Chapter 138: The Descent
Splash!
The bottom half of his body, wet with blood, quickly regenerated. Alexius stood up, watching the ocean of frost gradually collapse. He walked to the melting frost beast and retrieved his severed arm and shadow weapon.
The severed arm and the shoulder wound squirmed with countless fine shadow threads. The arm was swiftly reattached to his body.
Alexius brandished the shadow weapon with his healed arm, looking at the horrifying, gigantic mountain of flesh and Moore, who was held high in the air by the Monster, desperately fighting back. A cold glint flashed in Alexius’s eyes.
Mid-air, Moore was still fighting desperately. He fiercely brandished his quasi-Treasure artifact, the Frost Blessing. Due to the collapse of the ocean of frost, his Mana was greatly depleted, and he was exhausted.
“I can only use this move!” His eyes flashed with determination. He swung the Frost Blessing and shouted loudly: “Even suspended in mid-air, I, Moore, remain undefeated! The frost will purify all evil!”
He then began to spin rapidly. His entire body suddenly shot upward. In mid-air, he erupted in a terrifying, white, dazzling light.
Boom!
The rapidly spinning Moore, radiating white, dazzling light, suddenly compressed into a single point, then fell like a star. The entire Northern March Fortress echoed with his roar.
“Frost Starfall! Extreme Cold Storm! Purify all evil!”
Boom!
The falling ice crystal star struck the mountain of flesh, erupting in an impossibly bright, white light!
Alexius closed his eyes, feeling the intensely cold wind on his skin. His mood grew increasingly jubilant.
“Excellent! Moore, plus that pile of disgusting flesh mountain—that is just perfect, absolutely perfect!”
He laughed wildly. The pitch-black shadow behind him suddenly expanded. The strange ritual he had laid throughout the fortress began to respond. Ominous energy pervaded the air.
Starting from the fortress, stretching far away to the massacred villages of the Northern March, patterns of the bizarre ritual began to surface. If one looked down from the sky, they would see black, mottled patterns appearing on the snow-covered Northern land.
In the center of the fortress, after the starfall, the entire mountain of flesh was frozen, looking like a gigantic ice sculpture. Moore stood atop the frozen mountain of flesh, breathing weakly. Sealing such a massive evil was simply beyond his limit.
“Fortunately, the sun has risen. The power of the shadows is greatly weakened. Although the losses are immense, we have won in the end!” Moore closed his eyes, feeling the sunlight gently touch his skin. Unseen by him, the shadows were wildly devouring the Northern land.
“Clap, clap, clap!”
Alexius walked closer to the frozen mountain of flesh, saying with a sneer: “I must admit, Great Hero Moore Rona, holder of The Frost Blessing!”
“You nearly mastered the use of The Frost Blessing. Even a Golden Hero at the peak of the Great Hero rank would likely not surpass you. You were so close to single-handedly turning the tide of the entire battle.”
“I, Alexius, the First Disciple of the Great Lord of Darkness, Dorkabach, declare you the strongest Great Hero.” Alexius spread his arms wide, raising the shadow blade in his hand, chanting like a poet.
“Still grandstanding when death is upon you?” Moore opened his eyes. Having recovered a little strength, he leaped up, ready to end Alexius.
Just then, the frozen mountain of flesh suddenly shook violently. An even more ominous aura erupted from it.
“How is that possible? Frost Starfall is The Frost Blessing’s strongest sealing Authority! Even a Legendary Hero would not be able to break free so quickly once sealed!” Moore cried out in horror.
“The flesh mountain, a mere patchwork creation, was destined to be a sacrifice. Your act of sealing it perfectly fit my ritual, completing the final deficiency. As a token of my gratitude, join the ritual as a sacrifice!”
Accompanied by Alexius’s words, an immense, ominous shadow, covering the sky, erupted from beneath the mountain of flesh, quickly engulfing the tumor. It let out a human-like burp.
Moore, standing atop the flesh mountain, had no time to escape. He was swallowed by the immense, ominous shadow. He struggled desperately to escape the blackness but was dragged deeper.
In the pitch-black darkness, the despairing Moore roared, hurling The Frost Blessing, the quasi-Treasure Artifact, out of the shadow!
“Go! Carry my resentment and regret! Find the descendant of the frost who walks the right path! Let him restore the glory of the frost and purify this evil!”
Having done this, Moore was completely consumed by the shadow.
Alexius stood alone in the Northern March Fortress, watching the rampant shadow. He knelt down.
“First Disciple of the Darkness, Alexius, welcomes the Great Lord of Darkness, Dorkabach!”
The rampant shadow pulsed like waves, filling the entire sky. It seemed to respond to Alexius. A gigantic, sky-covering hand, smelling of decay and sulfur, tore open the heavens. Countless Demons surged from the rift, scrambling to descend.
The giant hand tried again with force. The rift in the sky widened, but some powerful force seemed to restrict the terrifying entity from fully passing through.
After a long time, the rift shrunk irresistibly. The terrifying entity roared, splitting off a projection that managed to pass through the rapidly shrinking rift.
Boom!
Accompanied by the projection’s fall into the Northern March Fortress, the rift in the sky quickly healed. The Demons who failed to pass through were instantly shredded by the closing rift, vanishing without a trace.
The Witch, holding the unconscious Solon, watched the upheaval in the Northern March from afar. The entire fortress had undergone Abyssal transformation. Dozens of Demon lairs had successfully converted using the remnants of the flesh mountain.
The former frontline against Monsters was now a playground for shadow Demons. Countless human-faced Shadow Insects bred there, biting each other, the stronger ones gradually evolving into small, sharp-tailed Demons.
“I never thought our iron-hearted Lady Witch would care about a mere mortal.” Ambrio had subtly appeared behind the Witch and spoke softly.
“This is none of your concern. However, isn’t it a pity that your flesh mountain Monster was used up just like that?” The Witch did not turn around. She held the unconscious Solon and walked quickly.
“It is my honor, and a painful honor, to provide assistance to His Excellency Dorkabach.” Ambrio bowed to the Witch. The expression on his Mask of Pain was ferocious yet ecstatic.
The Witch did not reply. Holding Solon, she took a few light steps and quickly disappeared into the distance. Ambrio stared at the Witch’s retreating figure. The Mask of Pain revealed a bizarre smile.
The Wizard Apprentices’ group saw the catastrophe in the Northern March. The palpable, ominous Abyssal aura filled them with dread, yet they were all relieved to have survived.
The Night Owl, the mirror image Ace, carrying the plump cowlick, which was bloated with supernatural knowledge, hovered in the air a few times, then landed beside Bayen and transformed back into himself.
Dressed in a black robe, with the hood down, the mirror image Ace’s plump cowlick swayed slightly on his head, occasionally letting out a tiny burp.
