Chapter 108: The World Where Brahma Tower Resides

Most of the questions at the meeting were pretty unserious, and Jiang Li was utterly drained.

He knew exactly what the problem was. Without the threat of Outer World Demons, and with himself watching over the Nine Provinces, these guys were just too idle in their comfy lives.

Jiang Li considered coming up with an excuse to give them something to do, but for the moment he hadn’t figured out what that might be.

He could also tell that everyone was in a really good mood, and the reason was simple—they could go play around in the universe again.

Compared to planets in the universe, the Nine Provinces Continent was actually quite vast. By the standards of Jiang Li’s past life, it was about the size of ten Jupiters laid flat.

Even so, Soul Formation Stage Cultivators often felt cramped in the Nine Provinces. Most of them preferred to fight high in the sky or just head into space to duel with spells.

What’s more, the Nine Provinces Continent was limited by Law-Sealing Zones.

If you lived your whole life there, it didn’t feel like much.

But once a cultivator reached the Soul Formation Stage, where they could survive short trips into space—or especially the Fusion Stage, where they could operate freely in space—they’d be shocked to discover just how strong they actually were.

On the Nine Provinces Continent, they might be able to flatten mountains or raise storms with a flick of the hand.

But once in the universe, freed from the restrictions of the continent’s laws, shifting planetary orbits or blowing up entire planets was just casual play.

Back when Jiang Li first reached the Mahayana Stage, he’d crushed planets flat and used them as game pieces to play hundreds of rounds of Five-in-a-Row with Bai Hongtu.

But the Human Sovereign Hall still recommended Fusion Stage Cultivators stop blowing up stars or shifting their orbits—otherwise, every night when they stargazed, they’d notice a few missing.

…

Now that the threat of the Celestial Immortal-level Outer World Demon had been eliminated, Jiang Li could finally go find Brahma Tower.

Brahma Tower held mastery over the Dao of Space, which was extremely valuable to the Nine Provinces.

Originally, he’d planned to find the Yin-Yang Heaven Seal first and then search for Brahma Tower.

But after returning to the Nine Provinces from the world of the Dao Ancestor’s Immortal Corpse, so many things had happened that he had no choice but to postpone it.

Jiang Li bought another Brahma Tower summon from the store.

As usual, before it could even be summoned to the Nine Provinces, it used the Dao of Space to escape again.

So he had no choice but to go find it himself.

Back when those rebellious Immortal Artifacts tore through space to flee to other worlds, the system had saved their coordinates. So it wasn’t hard to find which world it had gone to.

Jiang Li asked the Yin-Yang Heaven Seal if it could locate Brahma Tower.

The Yin-Yang Heaven Seal replied politely, saying, “That b**tard wrapped itself in too many space barriers. It’s like I’m separated from it by several worlds.

Causal force has been weakened. I can only confirm it’s still in that world, not the exact location.”

Seeing the Yin-Yang Heaven Seal turn into a useless hunk again, Jiang Li told it to just keep researching the Spiritual Treasure cultivation method.

Then he asked Lord Wuzhi, “If Brahma Tower developed sentience, what kind of personality would it have?”

Lord Wuzhi thought for a bit and said, “Probably the kind that loves explaining things in crowded places.”

Jiang Li notified a few close friends that he was leaving the Nine Provinces to visit another world.

【Teleport to unknown world?】

“Teleport.”

Jiang Li could have torn space himself and flown through the void.

But the system’s teleportation was way faster—and besides, now that his Source Points were basically glitched into unreadable gibberish, he could use them freely.

…

In a ruined, desolate city, skyscrapers tilted, doors and windows were broken, and even the bright sunlight couldn’t dispel the gray haze.

Even with stories from their parents or documentaries to watch, kids born in this era still had trouble imagining just how prosperous cities used to be.

Nor could they imagine a world without the threat of death.

In this city, buildings no longer served as safe shelters.

Instead, they’d become muddy traps.

Enter one, and life or death was anyone’s guess.

No one knew how many zombies lurked inside, or how many people had died there.

A zombie staggered through the city, searching for prey by instinct.

“Big Sis! That lone Tier-1 zombie just stepped into our trap zone!”

A boy crouched on a small rooftop spotted the zombie, a hint of excitement in his voice.

Looting a Tier-1 zombie would be enough to keep him and his sister fed and clothed for a month.

Of course, if they traded it for weapons or supplies, it’d burn up fast.

He used a Zombie Detector to confirm the zombie’s level—definitely Tier-1.

“Calm down, little bro. We still need to check if there are more zombies or any people nearby.”

His sister lay on the eighth floor of a high-rise, acting much more cautiously.

She used several mirrors to observe the zombie below, constantly adjusting the angles to confirm its tier, and to make sure there were no other zombies—or scavenging veterans—nearby.

In this apocalyptic world, zombies weren’t their only enemies.

“Sis, are you done yet? The target’s about to leave our zone!”

Her brother sounded tense, constantly fiddling with his radio headset.

“No ambush in sight. Move in!” she ordered decisively.

The siblings leaped from opposite buildings, both clad in black Enhancer Suits.

Cold light gleamed from their blades as they silently aimed for the zombie’s limbs and neck!

Zombies’ weak spot was the head, and the valuable brain core was inside the skull.

But going for the head directly could wreck the loot, making their ambush a waste.

By the time the zombie noticed their movements, it was less than three meters away.

Driven by instinct, it barely dodged—only to have its arm chopped off by the sister.

Her brother pressed the attack, his dagger slicing beautifully through the air.

He tried to decapitate the zombie, but despite its lack of reason, the creature knew its own weakness.

It would rather take a hit to the body than let its neck get slashed.

The brother grew anxious.

He knew how rare today’s opportunity was.

Miss it, and they’d be starving for days while they set up a new ambush.

The zombie’s skin was dry and shriveled like a mummified corpse.

It snarled angrily, its desiccated muscles twitching visibly.

It lunged at the brother, claws tearing through his Enhancer Suit.

He cried out in pain, stumbling back in terror.

He’d been scratched!

But after the scream, he went quiet, gritting his teeth through the pain and fear—he didn’t want to distract his sister.

She stayed calm.

Her footwork was light as she dashed forward, closing in on the zombie and covering her brother’s failed strike.

If they could kill the zombie first, there was still a chance to save him from infection.

No use thinking about the brain core now—she went for the kill.

But the zombie was even more agile than she was.

It rolled to the ground, picked up its severed arm, and used it as a weapon.

Even detached, a zombie arm was highly infectious.

Its fingernails were sharper than daggers, and her cheap protective gear couldn’t handle repeated strikes.

She was quickly forced into a desperate defense.

What scared her the most—

Was that this zombie showed intelligence.

Tool usage was something only Tier-2 zombies did!

This zombie was evolving!

Their cheap detector couldn’t even tell which phase of Tier-1 it was in.

She drew her gun, dual-wielding blade and firearm.

Steel clashed and shots rang out as she aimed for its head.

After dozens of exchanges, she slashed again—only to have the zombie block with its arm.

Using her weight and strength, she forced the zombie to tilt backward beyond human limits.

Its spine creaked, but it didn’t feel pain.

She seized the moment, pulled the trigger, and aimed at its eye—

BANG!—intending to shatter both eyeball and brain core.

But the zombie suddenly tilted its head up.

When it straightened again, it revealed a twisted smile.

Its teeth clamped down on the bullet.

“Sis, watch out! The detector shows it’s a Tier-2 zombie now!”

Her pupils shrank in horror.

The zombie’s strength surged.

With one burst of force, it flung her away.

She used the momentum to retreat toward her brother, trying to escape with him.

She had no chance of winning against a Tier-2 zombie.

Fleeing was their only hope.

“Sis, go! Don’t drag me along!”

The brother instantly saw her intent.

But even she couldn’t outrun a Tier-2 zombie alone—let alone with him slowing her down.

His eyes turned pale, his body trembling unnaturally.

He was already starting to transform.

Zombies had suppression hierarchies.

He could feel his body instinctively fearing this Tier-2 monster.

“I’ll hold it off. You run!”

He forced himself up, battling his fear to buy time.

She knew it was the best option.

But they had been sold as rations at age eight, barely escaped the butcher’s block, and survived together for ten years in this hopeless zombie world.

If her brother died now, she’d have no will to live.

Might as well die too.

The zombie didn’t care about their feelings.

It sprinted like lightning across the ruins, charging at them.

Despair filled their eyes.

She shut her eyes, waiting for death’s pain—

But none came.

She hesitated and opened her eyes—

And saw a strange man in ancient robes saying something bizarre.

“Dry and shriveled? What the h**l is this?”

But she didn’t understand his words.

Her brother had seen the whole thing.

The man had suddenly appeared above the zombie, looked mildly surprised, and then, acting on instinct—

Stomped the thing to death.

The boy remembered squashing a cockroach when he was younger.

Same feeling.

The man, of course, was Jiang Li.

He quickly learned the local language.

“This little guy doesn’t look too good.”

His sister snapped out of it, remembering her brother was still in danger.

She took a syringe from her pack and injected it into his arm.

His rapid breathing calmed, his eyes returned to black, and the trembling stopped.

Jiang Li extended his Divine Sense.

This was a planet—and it was in the midst of a zombie crisis.

He frowned slightly.

Humanity in this world was on the brink.

“I’ve arrived in a new world,” Jiang Li contacted Bai Hongtu.

Bai Hongtu’s speech came much faster than usual.

“Let me see what kind of world it is.”

Jiang Li noticed the change.

“This world’s time flows differently than the Nine Provinces.”

“Normal,” Bai Hongtu had already expected it.

“Time flows differently in every world. After the Celestial Realm connected all worlds using the Stairway to Immortality, the time flows were balanced.”

“Those other worlds you visited before just happened to sync with the Nine Provinces.”

They each did the math.

Compared timelines—

Nine thousand years had passed in the Nine Provinces.

Only one thousand here.

“Why’s this place so messed up? Did you collapse their buildings when you showed up?”

Bai Hongtu saw the ruined buildings and overgrown weeds behind Jiang Li.

“Running your mouth again,” Jiang Li rolled his eyes.

He dragged over a snarling zombie and showed it to Bai Hongtu.

The boy’s eyes went wide.

His Zombie Detector showed—Tier-3 zombie!

He’d heard this ruined city’s strongest zombie was a Tier-3.

“The locals call them zombies. Anyone they bite becomes one.”

Hearing the familiar description, a flash of memory hit Bai Hongtu and made him shudder.

“Isn’t this just like that time, back when we were Human Sovereign candidates, and the Outer World Demon used the Demonic Disintegration Art?”

“The whole city went mad. You rushed in and killed them all—that’s how you earned the name Jiang the Butcher!”

The memory returned—one he’d rather forget.

Forced into a corner, the Outer World Demon used the Demonic Disintegration Art in Tianyuan Dynasty.

Everyone in a city went insane, biting anyone they saw.

Anyone bitten became another source of infection.

Jiang Li had carried a basket of swords and knives on his back and charged in.

He killed every infected person, dulling every blade in the process.

In his past life, Jiang Li had seen zombie movies.

Even if the government and army in those films were debatable, the danger of zombies was not.

While other Human Sovereign candidates hesitated, Jiang Li understood.

So when the Outer World Demon unleashed that crisis, he didn’t hesitate to act first.

“Yeah, it’s similar.” Jiang Li nodded.

“But we can’t assume every zombie outbreak is caused by Outer World Demons.”

He killed the terrifying zombie and took its brain core.

“Back then, the infected didn’t have these. These look like Spirit Stones—people can absorb them.”

He casually tossed the Tier-3 brain core to the siblings, who were stunned by the unexpected windfall.

“I think the Corpse-Driving Sect would love this place,” said Bai Hongtu.

Jiang Li agreed.

“If they knew about this world, they’d probably relocate the whole sect here.”
