catastrophe?

There was only one answer—Legendary Equipment!

The Legendary Necklace Ovakain had kept on his person!

Without a moment’s hesitation, Punk almost instantly began casting spells on himself at maximum speed.

“Master-Level Conjuration Spell—Super Swiftness”

Metamagic – Mana Compression

Metamagic – Dualcast

Master-Level Conjuration Spell—Kinetic Propulsion!

Two consecutive buff spells were simultaneously applied to Punk, pushing his movement speed to peak levels in one breath. To the naked eye, Punk had almost entirely transformed into a flash of brilliant purple light that vanished in an instant, with just the recoil-generated shockwave causing the ground to crack inch by inch.Punk’s full-throttle acceleration was by no means an overreaction, for as he spotted the Legendary Equipment at the crater’s center, his peripheral vision sharply caught another figure moving at a speed no less than his own.

It was an intensely sharp flash of light—under its brilliant yellow glow, even space itself was torn open into dark fissures! Most importantly… the trajectory of this radiance was unmistakable, as it shot in a perfectly straight line toward the Legendary Equipment at the crater’s base.

Undoubtedly, this individual, as impatient as Punk to accelerate at full power… was none other than Kane!

Ovakain’s mutual destruction technique was indeed formidable in power, but its mobility and speed were excessively slow. The spread of those colorful lights likely couldn’t even match the burst speed of a Formal-Level professional; only a stationary target like the Demon Sub-Lord’s Projected Claw would be hit.

Thus, as expected, Kane easily evaded the terrifying destruction with his speed.

At the same time… he clearly wasn’t one to slink away empty-handed. Now, the very moment the destructive force dissipated, the cunning knight had returned to contest the spoils with Punk.

“Cyan, you’ve already taken all the treasures from Sorsend. What more do you want? Are you sure you can control your greed?”

While pushing his speed to the maximum, Kane shouted angrily at Punk.

But Punk paid no heed to Kane’s roars. Even hearing the clear fury in Kane’s voice, Punk continued flying swiftly toward the Legendary Equipment without a word.

Control greed? What a joke! Was this really the time to consider such things? With prime loot right before them, anyone who didn’t seize it would be a fool. As for danger… Punk certainly didn’t view Kane as a threat—he was confident he could defeat this unreliable knight!

The full-speed acceleration of a Master-Level powerhouse was undeniably swift. In mere seconds, two streaks of light—one yellow and one purple—arrived almost simultaneously at the crater’s center.

Without wasting words, Kane practically lunged for the crimson necklace, even attempting to use his Lance to hook it closer and shorten the distance to the prize.

But Punk wouldn’t let Kane succeed. With little preparation needed, empowered by Metamagic – Dualcast, two ping-pong ball-sized, instant-cast pale purple energy spheres shot toward Kane immediately.

“Master-Level Conjuration Spell—Kinetic Blast” ×2.

“Damn you, Punk Cyan, you…”

“BOOM”

Before Kane could finish, the two terrifying Kinetic Blasts erupted dangerously close to the knight. Purple Kinetic Shards once again shattered the newly repaired space, while the horrific shockwaves made large swathes of the ground tremble incessantly.

In such contests for spoils, a mage’s advantages were always substantial. A variety of long-range methods made it far easier to secure distant treasures—and, of course, to handily intercept competitors.Just like now—even Kane couldn’t choose to take two “Kinetic Blasts” head-on, so the knight, mid-Charge, could only stomp his foot and use the powerful recoil to temporarily evade the explosion’s core.

Kane avoided such an explosion, but in doing so, he also missed out on a treasure.

Almost simultaneously with the two “Kinetic Blasts” detonating, Punk’s Mage Hand had already shot toward the necklace in the crater with lightning speed.
