Chapter 603: A Strange Phenomenon
“You’re certain it’s a Bai Ze?” Jiang Li hadn’t expected this answer.
“There’s no mistake. Although Bai Ze are extinct in our world now, before that, the Immortal Beast Observation Manual had detailed descriptions about Bai Ze.”
“That black-robed figure’s various characteristics are enough for me to confirm his true form is a Bai Ze.”
Bai Hongtu pondered: “Being able to maintain human form indicates the other party is at least Celestial Immortal level, and a Celestial Immortal-level Bai Ze… no, the other party is already a Golden Immortal now.”
“Could it be the Executor of Karma?”
Jiang Li took out the Communication Talisman and asked Immortal Elder Changcun: “Elder, are there many Bai Ze in the Immortal Realm?”
Immortal Elder Changcun didn’t ask why Jiang Li was inquiring about this. After thinking for a moment, he said: “Not many, and they’re all Earthly Immortals. The only Celestial Immortal-level Bai Ze is the first generation Baize Emperor.”
“Why are they all Earthly Immortals?”
“Because Bai Ze are too intelligent and difficult to control. Immortal beasts are ultimately still beasts, and the immortals want obedient immortal beasts.”
“So the Immortal Realm deliberately suppresses Bai Ze, preventing them from growing up. The first generation Baize Emperor was an exception – he used various rule loopholes and diverse knowledge to become a Celestial Immortal.”
Jiang Li disconnected the Communication Talisman: “Confirmed, it’s the first generation Baize Emperor, the Executor of Karma.”
The Entropy Increase Ruler didn’t realize the problem: “What’s wrong? Is there something about Bai Ze?”
“On the Ninth Mother Star, we encountered someone who claimed to have been instructed in a dream by the Executor of Karma to make the Stellar Weapon public knowledge, using public pressure to force you to dismantle the Stellar Weapons.”
“We know about this matter. It’s not just the Ninth Mother Star – other Mother Stars have similar situations. I even captured a child who claimed to be the leader of the Truth Alliance. Most of those children come from official and merchant families, very idle and rebellious, dreaming of being heroes, thinking the world is dark and that they need to save it.”
Jiang Li wasn’t surprised that the Entropy Increase Ruler knew about this. With cameras spread throughout the entire world, what could escape their notice?
“Then why didn’t you deal with that child on the Ninth Mother Star?”
“Because his methods are too childish to pose any threat.” The Entropy Increase Ruler shrugged – Kong Yi’s methods only made him laugh.
He continued: “From those children, we learned they were all incited in their dreams by someone called the Executor of Karma. From what you’re saying, the Executor of Karma is the Bai Ze we met before?”
Bai Hongtu nodded: “Yes, that’s why we find it strange. This person’s behavior is too abnormal.”
Jiang Li suddenly asked: “Before this, has your world experienced disasters that could potentially destroy the world? I mean besides those strange inventions.”
“Yes, but those were all five or six thousand years ago. They were all very covert methods, but under our surveillance, none of those disasters caused any major waves.”
Yu Yin turned to ask Jiang Li: “What are you thinking?”
“I have a speculation.”
“Tell us.”
“During these six thousand years, whether it was sending Fallen Immortals or using schemes and conspiracies to cause chaos, none of it was done by the Executor of Karma.”
“Then who was it?”
“The Executor of Honghu.”
Bai Hongtu and Yu Yin were stunned, instantly understanding Jiang Li’s meaning.
Jiang Li continued: “From the existing evidence, it appears one Celestial Immortal was responsible for destroying certain worlds, with no overlap between them.”
“After the Executor of Honghu died, it’s possible the Executor of Karma took over the Executor of Honghu’s territory.”
“Then why did he leave us the method to save the world before?” The Entropy Increase Ruler couldn’t understand – they had always thought the black-robed Bai Ze was a good person, like an Immortal Realm undercover agent.
“Save the world? He’s not that kind-hearted.”
“If you knew about his plans in other worlds, you wouldn’t think he’s a good person. The fact that he only left the world-saving method in your world means there’s something he wants to know about your world.”
“And from his behavior of deliberately hiding his identity, he doesn’t want the Immortal Realm to know either.”
The three Rulers frowned and thought for a while. The Entropy Increase Ruler said uncertainly: “It might be related to a phenomenon we’ve observed.”
“What phenomenon?”
“It’s hard to describe. I’d better take you to see it.”
The three Rulers brought Jiang Li and the others to a corner of the universe. This place was surrounded by multiple arrays, a highly classified and extremely concealed location that couldn’t be detected by others of the same level unless they approached closely.
“The government calls this the Cosmic Data Observation Center. We three brothers call this place the monitoring room.”
Entering the Cosmic Data Observation Center, the first thing that caught their eyes were rows of neatly arranged videotapes.
“These videotapes have been specially processed and can be preserved for over ten thousand years.”
“This is the Mother Star Eye, observing various things on the Mother Stars.”
“This is the Cosmic Eye, observing the laws of the universe.”
“This is the Void Eye, observing events in the void, guarding against great demons.”
The Void Eye was the Small Metal Boxes installed on the dimensional barriers.
“Over ten days ago, I observed you three through the Void Eye. You pressed against the camera really startled me – I thought great demons had mutated.”
The Entropy Increase Ruler displayed a photo showing Jiang Li and the other two with their heads together, observing the Void Eye, looking very much like they were taking a group photo.
Yu Yin covered her face, while Jiang Li and Bai Hongtu found it interesting and asked the Entropy Increase Ruler to develop it into a photo.
Bai Hongtu added: “Make it high-definition, the clearer the better.”
While developing the photo, the Entropy Increase Ruler said: “Through subsequent observation, I determined you were from another world, unrelated to great demons. So I decided to appear and communicate with you.”
“Before you three appeared, I observed a strange phenomenon through the Void Eye.”
The Entropy Increase Ruler rewound the monitoring records several years. A statue floated quietly in the void, unaffected by the Astral Winds blowing around it.
Bai Hongtu exclaimed: “The Venerable Shenzang Statue?”
Jiang Li and Yu Yin looked grave – this was a complete Venerable Shenzang Statue.
“You recognize it?” The Entropy Increase Ruler discovered these three knew quite a lot.
“Keep playing the monitoring first. What exactly is the strange phenomenon?”
“When I discovered this statue of unknown design in the void, I found it very strange and suspected it was an immortal artifact – otherwise how could it float in the void without any damage?”
“Just when I was about to go into the void to retrieve it for research, something strange happened.”
On the screen, the Venerable Shenzang Statue floated quietly. Suddenly, a small black dot appeared ahead.
The small black dot became two, two became four, four became eight, continuously multiplying.
By the time the Venerable Shenzang Statue made contact with the black dots, they had already become a small patch of black tide.
Something even more astonishing happened – the black tide continued expanding, and the Venerable Shenzang Statue was directly devoured by half by the black tide.
Then the black tide disappeared as if it had never appeared, and only half of the Venerable Shenzang Statue remained. The upper body had disappeared without trace along with the black tide, while the lower body continued drifting in the void.
“We’ve temporarily named this phenomenon the Black Tide. This is the thirty-sixth time we’ve observed this phenomenon.”
