Chapter 409: Suo Huan: Willing to Die for Senior!

Boom!

The Astral Clouds scattered in all directions. The majestic dragon body had been mostly refined, leaving only a dragon head as large as a mountain peak plummeting from the sky, smashing heavily onto the sea surface.

Half of the flesh and blood on this dragon head had been burned to fly ash by the Fire Baleful Qi, and the exposed bones carried traces of charring. To be reduced to such a state showed that the divine marrow within this dragon body, which should have been imperishable through ten thousand tribulations, had long been eaten clean. Only then did its divine wonder scatter, no longer possessing the transcendence a True Dragon should have.

And above the dragon head.

A handsome young man in flapping daoist robes stood with his hands behind his back. The divine ability round light behind him hung high like a bright moon, making him look increasingly solemn as a precious image, difficult to fathom.

Tian Qiu is dead…

For a time, countless Foundation Establishment Perfected Ones who witnessed this scene held their breath. Even those at Foundation Establishment Perfection frowned one after another at this moment.

What an insidious divine ability.

At that last instant, Tian Qiu’s fortune clearly fluctuated… This person is also proficient in karma, finally cutting off Tian Qiu’s vitality with a karmic technique.

Could it really be a Perfected One from my Saint Sect?

Jiangbei, amidst the myriad seas of clouds, Hong Ju frowned tightly. recalling the process of Tian Qiu’s death he just saw, doubts gradually surfaced in his heart.

Meanwhile, Suo Huan below had not yet come back to his senses.

Tian Qiu was dead. A True Dragon Blood Descendant, the second son of the Dragon Lord, the undisputed number one cultivator below the Perfected Lords in the overseas region—he actually died here!

Clearly, as an overseas demon cultivator, Tian Qiu’s strength was inferior to those inland Foundation Establishment Perfection experts, but it was only slightly inferior; the gap wasn’t very big. Not to mention his identity—as the existence upon whom the True Dragon clan placed high hopes and intended to push to the throne, who dared to provoke him normally?

But now, he was dead!

It must be known that the Dragon Lord wasn’t dead, just temporarily in seclusion… Imagine when he returns and learns the cause and effect; guess if the Dragon Lord will go mad?

Just thinking about it made Suo Huan feel dizzy.

No, I have to run quickly!

This place is not suitable to stay long! Although we are both outer heavens cultivators, I have nothing to do with that person in the sky. I absolutely cannot let others misunderstand!

With this thought, Suo Huan immediately prepared to leave quietly.

He originally thought that since the person in the sky was at Foundation Establishment Perfection, he must be high and mighty. If he left in a low profile, he expected he wouldn’t attract the other party’s attention.

Who would have thought that the next second…

“Fellow Daoist, why are you in such a hurry to leave?”

A single call caused the escaping light Suo Huan had just raised to stiffen instantly on the spot. The next second, he turned around, revealing a humble and ingratiating smile:

“Lowly cultivator Suo Huan pays respects to Senior!”

Seeing this, Lu Yang hurriedly reached out to support Suo Huan, then smiled and patted Suo Huan’s shoulder: “Fellow Daoist, no need to be polite. You and I feel like old friends at first sight!”

Once these words came out, Suo Huan instantly lamented in his heart: It’s over!

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, the other party was also an outer heavens cultivator like himself. Now it was truly yellow mud falling into the crotch—even if it wasn’t shit, it was shit.

Thinking of this, Suo Huan could only cup his hands helplessly: “I wonder what instructions Senior has?”

Lu Yang grinned upon hearing this: “I see that Fellow Daoist’s aura is quite different from that demon just now, but similar to mine. Could it be you are also from the outer heavens?”

Suo Huan laughed dryly: “Senior’s eye is accurate.”

“Not bad, not bad.”

Lu Yang narrowed his eyes and sized up Suo Huan for a moment, then laughed: “This world is not very friendly to outsiders like us. Fellow Daoist must be careful.”

“Many thanks for senior’s concern.”

Suo Huan glanced at Lu Yang, seemingly thinking of his own spirited past. He sighed secretly in his heart and whispered: “The True Dragon Senior killed… has an extremely high background. He also has an elder who is a Perfected Lord of this world… Does Senior know what a Perfected Lord is? That is a great cultivator who holds charge of a Dao Fruit…”

“Oh? Is this true?”

Lu Yang cooperated very well by revealing a look of curiosity: “Dao Fruit… could it be a figure like a Supreme One? I didn’t expect this world to have such great beings.”

“So Senior had better not stay long.”

Suo Huan shook his head and briefly explained the causes and consequences of the world’s Perfected Lords going into seclusion, then said: “Leaving now, senior still has a slim chance of survival.”

“So that’s how it is.”

Lu Yang looked solemn upon hearing this, but soon said confidently again: “That said, if you and I join hands, even if the whole world is our enemy, we may not lack the power to fight!”

Suo Huan blinked blankly upon hearing this.

No, I’m not close to you, right? What does you being the enemy of the whole world have to do with me?

But the next second, Suo Huan reacted abruptly: Damn it, this guy wants to drag me into the water? are the f**king outer heavens people specialize in screwing over outer heavens people?

Bastard!

With this thought, Suo Huan’s expression changed slightly. He subconsciously wanted to distance himself from Lu Yang, but Lu Yang grabbed his hand before he could:

“Fellow Daoist, looking at your current appearance, you obviously aren’t doing too well in this place… Now that so many people have seen me talking with you, I can certainly just walk away, but fellow daoist, do you think when that Dragon Lord returns in the future and can’t find me, will he take his anger out on you?”

“This…”

Once these words came out, Suo Huan’s movements stagnated instantly. He had to face reality… That’s right, he didn’t need to be dragged into the water; he was already in the water!

What this person says is correct.

Tian Qiu left the Dragon Palace because of me. The Dragon Lord will inevitably take his anger out on me afterward… from the moment Tian Qiu died, I had no way to live!

Thinking of this, Suo Huan’s expression became increasingly ugly.

The next second, he looked at Lu Yang again and said in a deep voice: “Senior, what exactly do you want to do? Or is it that… you also have a Perfected Lord backing you?”

“That I don’t have.” Lu Yang shook his head.

Suo Huan instantly gritted his teeth: “Without a Perfected Lord backing you… once the Dragon Lord returns, how will senior contend with the Dragon Lord?”

“Very simple. Wouldn’t it be fine if I become a Perfected Lord?”

Lu Yang smiled slightly: “Fellow Daoist Suo Huan, you and I feel like old friends at first sight. If you come to help me, in the future, there might be an opportunity to defy heaven and attain the dao.”

He was painting a big pie.

Suo Huan knew clearly in his heart that Lu Yang was just making empty promises to him. However, what left him helpless was that… even for making empty promises, only Lu Yang alone was doing it for him.

What choice did he have?

Suo Huan was not a pedantic person. Previously, he was always hesitating, always living in fear. Now that things had reached this step, he instead recovered his decisiveness of the past.

The next second, Suo Huan said in a deep voice: “In reply to senior, this subordinate knows a secret path that leads directly to the Dragon Palace. Now that Tian Qiu has died unexpectedly, the Dragon Palace is in chaos. Many demon cultivators are probably coveting the Dragon Palace’s treasury. If we sneak in amidst the chaos, we can definitely take the opportunity to loot it thoroughly!”

Since death was certain either way, might as well gamble!

Robbing the Dragon Palace would at least yield some benefits, better than having nothing. Since things were already this absolute, he might as well be even more absolute!

Lu Yang laughed loudly upon hearing this: “I knew I didn’t misjudge fellow daoist!”

Then he took out the Myriad Spirits Banner—

“Come, Fellow Daoist. As long as you enter my [Investiture of the Gods], you will be one of us from now on. I guarantee you will immediately have the cultivation of Foundation Establishment Perfection!”

Suo Huan looked at the Myriad Spirits Banner with some hesitation upon hearing this.

“Senior, why does your [Investiture of the Gods] look a bit wrong in color?”

It was still emitting black smoke.

Lu Yang didn’t answer. Instead, he directly summoned Patriarch Nether Whisper, then, right in front of Suo Huan, used the incense offering divine dao to elevate him to Foundation Establishment Perfection.

Suo Huan: “…”

“I am willing to die for you, senior!”

Translation notes:

Investiture of the Gods (Fēngshén Bǎng).

This is a reference to the famous Chinese classic novel Fengshen Yanyi (The Investiture of the Gods), where figures are appointed as gods. Lu Yang is using it as a metaphor for his Myriad Spirits Banner, as he is “appointing” Suo Huan and others as Incense Offering Deities within it.
