Chapter 119: Rebirth of a Strongman in the Apocalypse
“Flying Dragon Mountain-Crushing Fist!” Luo Ying shouted out his move out of habit—it just felt more imposing that way.
With one punch, he forced the seawater away, forming a vacuum zone. The Tier 5 zombie didn’t even last a second before being blown to pieces.
After Jiang Li’s guidance, Luo Ying’s surging blood energy had been fully mobilized, unleashing combat strength beyond anything he’d ever reached before.
The other three looked at the energetic Luo Ying in shock. He now gave off an unfathomable aura. It had only been a month—how could he have changed this much?
Still, regardless of why, it was good that Luo Ying had grown stronger.
The four of them arrived 11,000 meters below the sea—nearly the deepest part of the ocean. The pressure here was extreme, enough to crush a Tier 4 zombie. Only Tier 5s could survive.
It was so deep that no sunlight reached this place. It was pitch black. Vision was completely useless, and all other senses were heavily dulled. The four had to rely solely on the movement of the currents to judge the situation.
“There are eight Tier 5 zombies. And there’s alien spaceship wreckage nearby.” Luo Ying sensed a brutal battle unfolding in the distance—and saw the root of it all: that alien escape vessel.
The beings inside the ship had just been ordinary zombies. They couldn’t handle the water pressure and were crushed into bloody mist, releasing the zombie virus into the deep sea, which then spread to the shallows and land, sweeping across the world.
Octopuses, killer whales, anglerfish, jellyfish—the eight zombified marine creatures had changed dramatically from when they were alive. The octopus’s tentacles were now covered in eyes, each eye with a mouth; the killer whale had grown a second head at the end of its tail, making it impossible to tell where its brain core was; the anglerfish had grown massive—fifteen meters long—and its forehead appendage had morphed from a lure into a human head.
These eight mutated, zombified marine monsters were gathered here. A Tier 6 zombie was about to be born from among them.
Previously, there had been far more Tier 5 zombies in this area. But after relentless fighting, only these eight remained.
“Wait a little longer—until they kill each other off and only seven are left,” Luo Ying said.
More zombies didn’t mean better odds. Too many, and they’d be overwhelmed. Too few, and it meant the survivors had absorbed too many brain cores and couldn’t be treated like regular Tier 5s. They’d still be hard to defeat.
Only when the number of Tier 5s reached a level the four of them could barely handle would they have a chance. And that number, Luo Ying had calculated, was seven.
The others understood and nodded, gathering their strength.
Eventually, the jellyfish lost to the octopus and died brutally. The octopus absorbed its brain core, its body glowing faintly as it took a step toward Tier 6.
Luo Ying signaled to attack, charging in first. The other three followed close behind.
The octopus, killer whale, and anglerfish were the hardest to deal with among the remaining seven, so Luo Ying chose to fight them. The other four zombies were left to the remaining three.
The zombies were stunned by Luo Ying’s sudden strike, then filled with fury. How dare weak humans interfere in their battle?
But they quickly realized these humans weren’t so weak. The Flying Dragon Mountain-Crushing Fist was unstoppable and awe-inspiring—Luo Ying’s three opponents struggled to withstand it.
The three zombies joined forces to deal with Luo Ying.
The other four zombies and the three human fighters ended up evenly matched. Neither side could gain the upper hand.
No one on Luo Ying’s side used weapons—they fought with their bare bodies. At Tier 5, their strength was too overwhelming. No weapon could handle that power.
“Die!”
Luo Ying roared, mind and body as one. His punch was unstoppable—so powerful it formed the phantom of a true dragon.
The dragon dove into the sea—nothing could block it. The three zombies flinched for a moment. Luo Ying seized the opening, fists flying as he shattered them one by one. His black hair floated, his blood-red eyes blazing—like an ancient war god reborn. He was terrifying.
After finishing off his enemies, Luo Ying went to help the other three.
The remaining four zombies didn’t stand a chance. The humans joined forces and wiped them out.
“We… we really did it?”
When the last zombie fell, Luo Ying still couldn’t believe it. He had fought with the resolve to die, but under Jiang Li’s teaching, his power had grown dramatically, and he’d completely turned the tide.
If it had been his former self, even calling this a nine-in-ten chance of death would’ve been optimistic.
This wasn’t just about wiping out the sea zombies. It meant humanity now held seven Tier 5 brain cores. Whether to birth a Tier 6 Enhancer or create several more Tier 5s, they now had options.
Zombies on land would no longer be able to stand against humanity.
Victory was within reach!
Pfft—
Luo Ying looked down to see a blade-like metal shard stabbed through his heart. He turned in disbelief to face his three teammates.
“Why…”
We won—why kill me? And where did that weapon even come from… Luo Ying had too many questions, but he could feel his life slipping away, too fast to speak.
The attacker, seeing he could still move, twisted the blade, shredding Luo Ying’s heart.
“Why? Because you’re too strong,” one of them said with a fake smile. “We’re going to build a new nation. And you, as humanity’s strongest, are an unstable factor. Of course we had to eliminate you.”
“As for the weapon, we got it from that crashed alien ship. As expected of alien tech—it can pierce even a Tier 5 Enhancer’s body.”
Luo Ying’s pupils dimmed, dying with boundless hatred.
……
“You three traitors are all dead men!”
Suddenly, Luo Ying felt alive and bursting with energy. He bolted upright and shouted in fury.
But the scene before him left him dazed.
Bright sunlight. A clean classroom. A college entrance exam countdown. Shocked classmates. An even more furious teacher.
“Luo Ying!” the teacher shouted angrily. “It’s bad enough that you sleep through class, but now you’re acting crazy?!”
“Why are you all still alive? Where are the zombies?” Luo Ying blurted out. He remembered the day the outbreak began—his school fell, and he was the only one in his class who survived.
The teacher’s face darkened, about to erupt. But Luo Ying suddenly realized something and quickly asked, “What year is this?”
The teacher sneered and didn’t answer such a dumb question. The classmates looked down, trying to stifle their laughter. What’s up with Luo Ying today? Challenging the teacher three times already?
Luo Ying took out the phone he’d secretly brought and checked the screen. His pupils contracted.
He could never forget this date.
The day the zombie apocalypse began.
He had gone back ten years!
Clutching his phone, Luo Ying dropped to his knees and burst into tears.
There’s still time. Everything can still be saved. His dead sister, his zombified friends…
There’s still a chance to change everything!
