Chapter 349: Love Letters for Jiang Li

Dao Sect, Sect Master’s Bedroom.

Bai Hongtu was currently undertaking an unprecedented endeavor—proving he could surpass Jiang Li.

Because Bai Hongtu had never been inferior to anyone in his life, he must be able to surpass Jiang Li.

But Jiang Li was terrifyingly strong and couldn’t be considered human.

Proof failed.

From cultivation standards, Jiang Li was merely (crossed out) at the Mahayana Stage, not yet immortal, still within human boundaries. Jiang Li counted as human.

Because Jiang Li was human, and Bai Hongtu had never been inferior to anyone, therefore Bai Hongtu was not inferior to Jiang Li.

Bai Hongtu continued his proof.

Since Jiang Li had stagnated at the Mahayana Stage for so long without improvement, it proved his cultivation path had reached its limit. Meanwhile, Bai Hongtu kept advancing, meaning he would eventually surpass Jiang Li.

Proof successful.

Bai Hongtu finished writing his proof steps with satisfaction.

To strengthen his confidence in defeating Jiang Li, Bai Hongtu repeated this proof process daily.

“Sect Master, Holy Maiden Jingxin from the Red Dust Pure Land has arrived.”

“I’ll be there shortly. Holy Maiden Jingxin is an honored guest—don’t neglect her. Serve her some hawthorn juice.”

“Yes.”

Holy Maiden Jingxin sat properly, sipping the sour hawthorn juice, wondering why Bai Hongtu had summoned her.

After organizing his things, Bai Hongtu took out a blank sheet from his bedroom: “Holy Maiden, could you write some characters for me?”

“Alright.”

After carefully examining Holy Maiden Jingxin’s delicate handwriting, Bai Hongtu sat properly at a nearby table and began writing with utmost seriousness.

Soon after, Bai Hongtu handed Holy Maiden Jingxin a stack of pink papers.

When Holy Maiden Jingxin took them, her hands trembled, nearly scattering the papers.

“Th-this is…”

“These are love letters for you,” Bai Hongtu stated bluntly while staring at her.

Holy Maiden Jingxin never expected Bai Hongtu to harbor such feelings. She rejected without hesitation: “Sect Master Bai, I like Jiang—”

But Bai Hongtu continued: “Then send these love letters to Jiang Li—under your name, of course.”

“???”

Bai Hongtu then took out various novel but useless trinkets from his storage ring.

“These are items I collected across the Nine Provinces, perfect for couples. I’ll give them to you, then you give them to Jiang Li.”

“???” Holy Maiden Jingxin felt her brain short-circuiting.

Seeing her slow reaction, Bai Hongtu lamented:

“Holy Maiden, at this rate, when will you ever catch Jiang Li’s heart?”

“As Jiang Li’s friend, I’m deeply concerned about his future. Without a partner, one might spiral into extremes—even self-destruction.”

“I believe Jiang Li shows such tendencies!” Bai Hongtu declared confidently.

“After centuries of friendship, I’ve watched your relationship stagnate with growing anxiety.”

“See? I even forged your handwriting for these love letters! With these couple items, just deliver them to Jiang Li to bridge your distance.” Bai Hongtu feigned benevolence.

But Holy Maiden Jingxin sensed something amiss.

Blushing fiercely, she refused repeatedly: “No no no, this is too embarrassing!”

“I’m not suggesting instant commitment! Take gradual steps—let nature take its course.”

Bai Hongtu then produced a Nine Provinces map marked with heart-shaped locations.

“I’ve pinpointed prime dating spots! Like Moonview Cliff—80% confession success rate!”

“Or Netherworld Canyon! Its gloom fosters intimacy—every couple emerges closer!”

“And here—”

Like a tour guide, Bai Hongtu enthusiastically explained each romantic hotspot’s merits.

By his logic, even two rocks could breed baby rocks under his guidance!

This was Bai Hongtu’s masterplan against Jiang Li.

Brute force wouldn’t work—only clever, unconventional approaches.

After monopolizing hawthorns, Bai Hongtu devised another scheme—make Jiang Li fall in love.

Love breeds foolishness! A lovestruck Jiang Li might blunder during their battles, allowing Bai Hongtu’s Spirit Plant Array to secure victory!

His triumph was within reach.

But one obstacle remained—how to make Jiang Li fall?

Bai Hongtu targeted Holy Maiden Jingxin.

Though many female cultivators adored Jiang Li, his intuition as a frequent Joyous Sect patron deemed her the best candidate.

Seeing Holy Maiden Jingxin waver, Bai Hongtu smelled success.

“I… I’ll try,” she mustered courage.

“Sect Master, a visitor requests audience.”

Bai Hongtu dismissed immediately: “Not now.”

What guest could outweigh surpassing Jiang Li?

The disciple whispered: “It’s Human Sovereign Jiang… He seems here to demand answers.”

“I’ll slip away—”

“Old Bai, where you slipping to?” Jiang Li materialized, blocking Bai Hongtu’s escape with an amused smirk.

Bai Hongtu grinned awkwardly: “I meant cooking ‘Slip Three Dishes’ for you!”

Turning to disciples, he barked: “Can’t you see the Human Sovereign? Fetch hawthorn juice!”

“You dare mention hawthorns?”

Bai Hongtu straightened solemnly: “Brother Jiang, you misunderstand. Do you think I monopolized hawthorns to deny you candied fruits? I’d never!”

“You know hawthorn quality varies wildly—some vendors even sell wormy candied fruits! This pained me deeply, so Dao Sect vowed to cultivate premium hawthorns!”

“As a Tribulation Transcendence cultivator, I must ensure food safety! We deserve healthy, delicious treats!”

“Rest assured—Human Sovereign Hall won’t be billed!”

Jiang Li silently watched Bai Hongtu’s fabrications.

Panicking, Bai Hongtu diverted attention to the nervous Holy Maiden Jingxin.

“The Holy Maiden has something for you.” While Jiang Li turned, Bai Hongtu mouthed: Give the letters.

“This… is for you.” Holy Maiden Jingxin whispered, studying her shoes instead of meeting Jiang Li’s gaze.

Jiang Li accepted the pink love letter with bemusement, its saccharine prose chilling him to the bone.

Upon finishing, he suddenly said: “Old Bai, did you write this for Jingxin?”

Bai Hongtu gasped: “I perfectly mimicked her handwriting! How could you tell?”

Jiang Li pointed at the signature: “It’s signed with your name.”
