Chapter 130: Killing Formation to Annihilate the Undead
What Mouse Bro saw was something no one in this world had ever witnessed.
The wide streets were packed with zombies, flooding into the city from all directions. Their eyes were blood-red, drool dripped from their mouths, and their jaws repeatedly snapped open and shut—it was a horrifying sight.
Some zombies were monstrously strong, jamming their limbs into the walls and climbing up skyscrapers using both hands and feet. Others crouched like frogs, leaping from rooftop to rooftop.
It was as if they were under some kind of command, all rushing toward a single target, with Qiyu City merely along the way.
The detector kept beeping non-stop—Tier-1 zombie, Tier-1 zombie, Tier-1 zombie. Mouse Bro was trembling with fear, hands frozen in place. Just one glance, and the detector could pick up dozens of Tier-1 zombies.
What was even more terrifying was that Tier-2 zombies seemed to be among the horde—and not just a few of them.
“How is this possible! Tier-2 zombies are always like overlords, they never hang around with regular or Tier-1 zombies!”
“Mouse Bro, the detector’s broken,” his buddy said stiffly. He tried to force a self-deprecating smile, wanting to joke that they must’ve bought a fake device, but he just couldn’t manage it. “The detector’s even showing Tier-3 zombies.”
It was a massive white elephant. Each step made the ground tremble, and a single stomp crushed the cars in its path into scrap metal.
Other zombies cowered and didn’t dare get close to it, yet they still had to follow.
The zombie hierarchy was strict—higher-tier zombies could command lower-tier ones. The lower tiers had no choice but to obey. When high-tier zombies gathered the lower ones and drove them to storm human safe zones, that’s how corpse tides were formed.
“You can still run now,” said a chilling ghostly voice that appeared behind Mouse Bro and his buddy.
Mouse Bro jumped in fright, then breathed a sigh of relief after recognizing the figure. “It’s Big Bro Luo Zhu and the Jiang Family’s Ancestor!”
Jiang Li’s face was full of black lines. What the h*ll do you mean by the Jiang Family’s Ancestor?
“While the zombies haven’t surrounded this place yet, run that way—you’ll get back to the safe zone,” Jiang Li pointed them down a clear path.
“Is that a corpse tide?” Mouse Bro remembered Luo Ying once talking about this term and finally realized what this zombie army was.
When he saw the so-called Ancestor of the Luo Family nod, Mouse Bro swallowed hard, grabbed his stunned buddy, and bolted, rushing back to the safe zone to report what he’d seen.
After Mouse Bro left, Jiang Li said, “They’re gone now. Come on out.”
Luo Ying stepped out from another room, a complicated look in his eyes as he gazed in the direction Mouse Bro had fled.
In his previous life, Mouse Bro had been a good friend. Despite his shifty looks, he was actually a loyal guy who once saved Luo Ying’s life.
Back then, the two of them had come to explore Qiyu City together, but they were discovered by a Tier-2 zombie. Mouse Bro felt it was his fault for dragging Luo Ying into danger, so he took responsibility and gave his life to create a chance for Luo Ying to escape.
In other words, if the original timeline had played out, Mouse Bro would’ve been killed by a Tier-2 zombie three days ago when he first came to Qiyu City. But because Luo Ying arrived earlier this time and killed all the Tier-2 zombies, Mouse Bro survived.
What Luo Ying didn’t expect was that, even before the corpse tide arrived, Mouse Bro came running right back.
This guy really knew how to stir up trouble.
Luo Ying didn’t want to face Mouse Bro. They used to be close, but now those memories belonged to Luo Ying alone. In this life, Mouse Bro looked at him with awe and distance, which made him uncomfortable. So he had his sister and Jiang Li talk Mouse Bro into leaving.
Jiang Li extended his divine sense over the whole city—over a million zombies were now within the formation’s range.
“Activate the formation.”
Luo Ying and Luo Zhu injected spiritual energy into the formation’s core. The water and fire dual spiritual roots, along with the ice spiritual root, generated spiritual energy from their dantian. As their Zhoutian cycles ran, the energy spread through their entire bodies and flowed from their palms. The massive, complex killing formation activated silently.
It was as if an invisible thread appeared, passing through the buried brain cores one by one, lighting them up. The thread connected the energy within each core, weaving repeatedly into a massive net. The million-strong zombie horde, like fish in a trap, were destined to become prey the moment the net appeared!
If someone were hovering in the sky, looking down at the city, they would see glowing spots lighting up all across town. Connected, they formed geometric patterns—both beautiful and powerful. Not a single glowing point was redundant. This was the crystallization of the wisdom of sages through the ages.
The Nine Provinces didn’t advocate senseless slaughter, but that didn’t mean they lacked large-scale killing formations. In fact, it was the opposite—there were a ridiculous number of killing formations.
Before the Stairway to Immortality disappeared, demonic cultivators ran rampant, unrestrained and lawless. Many of them were immensely talented, and blood sacrifices were common. If it weren’t for righteous immortals objecting to mass slaughter, the demonic cultivators might’ve laid out earth-shattering killing formations across the entire Nine Provinces.
These killing formations were invaluable legacies left behind by demonic cultivators.
Invisible sword qi condensed in the air, radiating an eerie chill. Luo Ying and Luo Zhu were the core and sub-core of the formation. Luo Ying, being slightly weaker, took the sub-core position. Luo Zhu, at the Foundation Establishment Stage, stood at the main core. The entire Infernal Demon Grand Formation revolved around her.
Sword qi swept out in all directions, severing heads in a single stroke. The ground trembled, buildings collapsed!
Each frigid blast of sword qi struck a zombie right at the neck—heads rolled like marbles scattering across the ground.
The sword qi came too fast, too fierce. Before the zombies even realized what was happening, their heads were already separated from their bodies.
The formation circulated, channeling every last drop of spiritual energy from the brain cores into the sword qi.
Jiang Li had also instructed the siblings to lay down a Spirit-Gathering Formation beneath the city. Now, the city’s spiritual energy density far surpassed other regions. All the spiritual energy that had accumulated these past days was now being fully utilized.
The killing formation was like a raging inferno. The Spirit-Gathering Formation was dry kindling and oil thrown into the blaze. The resulting power was terrifying.
Whether it was regular zombies or Tier-1 or Tier-2 zombies, none of them could withstand this meticulously prepared sword strike!
If this were the Nine Provinces, Qi Refining and Foundation Establishment cultivators would have spirit talismans, spiritual treasures, and all sorts of protective measures—so a killing formation’s power would be significantly weakened. But these brainless zombies had no such defenses. Faced with a formation left behind by demonic cultivator powerhouses, all they could do was stretch out their necks and wait to be slaughtered!
A few minutes later, the zombies fell one by one. The entire city reeked with a nauseating stench of blood.
Massive numbers of brain cores lay hidden within the zombies’ skulls, waiting for someone to reap the rewards. But Luo Ying and Luo Zhu didn’t move to collect them. Instead, their eyes were locked onto the only zombie still standing.
The white elephant zombie—Tier 3.
This was the expected opponent. From the moment Jiang Li set up the formation, he never planned to include the Tier-3 zombie in the trap. He only intended to sweep away the ones below Tier 2.
This Tier-3 zombie was just the right challenge for the siblings to practice on.
“Kill,” Luo Zhu said softly. Her tone was flat, already in full battle mode.
“Kill!” Luo Ying shouted, charging at the enraged white elephant zombie.
