Chapter 160: Decree on Observing the Golden Core

For the next month, Lu Yang remained in the Saint Sect.

As time passed, he simply stayed at Heaven-Mending Peak, living a life full of sentiment.

Lu Yang’s body was like steel, and his Dao heart like iron. Most of the time, he was still studying the Daoist book in his hand.

“Decree on Observing the Golden Core… What a Decree on Observing the Golden Core!”

The Perfected Lord who wrote this Daoist book, titled [Perfected Lord Sky Shrouding], refined the Golden Core and attained the [Great Forest Wood]. Yet he was the most embarrassing Perfected Lord in the history of the Saint Sect.

Because he was a good person.

This was not empty talk. At least during his reign, he never did anything vicious. He even had personal friendships with the Sword Pavilion, the Dao Court, and the Pure Land, with connections all over the world.

“Although inconceivable, it’s not incomprehensible… After all, which Perfected Lord would be so idle as to write something like the Decree on Observing the Golden Core to teach people how to seek the Gold? Is he worried no one will compete with him for the Dao Fruit after his reincarnation? Being able to do such a thing, it’s not strange that he’s a good person.”

At least if it were Lu Yang, he would absolutely not do this.

Daoist Hong Yun was a precedent. A dignified Perfected Lord, yet after reincarnation, he was firmly suppressed by Perfected One Chong Guang, a junior. It was simply stifling to the extreme.

Shaking his head, Lu Yang cast aside distracting thoughts and refocused his mind.

Over the month, this Decree on Observing the Golden Core helped him enormously, almost pointing out the specific method for him to ascend to the Foundation Establishment position and seek the Gold.

“A ten-thousand-zhang tall building rises from the ground.”

“To ascend to the position and seek the Golden core, the foundation must be firmly laid in the Initial Stage of Foundation Establishment. Otherwise, once a mistake is made, there will be no chance for regret by the Middle Stage of Foundation Establishment.”

From the perspective of a Perfected Lord, the Decree on Observing the Golden Core described his views on the Dao Fruits of heaven and earth, as well as the Ten Heavenly Stem and Twelve Earthly Branch corresponding to the Dao Fruits. He even annotated their respective attributes, dividing them into the Five Elements, making their respective imagery clearer and more distinct.

“What I seek in this life is [City Rampart Earth].”

What is [City Rampart Earth]?

“Heavenly Spirit positions take [Zhu Yong] and [Tu Wei]. Earthly Fiend positions take [She Ti Ge] and [Chan Yan]. Four medicines return to one, completing the Great Dao; only then can one seek [City Rampart Earth].”

This was something everyone knew, but it was extremely obscure and difficult to understand.

In the Decree on Observing the Golden Core, the description of this sentence was simpler and clearer:

“In the Heavenly Stem position, [Zhu Yong] belongs to Yang Earth, [Tu Wei] belongs to Yin Earth. In the Earthly Branch position, [She Ti Ge] belongs to Yang Wood, [Chan Yan] belongs to Yin Wood.”

“The intersection of Yin and Yang Earth and Wood is [City Rampart Earth].”

Holding the Daoist book, Lu Yang already had an idea about the first Heavenly Spirit or Earthly Fiend he needed: “I need a Heavenly Spirit Qi adhering to [Zhu Yong].”

[Zhu Yong] belongs to Earth, sits in the Yang position, also known as “Wu” (戊).

This Heavenly Stem is known as fog in heaven and mountain on earth. Before the Primordial Chaos was judged, it embraced the One and guarded the Center. After heaven and earth were divided, it carried all things and being the orthodoxy of the Earth Dao.

It sounds simple, but in reality, there are other profundities.

Because the Ten Heavenly Stem and Twelve Earthly Branch have always been indistinguishable from each other. Even the same Wu Earth Qi would undergo different changes when intersecting with the Twelve Earthly Branch.

“For me, the chosen Wu Earth Qi better intersect with [She Ti Ge] or [Chan Yan]. Only in this way will it not deviate from the imagery of [City Rampart Earth].”

“However, there are also unknown taboos within.”

“Wu Earth Qi intersecting with [She Ti Ge], the resulting Innate Divine Ability is named [Embracing Guard Mountain].”

“The Decree on Observing the Golden Core calls it Supreme Yang Earth Wood, having the ability to balance one Qi and stabilize the universe.”

“But Wu Earth Qi intersecting with [Chan Yan], the Decree on Observing the Golden Core calls it seeking one’s own death. Yin Wood overcomes Yang Earth; if refined, one can just wait for a violent death…”

In other words, not all Heavenly Spirits and Earthly Fiends can be refined. Some are just courting death if refined.

“…F***, all are pits.”

Closing the Pill Scripture, Lu Yang couldn’t help but curse. This was only because a Perfected Lord wrote articles to give guidance, having a set of methods and theories. Otherwise, who would think so much?

If it were a rogue cultivator, finding a Heavenly Spirit or Earthly Fiend would already be a heavenly fortune. They would definitely grab it and refine it instantly.

Who would care about taboos?

“No wonder only the Late Stage of Foundation Establishment can be called Grand Perfected One. Presumably, those who can cultivate to the Late Stage of Foundation Establishment either hit the jackpot of heavenly luck or have a superior Dao lineage.”

The former relied on mechanics, the latter had numerical values.

“…Forget it.”

Empty thoughts are not as good as practical work. Lu Yang sighed, pushed away Madam Ruoxiang beside him, changed his clothes, and walked out of the seclusion quiet room.

Thirty days passed; everything was ready.

Now that Arhat Fu Long was executed and the Heaven-Mending Peak Master died violently, he could be considered to be sitting back and relaxing. He could follow the guidance of qi luck with peace of mind to find his opportunity.

However, just then, Lu Yang suddenly raised his eyebrows.

Immediately afterward, he looked overhead and smiled slightly: “Which Fellow Daoist is it? Visiting late at night, rather than acting sneakingly, better to show yourself for a meeting.”

As his voice fell, the evening breeze blew.

Seeing Lu Yang’s expression calm and his gaze locking onto him straightly, the newcomer confirmed that Lu Yang really discovered him, not just bluffing.

“Hahaha, worthy of being Yuan Tu!”

In the next second, laughter came. At the same time, a formation fell out of thin air, directly covering Lu Yang and the newcomer in the formation, isolating interference from the outside world.

The whole set of operations could be called smooth and flowing.

Lu Yang narrowed his eyes instantly upon seeing this. Isolating information transmission without saying a word—clearly an old hand, very likely not the first time doing this.

Then a figure floated out.

The newcomer wore a black Daoist robe. His appearance was quite handsome, his demeanor calm, and his face wore a kind smile: “This humble one is Wu Cang, greetings to Fellow Daoist Yuan Tu.”

“So it is Fellow Daoist Wu Cang…”

Lu Yang cupped his hands, but the opponent’s information flashed quickly through his mind.

This person could be considered bringing his skills to join the sect. Originally a rogue cultivator at Foundation Establishment, after reincarnation, he joined the Saint Sect and broke through to the Middle Stage, thus washing himself clean to become a Saint Sect Perfected One.

“I wonder for what matter Fellow Daoist Wu Cang seeks me?”

As Lu Yang’s voice fell, Wu Cang revealed a smile: “To be honest, this humble one heard that Fellow Daoist took a Perfected Lord’s manuscript from Sacred Fire Cliff?”

“…Indeed there is such a matter.”

Lu Yang understood the other party’s intention and immediately laughed: “Does Fellow Daoist perhaps want to borrow the manuscript for a read? This is no problem. What does Fellow Daoist want to exchange for it?”

“This is the problem.”

Wu Cang’s smile remained unchanged: “This humble one has been short of money recently and really cannot give any benefits. But this humble one wants to borrow the manuscript… is Fellow Daoist willing to give credit?”

As soon as these words came out, Lu Yang’s smile faded quickly.

Both are Saint Sect Perfected Ones; who are you pretending with? Credit? Deadbeat!

Thinking of this, Lu Yang’s gaze became even calmer instead, a hint of coldness revealing in his voice: “It seems Fellow Daoist doesn’t intend to trade with me properly?”

Wu Cang sneered instantly upon hearing this.

Of course he knew Yuan Tu wasn’t easy to deal with, but that was limited to karmic calculations. Now he came to the door suddenly, simply not giving Lu Yang time to calculate.

What can you do to me?

“If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for being insatiably greedy. Just at the Initial Stage of Foundation Establishment, you entered Heaven-Mending Peak and even dared to borrow the Perfected Lord’s manuscript. Today I will teach you a lesson.”

After speaking, Wu Cang took a step forward immediately.

“Those who understand the times are outstanding heroes. Hand over the manuscript, and I will leave right now.”

In an instant, the aura of the Middle Stage of Foundation Establishment crashed down on Lu Yang like Mount Tai pressing on the top: “Or do you want to suffer a bit first before handing over the manuscript?”

Wu Cang originally thought Lu Yang would choose to compromise.

However, unexpectedly, seeing him reveal his aura, Lu Yang smiled: “If my expectation is not wrong, Fellow Daoist should have only refined one Innate Divine Ability, right?”

After speaking, he sized up Wu Cang seriously.

Such a fervent, covetous look made Wu Cang frown subconsciously: “What do you mean?”

“Meaning Fellow Daoist’s cultivation is not bad.”

Lu Yang let his hand hang down, the [Avici Sword] in his grip.

“How precious is the Perfected Lord’s manuscript? Since Fellow Daoist wants it, then use this whole body of cultivation to exchange for it!”
