Chapter 295: Specially-Made Remote Communication Talismans

Jiang Li’s clash with Black and White Impermanence had been brief. By the time the battle ended and the two ghosts rushed back to the Underworld, the Brahma Tower arrived.

This was its first time witnessing Underworld beings use the Dao of Life and Death.

“Well? Did you figure out how they left?” Jiang Li asked, hopeful.

Unfortunately, the Brahma Tower let him down.

“Nope. The Dao of Life and Death is totally different from the Dao of Space—completely separate. They left using the Dao of Life and Death. I can’t replicate it.”

Jiang Li wasn’t surprised. After all, when Black and White Impermanence first descended into the zombie world, the Brahma Tower didn’t sense a thing—he had noticed it first.

“What’s that you’re holding?”

The front of the Book of Life and Death was inscribed in Celestial Realm script: “Book of Life and Death (Replica).” The word “replica” was clearly marked.

The Celestial Realm, Underworld, and Nine Provinces all used the same written language.

“Book of Life and Death. A fake one.” Jiang Li flipped through it—completely blank. “White Impermanence said you can only use it if you’ve mastered the Dao of Life and Death.”

Jiang Li figured the thing wasn’t all that useful—no one in the Nine Provinces practiced the Dao of Life and Death.

The Brahma Tower looked visibly disappointed. “I thought we could use it to see how long us Spiritual Treasures have left to live.”

Jiang Li gave it a look—this tower’s thought process was truly unique.

“You alright?” Jiang Li descended, ignoring the surprised stares around him and asked Luo Zhu with concern.

Even after Black and White Impermanence had gone, people were still shaken. Their hands trembled, and many couldn’t even stand.

They thought they were going to die.

They had seen with their own eyes how Jiang Li fought the Underworld envoys—no, how he utterly crushed them. They now understood just how terrifying he was.

How did Luo Zhu know him?

They had always thought Luo Zhu was just a pretty face—vain and dramatic. But now it seemed she wasn’t being aloof—she just found them immature.

Luo Zhu did find them immature. They lacked a sense of urgency.

After the zombie crisis, who could guarantee no other dangers would follow? Today was the perfect example.

She had spent six months alongside her brother, Jiang Li, hearing all sorts of strange and dangerous stories. Her worldview had already surpassed the ordinary.

She was going to compete with her brother for the Human Sovereign’s throne.

“Thanks to Mr. Jiang, I’m fine,” Luo Zhu quickly calmed herself.

Jiang Li nodded. “They wouldn’t have been able to hurt you.”

During the fight, Jiang Li noticed that Black and White Impermanence passed through the world’s objects—meaning they couldn’t actually affect the world.

The Dao of Life and Death couldn’t directly interfere with a world undergoing time reversal.

“Xiao Zhu, are you okay?” Luo Ying arrived in his Shadow King Buddha form, rushing over. Wuzhi was the last to arrive.

“Is that Mr. Luo?!” people gasped. Luo Ying’s image had appeared in newspapers, on TV, and online. Everyone knew what he looked like.

“Wait… Don’t tell me Luo Zhu isn’t just someone with the same name… She’s that Luo Zhu—the one who can rival Mr. Luo—and his biological sister?!”

Everyone inhaled sharply, stunned by the sudden revelations about Luo Zhu’s identity.

What they didn’t know was that Luo Ying was currently at mid Foundation Establishment, while Luo Zhu was already at late Foundation Establishment. If they fought now, Luo Ying would likely lose.

“Let’s talk at home.” Jiang Li used divine sense to see that the government had surrounded the school—clearly hoping to keep this incident under wraps.

They didn’t dare stop Luo Ying. The four people and one tower returned to his home.

“Mr. Luo.” Someone greeted him respectfully at the door.

“With Mr. Jiang here, don’t call me that,” Luo Ying turned and explained. “This is a liaison sent by the state.”

“Come on in.”

Black and White Impermanence’s appearance wasn’t just Luo Zhu’s issue—it concerned the entire planet.

The liaison recognized Jiang Li—this was the legendary ancestor of the Luo family. Yep, it was him, and he even brought the tower.

“Also, call Immortal Elder Changcun and Bai Hongtu over too.”

Jiang Li had the Brahma Tower summon the two for a joint discussion.

He shared everything about the encounter with Black and White Impermanence and his deductions. Immortal Elder Changcun nodded, agreeing with Jiang Li’s view.

He found Jiang Li’s luck ridiculous. He had been wandering the Celestial Realm for tens of thousands of years and had never met anyone from the Underworld—yet Jiang Li ran into them during a casual stroll.

The liaison sat there, jaw dropped. He had never imagined they had all originally been dead. It was Luo Ying who had used incomprehensible powers to reshape time and resurrect them.

Even immortals couldn’t do better.

Luo Ying hadn’t expected his time reversal would have aftershocks—but it was beyond his control anyway.

“Too bad Black and White Impermanence left so quickly. They didn’t even take their book. Otherwise, I could’ve explained everything and found out the Underworld’s stance on this.”

Jiang Li shook his head, disappointed. He still didn’t know what urgent business had called them away—he had even hoped to hitch a ride to the Celestial Realm.

But there was no rush. Even a replica Book of Life and Death was critically important to the Underworld. Sooner or later, they’d come looking for him.

Charging a “storage fee” by asking to visit the Underworld—surely that wasn’t too much to ask.

“Old Bai, draw two communication talismans for Luo Ying and Luo Zhu,” Jiang Li said. Bai Hongtu wasn’t invited just to watch.

“These cost a lot of blood, you know.”

“I’ll treat you to blood tofu when we get back. Pig blood or duck blood—you pick.”

“You stingy b*stard.” Bai Hongtu bit his finger and began painting talismans on yellow paper.

Remote communication talismans were extremely hard to make. Even after reaching the Tribulation Stage, Bai Hongtu could only produce them in limited quantities. They required his true blood, and recovery took time.

Without needing more instructions, Bai Hongtu created talismans to Jiang Li’s specifications.

“Considering you probably won’t encounter otherworldly objects, these are specially made just for you. Voice-activated—no spiritual energy needed. I’ve already pre-stored energy. They’ll last a hundred years.” Bai Hongtu taught the siblings how to use the custom-made talismans.

Luo Ying gave it a try. His fingers passed through the talisman—it wasn’t physically tangible.

“If Black and White Impermanence come back, just say you’ve got me behind you. Based on the Book of Life and Death, I have loads of karmic merit—they should give me some face.”

“Then use the talisman to contact me.”

Luo Ying and Luo Zhu felt Mr. Jiang was as reliable as ever.

“As for you—or rather, your nation—you can publicize what happened today or treat it as classified. Up to you. I won’t interfere.”

The liaison nodded furiously, like a pecking chicken. After meeting Jiang Li, he realized this man probably wasn’t just the Luo family’s ancestor. He had a different identity—and powers far beyond what the state had estimated.

Once everyone had left, the liaison cautiously asked Luo Ying,

“Mr. Luo, just who is this Mr. Jiang?”

“Oh, him… He’s the one who truly saved our world.”

The liaison quietly observed Luo Ying’s expression—and saw nothing but admiration and longing.
