Chapter 73: The Completion of the Golem Creation
“Huff, huff”!
Punk leaned against the edge of the table, gasping for breath. The consumption of the Ancient Elven Tongue was astonishingly high. From birth until now, it was the first time he felt his magical power depleted so thoroughly. Although the mana in his soul was rapidly recovering, just moments ago, the magical energy that had remained mostly full was genuinely completely exhausted.
However, judging by the results, his magical power wasn’t wasted. The completed Flesh Golem clearly possessed higher intelligence. Though still incomparable to normal humans, the golem should now have preliminary adaptive capabilities.
And moreover…
Punk waved his hand to disperse the residual magical light particles in the air, stepping closer to the Flesh Golem.
To maximize the Flesh Golem’s field of vision, he had “insanely” installed a full seven eyes on it, only stopping when reaching the information processing limit of the modified soul. The golem could now observe its surroundings with a complete 360-degree view without blind spots.
Staring at the blood-red vertical pupil located between the golem’s eyebrows, Punk could faintly sense that these eyes had somehow developed a spell-like ability. Now, they could see through lower-level illusions.
Extending his slender fingers, he gently touched the exaggeratedly large main eye, feeling the magical fluctuations emanating from it. In Punk’s perception, this ability seemed innate to the eyeball, but he could confirm with absolute certainty—he hadn’t performed any enchantments on these eyes.
“So… is this also one of the effects of the Ancient Elven Tongue? But… I didn’t express any intention to enhance magical abilities?”
Punk was thoroughly puzzled by this “unexpected surprise” from the Ancient Elven Tongue.
Finally, he could only shake his head and give up further investigation into this currently inaccessible question. However, he cautiously noted this “anomaly” of the Ancient Elven Tongue in his mind. Punk could sense that these few sentences of Ancient Elven Tongue might conceal even more mysterious and peculiar things beneath their seemingly ordinary surface!
“Regardless, it’s time to test this masterpiece that required immense effort.”
Setting aside his doubts about the Ancient Elven Tongue, Punk redirected his interest to the Flesh Golem.
He commanded the Flesh Golem to step out of the now-inactive magic circle, carefully perceiving the movement patterns of every muscle and calculating the energy circulation of each magic array. Only after confirming there were no issues with basic mobility did he nod in satisfaction.
“Next is testing the golem’s combat capabilities!Since Punk’s Flesh Golem used demon flesh as its primary material, many positive energy spells and spells exclusive to the order-aligned factions couldn’t be “configured” for the golem. In truth, solidifying magic that should originally be cast by a mage into an “item” is no easy task. Particularly as spell levels increase, the structure of spells becomes increasingly complex and variable. Transforming “spells cast by people” into “spells automatically cast by objects” is inherently extremely difficult, often requiring fine-tuning and modifications to the spell structure.
Moreover, when dealing with materials possessing potent magical energy, it’s sometimes necessary to adapt the entire spell structure “according to local conditions.” The difficulties involved are absolutely beyond the reach of a newly advanced Formal-Level mage like Punk!
However, his luck was quite good. That mage named Walkerway had recorded no less than four fully adjusted Formal-Level spells later in his notes. Although they were all very basic and common mass-market spells, they still solved his urgent needs!
Besides, while the flesh of the glabrezu was rare, its tier didn’t quite qualify as possessing “potent magical energy.”
Punk selected two of these four spells to solidify within the flesh golem’s body. Actually, according to Walkerway’s theory, this type of flesh golem—”exclusively invented by the great mage Walkerway”—should be capable of solidifying at least seven Formal-Level spells during the Formal-Level stage. However, Punk lacked the knowledge and experience for alchemical operations involving this type of solidified spell. Merely being able to solidify two spells based on Walkerway’s scribbled notes could already be considered beyond expectations!
The now fully constructed flesh golem displayed the following data in the System’s analysis:
Alchemical Creation: Flesh Golem
Form: Two-meter tall humanoid shape, covered externally with tattered burlap skin (original skin is bluish-red), head grows seven red eyes in all directions, hands equipped with blood-colored sharp claws.
Materials: Glabrezu flesh, Vrock claws, modified human soul, Nine-Leaf Flower, Specter Dust, Glimmer Mist Crystal, Spell Embers…
Level: Formal-Level Construct
Potential: None (Expecting potential from this piece of junk?)
Gender: None (The creator never installs superfluous organs)
Energy Source: Theoretically infinite, but cannot exceed maximum output limit. (No matter what soul, it’s always so incredible)
Abilities:
-
Combat Instinct: The core soul modified by the creator has been augmented with virtual soul modules rich in combat instinct, granting the golem autonomous combat capability and the ability to use incomplete basic techniques.
-
Polluted Demon Claws: Sharp claws filled with the Vrock’s bitter hatred serve as the flesh golem’s hands. Lower-level enemies struck by the claws suffer mental evil impacts.
-
Spirit-Seeing Eyes: Due to the unknown effects of the Ancient Elven Tongue, the flesh golem’s eyes possess the ability to discern shoddy Formal-Level illusions.
-
Bizarre Demon Body: The flesh golem’s body largely inherits the glabrezu’s resistances to fire and lightning elements. Simultaneously, due to the Ancient Elven Tongue’s empowerment, it gains faster recovery speed and greater resilience!
-
Devour: The flesh golem can rapidly repair its body by directly consuming organic matter.6. Acid Spray (Spell): A spell solidified within the oral cavity can be cast three times after being fully charged. The automatic recharge time requires twenty-seven magic hours. Each cast can produce approximately twenty liters of non-conductive acid for a spitting attack with a range of fifty meters. The acid’s potency is slightly weaker than the Formal-Level evocation spell—Acid Spray.
-
Steel Restraint (Spell): A spell solidified within the flesh golem’s core can be cast five times after being fully charged. The automatic recharge time is twenty magic hours. It can summon a mass of resilient steel around the golem’s core, within a twenty-meter radius, at any location with material density less than or equal to 13.6 g/cm3, to envelop and restrain any object. The spell’s threat level is slightly weaker than the Formal-Level summoning magic—Steel Restraint.
Overall Evaluation: A barely serviceable golem creation by the alchemy novice—Formal-Level mage Punk Cyan, with luck accounting for over half of its success!
Ignoring the awkward assessment at the end, Punk manipulated the flesh golem to perform several agile tactical movements. The golem swiftly received the commands, its fluid motions nearly blending into afterimages. Powerful punches and kicks generated sonic booms in the air, causing turbulent currents to surge recklessly through the White Tower.
Punk felt reasonably satisfied with his creation. With this qualified “meat shield” golem, he could compensate for his significant weakness in “dealing with close-combat type enemies” without needing warrior support.
Punk defined his combat style as “control-and-execute flow”—using various low-cost spells to probe the enemy’s trump cards, employing defensive and evasion spells to ensure personal safety, enhancing his meat shield with buffing spells, weakening enemies with numerous debuff spells, and finally delivering consecutive high-damage spell bursts to “execute” opponents.
Maintaining safety without lacking killing power, attacking while preserving ample retreat options, exposing enemy secrets while maximizing retention of his own—this was the combat approach Punk envisioned as most suitable for himself.
Finally, draping the ferocious-looking flesh golem in a pale gray robe, the mostly-covered construct appeared from behind like a taciturn strongman. After one last careful inspection of the connection between the golem’s soul and body, Punk ultimately nodded expressionlessly. He had a premonition that this golem would prove useful very soon.
“I wonder what interesting things await me ahead”!
Returning to the experiment table, he reopened Mainaixi’s spellbook. The path of pursuing knowledge always felt wonderfully exhilarating—he was already growing impatient to begin studying the next piece of knowledge!
