Chapter 144: The Ambush (Part Two)

Three unstable burning Mana Crystal short swords struck the ground where he had just stood, immediately exploding. The Mana Crystals’ inherent instability, coupled with the fire element’s explosive effect, blew a large crater in the ground, leaving behind a smell of scorching.

Shean and the other Pseudo-Heroes were also in disarray. One Pseudo-Hero failed to evade in time, and both his legs were instantly blown off!

“Damn you! You rats in the gutter! Who gave you the audacity?” Shean roared furiously. He immediately focused his eyes, gracefully drew his Noble longsword, and, the moment he drew the sword, his entire demeanor changed. His anger vanished, replaced by a look of arrogance.

“Grace is the innate ability of every Medea descendant.” He said softly, then quickly charged toward Daina. With his elegant posture, his speed was nearly three times faster than normal.

“The descendants of the Goddess of Elegance are truly unique. We gain power from raw, visceral combat, while they gain strength from elegant actions.” Anhel shook his head. He immediately leaped high, descending from the sky, directly cutting off Daina’s and her group’s path of retreat.

“Retreat!” Daina roared. Her body crackled with electricity—the Lesser Spell Electrical Jolt Activation. Combined with her Enchanted Martial Arts: Daina Steel Fist Style, her physical constitution was elevated to the Pseudo-Hero level in an instant.

She did not hold back. Her opponent was a powerful Pseudo-Hero. Even with the prepared ambush, if they did not survive until they reached the trap, the plan would fail.

Accompanied by Daina’s rapid charge, blood-red Mana Crystals erupted from her body, quickly forming a suit of armor, complete with a sword and shield, covering Daina.

This blood-red Mana Crystal was continuously nurtured by Daina, who had followed the suggestion of the previous mirror image Ace to constantly devour the souls of dead Monsters. It possessed astonishing vitality and bloodlust.

The Mana Crystal not only had a powerful devouring effect but also defensive, offensive, and bloodlust properties. Daina, covered in the blood-red Mana Crystal armor, charged straight toward Anhel like a Valkyrie.

Anhel’s eyes were grave. The female Devil worshiper facing him had rapidly increased her strength through a geometric progression. Her aura reached Anhel’s level, or perhaps was even stronger. Anhel had to be careful.

Daina charged with an irresistible momentum, engaging Anhel in combat. She did not linger in the fight, constantly retreating while fighting.

Shean disdained cooperating with Anhel. He used his graceful posture to attack the other Wizard Apprentices. In the sky, Ace the eagle let out a cry and dove straight down.

His eagle beak pulsed rhythmically. Accompanied by Mana and a strange cadence, his voice spread: “Divine Edge · Wind · Group High-Spin Wind Blade!”

As the eagle flapped its wings, each movement brought a fierce strong wind and dozens of small, high-spinning Wind Blades that assaulted the Pseudo-Heroes.

“What kind of Monster is that! It possesses such powerful Wind Element power!” A Pseudo-Hero roared. He swung his gigantic axe, cutting and nullifying all the incoming Wind Blades.

“The Devil worshipers are actually driving Monsters! They truly deserve to be purified!” another Pseudo-Hero dodged awkwardly, yelling furiously.

Ace the eagle showed no mercy. He continuously flapped his wings at low altitude, disrupting the Pseudo-Heroes’ pursuit of the Wizard Apprentices and inflicting fatal damage on the legion soldiers.

Anhel blocked the Wind Blades with his Wonder shield, raised his Wonder spear, and aimed at Ace the eagle at low altitude!

Ace suddenly felt a shiver. The feeling was that of being locked onto, similar to being magically marked, but even stronger.

“Unmissable Spear! Bleeding Spear! Go!” Anhel silently chanted. This Wonder spear possessed the effects of Unmissable, Sharpness, Bleeding, and Return. As long as a target was aimed at for more than three seconds and was within the 500-meter range, it was guaranteed to hit!

Ace did not hesitate. He chanted a spell in a strange cadence. Mana gathered in front of him: “Seven-Layer · Continuous Generation · Defensive Mana-Crystal Ring!”

Mana Crystals grew layer after layer in front of him, blocking the spear. However, the spear stubbornly continued forward, slowly grinding, managing to break through the Mana Crystal rings’ defense!

Bad! I must run immediately.

Ace did not hesitate. He immediately spread his wings and flew high. He chanted a spell, using Wind Element Mana for acceleration, shooting straight toward the sky. After a few hundred meters, he finally felt the tracking lock disappear. He breathed a sigh of relief.

I almost got myself killed here!

Even though it was only a mirror image, and the loss could be remade for the host body, for the mirror image itself, dissolution was permanent.

Anhel watched the Monster flying into the sky. He reached out and recalled the long spear. It shook violently, breaking free from the Mana Crystal rings, and returned to Anhel’s hand.

“Chase! We cannot let these Devil worshipers escape. Otherwise, they will continually harass us, and we will never have peace.”

He took the lead, charging straight toward the direction Daina and the others fled.

The other Pseudo-Heroes and soldiers followed suit. Shean felt a pang of discomfort, but he could not remain behind. He tossed his handsome head back and followed with his elegant posture.

In the sky, Ace the eagle circled, watching them slowly walk into the trap’s recessed area. He then dove down.

“The fish have taken the bait. It is time for the harvest!”

He landed on the summit of Mount Baal, transformed back into his true form, and watched Daina and the others escape the recessed area. He immediately raised his hands and shouted loudly: “Behold the instant of eternity! Art is explosion!”

Anhel heard the voice and looked up toward Ace. Sunlight streamed over Ace, giving him a sense of holiness. The large number of Imperfect Transformation Glycerin Magic Tubes, which had been buried in the recessed area, transformed into spiders with Ace’s movement, quickly launching themselves onto the Pseudo-Heroes and ordinary soldiers.

Boom!

Anhel and the others dodged frantically, but the spiders were too numerous. They were inevitably entangled. A fierce explosion blew several Pseudo-Heroes to pieces.

A series of continuous inferno explosions erupted in the entire recessed area. The immense shockwave and heat hit Daina and the others who had just left the area. They watched the entire trap explode into a giant crater. The air was filled with the pungent smell of scorched, cooked meat. They looked at each other in stunned silence.

“The—the Great Torch-Bearer’s trap has such immense power!” a Wizard Apprentice cried out in shock.

“Over 150 men. Even their bones have melted. No! There are two Divine Descendants still alive.” Another apprentice looked at the recessed area, both shocked by Ace’s trap’s power and in disbelief that two Divine Descendants were still alive.

Ace looked at Anhel, who was struggling with only half a body, and the blood-stained, no longer elegant Shean. He sighed. He watched Anhel struggling to raise his long spear, aiming at him, seemingly shouting something.

Ace slowly pointed his finger at Anhel. The Soul Pulverization Curse Rune Array activated. The aura of coldness and the wailing resentment immediately consumed Anhel and Shean, leaving only their corpses and Wonders quietly lying there.
