Chapter 1569: Mo You's Betrayal

The next day.

Just as dawn broke, Song Wen received another message from Mo You.

[Senior, where are you? Leave the city immediately and head south. I am also rushing south.]

[What happened?]

As Song Wen sent his reply, he left the secret chamber of the teahouse where he had been staying.

[Lady Yugu has already left the sect,] Mo You replied.

Having just exited the city, Song Wen noticed Mo You speeding through the morning light several hundred li ahead to his left.

However, Mo You had clearly not spotted Song Wen.

In fact, he had only seen Song Wen once before. At that time, Song Wen had been wearing a cloak and mask, completely concealing his appearance and aura.

In other words, he didn’t even recognize Song Wen.

[Senior, have you left the city?]

[I have. I’m not far from you.]

Mo You scanned his surroundings.

At this moment, there were no shortage of cultivators entering and leaving the city, and the sky was filled with escape lights. He couldn’t tell which of these lights belonged to Song Wen.

He also couldn’t detect anyone secretly using a Communication Jade Slip to send messages, so he gave up searching and continued to travel head-down.

[Do you know where Lady Yugu is going?] Song Wen asked.

[Junior doesn’t know,] Mo You replied.

[Then how can you track her?] Song Wen pressed.

[Senior, rest assured. Junior has made preparations,] Mo You said.

Song Wen asked no more and followed slowly behind Mo You, keeping a distance of over a thousand li.

Soon, the two had fled tens of thousands of miles.

The surrounding area was no longer filled with escape lights like a starry sky. Mo You, of course, had long noticed Song Wen behind him.

“Senior, is that you?” Mo You stopped his escape light and looked back at Song Wen.

Song Wen, now dressed as a middle-aged cultivator, replied softly, “It is I.”

Earlier, outside Blood Brilliance City, they had to avoid suspicion and naturally couldn’t travel together. Now that they were far from the city, there was no need to pretend to be strangers.

“Little friend, what kind of method do you have that allows you to track Lady Yugu?”

Though Song Wen asked casually, the question concealed a deeper purpose. He didn’t trust Mo You much; instead, he harbored deep wariness.

For Mo You to obtain the Heavenly Astral Body Integration Pill from him, there were two ways: either by following their agreed-upon plan, or by killing him and stealing the treasure.

Although the latter was unlikely given Mo You’s current strength, it wasn’t impossible. If Mo You could persuade Song Wen to cooperate, he could just as easily persuade other Body Integration Stage cultivators to turn against him.

Perhaps, somewhere ahead, Mo You’s accomplices had already set a celestial net to trap him.

If Mo You could provide a reasonable explanation for his question, it would dispel some of Song Wen’s doubts. If he couldn’t, it would prove that Mo You was indeed up to something.

“Senior, please look.”

As Mo You spoke, a transparent jade bottle appeared before him.

Inside the bottle, a wisp of green smoke flickered like a flame, darting relentlessly toward the southwest.

Song Wen instantly recognized it as the green smoke formed by the Ten Thousand Miles Breath Tracking Technique.

Yet, even so, his suspicions about Mo You remained.

The scene before him only proved that Mo You knew the Ten Thousand Miles Breath Tracking Technique; it did not prove that the green smoke in the jade bottle had been formed from Lady Yugu’s aura.

“Lady Yugu’s vigilance is quite high; she actually changed her direction,” Mo You said, gazing southwest, unaware of Song Wen’s thoughts.

“Little friend, how did you obtain an object tainted with Lady Yugu’s aura?” Song Wen continued to probe.

Mo You seemed to instantly understand Song Wen’s concerns. He turned to glance at him, a gentle smile spreading across his face.

“It seems Senior is also familiar with the Ten Thousand Miles Breath Tracking Technique, so there’s no need for me to explain further. As for the object tainted with Lady Yugu’s aura…”

At that point, he suddenly produced an undergarment.

“To be honest, I am one of her favorite consorts.”

Song Wen examined the undergarment. It indeed bore a faint aura left by a Body Integration Stage cultivator, acquired through prolonged wear.

The suspicion in Song Wen’s heart immediately lessened.

At the same time, his understanding of Mo You deepened slightly.

This is a man who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

In that regard, he was cut from the same cloth as Song Wen.

“Senior, although Lady Yugu deliberately took a detour, she is still a peak body integration stage cultivator. Her escape light is as fast as lightning. We shouldn’t linger—it’s best to set out immediately,” Mo You suddenly said.

Song Wen nodded slightly, then swept out a wave of spiritual power to envelop Mo You. With that, he shot off toward the south-southwest.

The two of them quickly traveled millions of miles before finally arriving above a mountain valley.

This place was remote, with sparse Spiritual Qi and completely uninhabited.

“Lady Yugu is quite cautious to have chosen such a secluded spot,” Mo You remarked, scanning the valley below.

Meanwhile, Song Wen formed the Thunder Incantation with his hands and began to unleash the Haotian Divine Thunder.

In an instant, dark clouds billowed and churned in the sky above the valley.

An aura of world-destroying power immediately enveloped the entire area.

The surroundings darkened as if night were about to fall.

In the dim light, a completely transparent, colorless light screen appeared beneath the two of them, sealing the entire valley within.

Suddenly—

A figure flashed, and a slender woman appeared beneath the light curtain, gazing up at the two figures above.

“Mo You, why are you here? And who is he?”

Song Wen instantly recognized the woman as Lady Yugu.

Her features were delicate, yet her face was frosted with cold fury. She was clearly both shocked and enraged by their arrival.

“Yugu, hand over the Taiyin Netherfire,” Mo You demanded.

“Mo You, how dare you address me with such insolence!” Lady Yugu snarled. “I have always treated you well. And yet you conspire with an outsider to plot against me!”

“Treated me well?” Mo You sneered. “Yugu, I was nothing more than a dog you could kick and curse at will! When have you ever shown me an ounce of respect?”

“Enough,” Song Wen interrupted. “Your personal vendettas are of no concern to me, nor do I wish to understand them. I am here only for the Taiyin Netherfire. Yugu, surrender it, and I may spare your life.”

“Hmph!”

Lady Yugu let out a cold snort.

“You are a stranger to me. A rogue cultivator, I presume? How dare you speak so arrogantly in my presence? And more importantly, how do you two know I possess the Taiyin Netherfire?”

Mo You said, “Yugu, I have served you for many years. How could I not know that you have long coveted the Taiyin Netherfire? You have been preparing for years to steal the Taiyin Netherfire in secret. Now that Huo Ming has fallen, Huo Wuqi is too preoccupied to manage the Yinghuo Hall’s affairs. How could you possibly miss such a golden opportunity?”

After speaking, he turned to look at Song Wen.

“Senior Xing Chang, she has already admitted to possessing the Taiyin Netherfire. I ask that you now strike down this villain as we agreed.”

“She and I are both at the peak of the Body Integration stage,” Song Wen asked with interest. “Are you so certain I can kill her?”

“Senior, you must be joking. You were able to escape unscathed from Elder Yu Bi, so your strength must be unfathomable. Killing Yugu would surely be no difficult task for you.”

A faint smile touched the corners of Song Wen’s lips.

Mo You had indeed guessed correctly: ‘Xing Chang’ was ‘Gu Huang’.

Below, within the formation barrier, Lady Yugu’s expression changed instantly upon hearing these words. Her gaze turned heavy as she stared at Song Wen.

“You’re Gu Huang?”
