Chapter 610: The Two Demon Lords

“Senior Brother, everyone is preparing to go to the Human Sovereign Hall for the Myriad Worlds Exploration Festival. Shouldn’t we head over soon? There’s only one day left until the festival begins.”

At the edge of the Great Wei Dynasty, deep within the towering mountains, ancient trees with gnarled roots created a lush canopy that blocked out the sunlight. Yin energy spread throughout the area, dropping the temperature significantly compared to outside the mountains.

Two Corpse Driving Sect disciples walked through this environment without any discomfort whatsoever.

Their sect’s environment was even more gloomy than this place.

“What’s there to worry about? It’s only half a day’s journey from here to the Human Sovereign Hall. We have plenty of time to explore this ancient tomb before heading to the festival.”

“But I haven’t heard about any ancient tomb around here? According to the feng shui techniques taught by our sect, this isn’t exactly suitable burial ground either.”

The senior brother wore a mysterious smile. “Not suitable for burial? That just means the person being buried wasn’t high-level enough. A mountain doesn’t need to be tall to become famous if it houses an immortal. If a great expert is buried here, then this place that was once unsuitable for burial becomes suitable by definition.”

The junior brother’s eyes widened, his lips trembling. “You’re saying a great expert is buried here?”

“Just the day before yesterday, I happened to pass by this area and vaguely sensed a hint of heavenly secrets. It might have been the lingering obsession of the tomb’s owner, unwilling to let his lifetime of knowledge and techniques remain buried in darkness, wanting to find a destined individual to carry on his legacy. I suspect a Tribulation Transcendence Stage expert is buried here!”

“After confirming the location, I thought my strength alone might be insufficient, which is why I brought you along.”

The junior brother shrunk his neck nervously. “But Senior Brother, a Tribulation Transcendence Stage tomb should be explored by elders at the very least. With our limited capabilities, we might lose our lives without even seeing the coffin.”

“Let’s just scout the area first. There’s a difference in sect contribution points between discovering a tomb versus discovering and partially exploring one.”

The two carefully entered the cave, using Night Vision Technique with spiritual energy gathered in their eyes, allowing them to see the tomb’s structure clearly in the darkness.

The walls on both sides were painted with immortal beast patterns, so lifelike they seemed ready to leap from the walls at any moment and roar across heaven and earth.

Terracotta soldiers stood in formation, holding weapons, fully prepared as if awaiting inspection by some ancient monarch.

Looking upward, an enormous evil ghost was imprinted on the cave ceiling, claws bared and fangs exposed, as if all the immortal beasts covering the walls were merely its prey.

The junior brother felt his scalp tingle under the evil ghost’s gaze, sensing that some great terror, some ominous disaster was about to befall him.

The senior brother, however, paid little attention. His eyes gleamed when he saw the weapons in the terracotta soldiers’ hands—this was their opportunity.

He knelt before one of the terracotta soldiers, murmuring incantations about the separation between yin and yang, saying that as juniors they had come seeking some opportunities, asking for the tomb master’s permission.

“Huh? This weapon is gripped so tightly, I can’t pull it free.”

The senior brother tried several times without success, concluding that the tomb master probably didn’t want them taking anything, so he reluctantly gave up.

Suddenly, one of the terracotta soldiers shifted slightly, startling the senior brother who immediately assumed a defensive stance.

The junior brother also prepared to flee at any moment.

“Never thought I’d encounter living people here too.”

The terracotta soldier’s voice sounded surprisingly young, like someone in their twenties. The soldier stepped out from the formation, revealing features that matched the voice—indeed appearing to be around twenty years old.

“Don’t be nervous. I’m Mo Li, just like you, here to explore the tomb.” Mo Li chuckled lightly, displaying the boldness of someone confident in their skills, daring to explore this tomb alone.

“Judging by your attire, you should be Corpse Driving Sect disciples. What a coincidence, I have some connections with your sect too.”

The junior brother tentatively asked, “Are you also one of our Corpse Driving Sect’s clients?”

The Corpse Driving Sect had an external business where living people could pre-arrange for their corpses. Living individuals could borrow spirit stones from the sect—if they could repay, both parties went their separate ways; if not, their corpses would be left to the sect after death.

“Our relationship runs deeper than you might think.”

Seeing that Mo Li didn’t wish to elaborate further, the senior brother changed the subject: “Brother Mo Li, do you have any understanding of this tomb?”

“I’d say I’m quite familiar with it.”

“I also came across records in ancient text fragments by chance. Legend says a great demon is buried here, with demonic arts that overshadowed the world and demonic power that surged to the heavens. He cultivated the ‘Demonic Transformation Through Ages Technique’ to its peak—merely walking casually upon the earth could transform Buddhist pure lands into demonic territories!”

“So terrifying?!” The two brothers’ teeth chattered, understanding from this description that this demon was at least immortal-level.

Mo Li nodded vigorously: “That’s not even the half of it. That demon was terrifying beyond description.”

“To truly speak of this tomb’s origins, we must go back to that demonic path civil war twenty thousand years ago.”

“Twenty thousand years ago, the Immortal Realm had two demonic path prodigies, one male and one female. The male demon was a natural-born demon seed, with thinking different from ordinary people—arrogant and untamed, possessing unyielding pride, often performing shocking deeds.”

“The female demon was heartless and emotionless, wielding the Heaven-Devouring Immortal Gourd, commanding tribulation punishment, with combat power unmatched among her peers.”

“The two battled from the Immortal Realm all the way to the Nine Provinces, shattering the void, creating such tremendous momentum that witnesses fled in panic. Ultimately, the female demon proved slightly superior, subduing the male demon and sealing him here.”

“But even after being sealed, the male demon continued to resist. Look at this evil ghost imprint on the ceiling—that’s the male demon’s doing.”

“If the evil ghost imprints covered the entire cave, the male demon would break free from his seal. But unfortunately, the male demon never succeeded in breaking the seal completely.”

“Now look at these murals on the walls—this is the female demon’s work. The female demon mastered the Dao of Painting, possessing the ability to bring paintings to life with a single touch. If someone rashly enters here and triggers the mechanisms, these immortal beasts will leap from the walls and tear the intruders to shreds!”

The brothers shuddered, grateful they hadn’t activated any traps.

“Using blood and flesh as seals—such terrifying methods.”

“Wait, then if we explore recklessly, wouldn’t we risk helping the demon break the seal and bring disaster to the Nine Provinces?” The senior brother wanted to leave with his junior.

Mo Li showed no concern about this possibility: “Don’t worry, the seal is secure—how could us three mere Core Formation Stage cultivators possibly break it? Besides, the male demon once tried to tempt cultivators into helping him break the seal, so he buried many heavenly treasures throughout the tomb. As long as we maintain our Dao Hearts, remain uncorrupted by the male demon’s temptations, take the treasures and leave immediately, nothing will happen.”

Seeing Mo Li’s sincere explanation, the brothers became somewhat convinced and decided to follow Mo Li in exploring the demon’s ancient tomb.

“Brother Mo Li, may I ask what the male and female demons’ names were?”

Mo Li shook his head: “Those two demons’ names are forbidden, not to be spoken aloud. However, I can tell you their honorific titles.”

“Please enlighten us, Brother Mo Li.”

“These two demons are famous rivals, opposite in everything from gender to their honorific titles.”

“The female demon is called the Great Black Heaven King.”

“And the male demon…”

“Is called the Great White Heaven King.”

The brothers’ expressions turned peculiar. The female demon’s title sounded domineering, but the male demon’s… sounded like daybreak had arrived?

The cave shook slightly, as if the male demon had awakened and expressed dissatisfaction with this honorific title.
