Chapter 1836: 1833: The Village

Chapter 1836: Chapter 1833: The Village

After slaying the Wind Wolf King, Li Chen took a short rest in the forest before heading out with Little White.

As he stepped out of the mountain, he saw a group of people cautiously peering in, armed with various weapons.

Seeing this scene, Li Chen felt a great sense of surprise, wondering what exactly these people were up to.

Being new to the place, he didn’t dare to speak or ask any questions.

Seeing Li Chen emerge from the Wind Wolf Mountain, the people outside were even more shocked.

“Today is the day the Wolf King patrols the mountain. How did you come out of Wind Wolf Mountain?”

Hearing about the Wolf King’s patrol, Li Chen was taken aback, musing to himself:

Wolf King patrols the mountain, what nonsense is this?

Someone else asked, “You didn’t encounter the wind wolf pack, did you?”

Before Li Chen could respond, another person answered instead.

“He must not have encountered them, otherwise, how could he have come out alive?”

Upon hearing this, the others nodded in agreement and started discussing it in groups.

Li Chen listened intently and found that their discussions were mostly about the Wolf King’s patrol and how lucky he was.

Lucky to be alive?

Thinking of this, Li Chen couldn’t help but chuckle silently.

Maybe, he was indeed lucky.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have survived so many unbelievable events and still be intact.

“What are you laughing at?”

A proud young man saw Li Chen’s sudden laughter and sternly questioned him.

Li Chen shook his head and said, “Nothing!”

“By the way, you don’t have to be so cautious. The Wind Wolf King is dead, and the remaining wind wolves have scattered and fled. It will be difficult for them to regroup in the short term!”

After saying this, Li Chen turned to leave.

Everyone was stunned by his words.

The young man who had mocked Li Chen earlier sneered coldly.

“Haha, you haven’t even seen the Wind Wolf King, how could you know it’s dead?”

Li Chen casually retorted, “Who said I haven’t seen it?”

The young man was taken aback by Li Chen’s retort.

After a long pause, he asked again.

“You’ve seen the Wind Wolf King?”

Li Chen nodded, answering, “Yes, and I casually slaughtered it!”

Upon hearing Li Chen’s words, there was an uproar among the crowd.

Clearly, they didn’t believe what Li Chen said.

Li Chen didn’t bother to explain their skepticism.

He shrugged and said nonchalantly, “The Wind Wolf King’s corpse is still lying in the forest. If you don’t believe me, you can go check for yourselves!”

After saying this, Li Chen paid them no more attention and turned to leave.

These people, half-believing, exchanged glances and then cautiously proceeded into the forest in groups.

As they entered the forest, they smelled a very pungent smell of blood.

They exchanged looks, then continued deeper inside.

Suddenly!

Someone let out a cry of surprise.

“Look, there’s a wind wolf’s corpse here!”

Soon, a second person cried out in alarm.

“There’s one here too!”

“And here!”

“My goodness, there must be a hundred wind wolf corpses here, no?”

“Look over there, what’s that?”

Someone spotted the shattered corpse of the Wind Wolf King at the bottom of a cliff, with a look of disbelief.

The others were the same.

After being silent for a full half-minute, they remembered what Li Chen had just said.

“That guy wasn’t lying; he really killed the Wind Wolf King?”

The young man who had attacked Li Chen earlier now had a very complicated expression.

He was both shocked by the incredible sight and ashamed of having insulted Li Chen earlier.

When they emerged from the forest again, Li Chen hadn’t gone far.

The leading middle-aged man was very excited to run over.

“Brother, I didn’t expect you really killed the Wind Wolf King. I feel very ashamed for not believing you earlier!”

Li Chen waved his hand with a calm smile.

Suddenly, he seemed to think of something and asked, “By the way, where is this place? Is it far from the Northern Territory?”

Hearing Li Chen’s question, the middle-aged man was clearly taken aback.

“This is the Northern Territory!”

Li Chen was stunned, looking around in confusion.

He remembered Beiming Xue describing the Northern Territory as a vast ocean, but all around here were mountains and land, with no sign of the sea?

After talking with the middle-aged man, Li Chen learned that the Northern Territory was vast.

Furthermore, by order of rank, it was divided into Nine Layers Heaven.

This was the First Layer Heaven!

According to the middle-aged man’s tone, even the First Layer Heaven alone was as large as hundreds of Earths.

Even so, this was only the domain known to him as the Manor Master.

Additionally, Li Chen learned that this middle-aged man’s name was Zhao Yuan and he was the Manor Master of Zhao Village, located ninety miles ahead.

The young man who had confronted him earlier was Zhao Zhigao, his son.

They were all hunters from Zhao Village, out for hunting.

Later, Li Chen was invited as a guest at Zhao Village due to Zhao Yuan’s enthusiastic invitation.

Though Zhao Village was called a village, its area was comparable to that of an ordinary township in Huaxia on Earth.

The area under its jurisdiction covered more than a hundred square kilometers, with a population of over twenty thousand.

When Li Chen and the others arrived at the village gate, they found several thousand people had gathered there, mostly women and the elderly, standing on tiptoes, waiting expectantly.

They all looked worried.

The children, oblivious to the worries, were playing games in the open space at the village gate, carefree and happy.

When the women and elders saw the hunters returning with a full load, they were very excited.

The children, seeing this, also stopped their games and came running.

“Manor Master, Zhigao, you guys hunted so many wind wolves!”

“This, this, this big wind wolf, isn’t it the Wind Wolf King?”

“You did such an incredible job this time, even managing to kill the Wind Wolf King!”

…

Hearing the elders and women’s praises, the hundred or so hunters of Zhao Village all had complex expressions.

None of them spoke, and they all turned their gaze to the Manor Master Zhao Yuan.

Zhao Yuan hurriedly pushed Li Chen forward and said, “Fellow villagers, you’ve misunderstood. These are not our kills; they are the work of this young brother here!”

Upon hearing Zhao Yuan’s words, everyone was stunned.

They had been so focused on the haul that they’d overlooked Li Chen’s presence.

After a moment of silence, an elderly woman voiced her skepticism.

“Zhao Yuan, I must have heard wrong. Did you say these weren’t hunted by you, but by this young man?”

“Did he do it all by himself?”

“How could he possibly hunt so many, even killing the Wind Wolf King on his own?”
