Chapter 96: Continue the Fight
“Damn it, aaaaaah…………”
All the ferocious soul faces on the dark green spider turned to gaze at the now dangerously close Golem Number One. Their venomous glare seemed capable of burning even steel to ashes. Unfortunately, for Golem Number One, which only unwaveringly followed Punk’s commands, no amount of malice or resentment held any meaning.
Golem Number One extended its hands, modified from Vrock claws, with crimson chaotic energy swirling recklessly along the sharp edges of the talons.
Under the fearful gaze of the cult leader’s soul, Golem Number One unhesitatingly plunged its claws into the body of the dark green spider.
“Sizzle, sizzle…………”
Upon contact with the dark green liquid covering the spider, the flesh golem body—crafted from the flesh of a Glabrezu—began to sizzle as it was corroded by the potent acidic poison. The ordinary linen cloth covering Golem Number One’s arms instantly turned to dust, and the exposed crimson muscles of the golem melted at a visible rate. The souls writhing across the dark green spider gathered around the golem’s arm, frantically tearing at the flesh and bones of Golem Number One’s limb.
But golems feel no pain. Even as its arm became riddled with holes, it tightly gripped the wound on the dark green spider, allowing the increasingly frenzied souls to shred the muscular tissue of its arm.
“Aaaaaah————”
Unlike the alchemical creature Golem Number One, the mad cultists, despite having fused their souls into the dark green spider, seemed not to have completely discarded their sense of pain. A chorus of agonized howls erupted from the souls on the dark green spider, their terrifying, piercing wails momentarily filling the entire Silence Field.
“Useless howling and wailing. A bunch of trash who can’t even control false power—how could they possibly resist real strength?”
Punk remained undisturbed by the dark green spider’s ghostly cries. In the brief two seconds bought by Golem Number One, the spell in his hand was already fully prepared.
Formal-Level Conjuration Spell—Greater Harm: Instantly creates over a thousand ethereal energy blades within a twenty-cubic-meter space, performing indiscriminate slicing for one continuous second.
As one of the “Harm Spell” series, “Greater Harm” also possesses extraordinary lethality. As a curse spell, the dark green spider, already pinned in place by Golem Number One, had no means of evasion. The cult leader could only watch in fury as the gray sphere in Punk’s hand grew more solid, roaring with unwilling rage:
“Goddess Tisha Xia’er, grant me power!”
As the cult leader desperately burned his soul, the dark green spider struggled wildly. Dozens of souls entwined with green aura actually roared as they flew out from the dark green spider’s body. They intertwined in mid-air to form a massive chain radiating an ominous aura, then wrapped around Golem Number One and desperately flew backward.Although the chains formed from the believer souls couldn’t penetrate the Abyssal energy defense on Golem Number One’s surface, their immense force still succeeded in pulling Golem Number One’s hands out of the emerald spider’s body. Freed from the golem’s restraint, the emerald spider’s limbs creaked taut, on the verge of escaping Punk’s attack range.
“Dream on!”Punk snarled under his breath, immediately commanding Golem Number One to cast the “Iron Shackles” spell on the emerald spider.”
Tangled masses of steel wrapped around the spider, but perhaps due to the corrosive slime on the emerald spider’s body softening the metal, the wrapped creature still managed to move a significant distance.
The slime on the emerald spider corroded the metal branches created by “Iron Shackles,” producing swirling smoke and creaking sounds. In this hazy environment, the dense blades of the Harm Spell bloomed wildly in the air.
“Ahhhhhhhhh, I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you————ahhhhh…………”
Though at the last moment the emerald spider struggled desperately to shift most of its body out of the Harm Spell’s range, nearly one-third of it was still shredded to pieces. The excruciating pain drove the emerald spider completely mad.
With such severe injuries, the emerald spider’s corpse could no longer maintain bodily stability. All the souls ran amok across its form like lunatics, while the green slime on its surface bubbled like boiling water. Large droplets of slime splattered from the emerald spider’s body, soon corroding the surrounding rocky ground into a pitted mess.
Punk carefully retreated from the increasingly “boiling” emerald spider. By now, Golem Number One had broken free from the believer soul chains, but Punk didn’t order it to press the attack.
This monstrous spider’s intensely corrosive slime posed a serious threat to most melee units. Even the formidable flesh of a seduction demon could hardly withstand the emerald spider’s potent acid, demonstrating the fusion monster’s terrifying corrosive power!
However, as a ranged mage, Punk had no fear of the emerald spider’s near-zero-range acid attacks. The strongest corrosion was useless if it couldn’t reach its target.
Calmly directing the bone-exposed Golem Number One to evade the enraged spider’s area, Punk began running counterclockwise at high speed while launching Kinetic Bursts one after another at the severely wounded emerald spider.
“Ahhhhh, damned heretic! I’ll kill you, kill you—why won’t you die… die—”nnDriven mad by agony, the believer leader completely lost his last shred of sanity. In this state, the emerald spider couldn’t last ten more seconds, so the cult leader abandoned all concerns about survival. He recklessly consumed bodily acid to launch emerald acid spheres repeatedly—this frantic barrage indeed caused Punk some trouble. The trouble wasn’t the acid orb’s power. In fact, the nearly exhausted Viridian Spider could no longer spit the terrifying, all-corrosive acid fluid from earlier. The acid projectiles it now continuously spat couldn’t even break through Punk’s Deflection Field.
However, Punk had to intercept every one of those erratically flying acid projectiles. The battle had reached this point, yet the “boss” inside still hadn’t appeared. Unless there was some terrible conspiracy, this meant the target remained completely unaware due to a Silence Field. At this critical moment, Punk couldn’t allow any acid projectiles fired by the dying Viridian Spider to escape the Silence Field and create the slightest noise.
Fortunately, the now completely irrational Viridian Spider had only one thought left: attack the enemy. They’d probably even forgotten there was a boss in their lair. Under the cult leader’s control, all acid projectiles were directed toward Punk, significantly reducing the difficulty of interception.
“So, having a brain is truly valuable. You should really consider growing one when you get the chance…”
Seeing the Viridian Spider being so “considerate,” Punk sincerely marveled at the enemy’s brainless idiocy while effortlessly releasing Kinetic Bursts one after another. He watched as pale purple energy spheres shattered the acid projectiles mid-air… like petals battling against a fierce wind…
“This is a rare moment of relaxation during combat…”
Punk thought calmly…
One sphere after another
