Chapter 121: Nascent Soul Stage in Six Months?

“So far, you haven’t touched anything in this world, right? Try making contact with something.”

Jiang Li had been floating mid-air while speaking with Luo Ying. Now, following Immortal Changcun’s advice, he lowered his feet to the ground.

But the moment he landed, he realized—his feet didn’t actually touch anything. He passed straight through the ground, half of his body phasing into it like he was just an illusion in this world.

“This is the world’s self-protection law. As someone from another world, you can’t directly affect a world that has had its time reversed. Once ten years have passed and time returns to normal, only then will you be able to interfere directly,” Immortal Changcun explained.

Jiang Li instantly scanned the planet with his divine sense, locking onto every zombie. But when he tried to attack, he was wrapped in an unknown force that stopped him.

Clenching his fists, Jiang Li tried to break through the force. Almost there… just a bit more… Jiang Li’s heart surged with hope. This mysterious force was strong, but still weaker than him.

“Stop! Stop! What are you doing?! The whole world’s about to collapse!” Brahma Tower shrieked in panic. It was the first to detect abnormalities—the very fabric of space was starting to break.

Not just one area, but the entire universe’s space was about to shatter.

Jiang Li quickly pulled back. He finally understood: the force stopping him wasn’t an enemy, but the world’s own laws and order. If he pushed through and broke those laws, the whole world would collapse. Sure, the zombies would be gone—but so would everyone else.

D*mn, even the laws here are so extreme. All or nothing, huh?

Jiang Li turned to Luo Ying with a warm smile. “Xiao Ying, let me ask you something. If I don’t help, could you eliminate all the zombies in six months?”

Luo Ying’s eyes went wide. A shiver ran down his spine. What was Mr. Jiang saying? Eliminate all the zombies in six months?!

With what?!

He reminded him, “Mr. Jiang, the zombie whale that’s about to appear is a legit Tier 4 zombie.”

Sea creatures were naturally strong, and whales were among the toughest. The whales that made it to land had already fought and survived brutal battles in the deep sea, devouring countless brain cores to evolve into Tier 4 zombies.

If they weren’t Tier 4, the world’s militaries wouldn’t be powerless to stop them.

Luo Ying thought to himself—he spent five whole years reaching Tier 4.

Sure, now that he’d been reborn, he could get ahead of the game and hoard brain cores—but even then, his body had to be able to handle it.

If he constantly teetered on the brink of collapse, carefully timing every core absorption, it would still take at least a year and a half to reach Tier 4.

And even if he did become a Tier 4 Enhancer, there was no way he could eliminate all zombies.

Jiang Li saw Luo Ying’s expression and knew he’d asked too much. A Tier 4 zombie, in cultivation terms, was equivalent to the Nascent Soul Stage.

So Luo Ying, in six months, would need to either reach Tier 4 or reach the Nascent Soul Stage.

Even if Luo Ying started cultivating right now, there’s no way he’d reach Nascent Soul in six months. Even raising pigs takes six months before they’re ready. How could forming a Nascent Soul be as fast as raising pigs?!

F***, I chose the wrong mission. Jiang Li cursed inwardly. He should’ve known—system missions always looked simple, but then threw in all sorts of ridiculous complications.

He deeply regretted it.

If he’d known, there’s no way he would’ve picked the six-month mission. Two years might’ve actually been doable.

Even if he couldn’t get the full fragment, half would’ve been fine.

“I might not be able to help you directly,” Jiang Li said regretfully, explaining the situation to Luo Ying.

Luo Ying looked a bit down after hearing that.

“But I will help. The Enhancer system, modified personally by me and combined with cultivation techniques, can get you to Tier 4 within two years—enough to sweep the planet,” Jiang Li said.

That would nearly cut Luo Ying’s timeline in half.

Even if there were no mission, just knowing that over a billion people would die in the apocalypse made Jiang Li determined to help Luo Ying grow as fast as possible—to save more lives.

“Thank you,” Luo Ying said sincerely. He didn’t understand things like world laws, but he could tell Mr. Jiang genuinely wanted to help him—he just couldn’t act directly for now.

Luo Ying glanced at his phone and saw that the time of the zombie whale’s landfall was fast approaching.

“Mr. Jiang, please allow me to set everything else aside—I need to go save my sister.”

“Go.”

Jiang Li knew there was no time to delay. They had six months—plenty of time to figure out how to end the zombie crisis.
……
The old, narrow stairwell echoed with hurried footsteps. Luo Ying rushed home, flinging the door open—then suddenly slowed down as he realized he was about to see his sister for the first time in ten years.

His parents were gone. He and his sister had depended on each other. But in the early days of the previous apocalypse, she’d already turned into a zombie.

His last memory of her was lying in bed on a school morning, weakly saying goodbye. After that, he could never bring himself to return to this city, haunted by grief.

Luo Ying opened the bedroom door, and the memory of his sister overlapped with reality. He dropped to his knees, gently holding her small hands, and whispered softly, “Xiao Zhu…”

Luo Zhu had fair skin and delicate features—she was clearly a budding peerless beauty.

Her long lashes fluttered as she slowly opened her eyes. “Brother?”

“I’m here,” Luo Ying replied, on the verge of tears. It felt like everything he endured in the past ten years—all that suffering—had been just to hear her say that one word again.

“Ahem, not to ruin the moment, but I should let you know—the whale’s on the way,” Jiang Li said, using his divine sense to detect a whale flapping its fleshy wings and flying out of the ocean. Though it wasn’t heading toward Luo Ying’s city, it was still close.

“And this is…?” Luo Zhu looked at Jiang Li in confusion. She’d assumed her brother had taken leave to check on her illness and brought a friend.

But this “friend” was dressed in ancient robes, and he was holding a pagoda.

“I’m Jiang Li. Most who know me call me the Human Sovereign Jiang,” he said with a smile.

Luo Zhu replied with a confused “Oh…” She had no idea what the title “Human Sovereign” meant.

“Xiao Zhu, you might not believe me, but the zombies are coming. We have to be ready. That’s why I came back!” Luo Ying held her hand tightly, eyes resolute.

Still feverish, Luo Zhu weakly shook her head. “Brother, you’ve never lied to me before. I believe you.”

Her trust was like a shot of adrenaline. Luo Ying jumped up, ready to face the apocalypse.

He locked all the doors and windows, stacked furniture against the entrance, blocked the windows with the wardrobe—leaving only a small gap to see outside.

They had plenty of food to last months. He filled multiple basins with water from the tap.

The first day of the zombie whale’s arrival would be the most dangerous. People would be getting infected constantly. You never knew which corner a zombie might jump out from. This was not the time to go out.

And even if he did kill zombies now, it’d be pointless. Newly turned zombies weren’t even Tier 1 yet. Their brain cores were useless to Enhancers.

He’d wait a few days—until the zombies had devoured enough people and leveled up—then he’d start his hunt.

“The whale is here.”
