Chapter 170: Signs

“Warren’s question is excellent. When we experience anything bizarre, we must not only remember the process but also investigate the cause, explore the unknown, and pursue the truth!”

“Daring to ask questions and having the courage to doubt are essential qualities for an excellent Wizard.”

“You all know that I gifted you the Grimoires. The second page contains your mental imprint. Every time you meditate, you nourish that mental imprint. We have nourished and cultivated these mental imprints for many days, and today is the time for harvest.”

“The mental imprints not only link together to form a Mental Imprint Network, but due to the spiritual resonance of all us Wizards, it has become a more unique existence. It witnessed the Cornerstone Principles and the Primordial Covenants between us.”

“Regarding it, I am as full of doubts and expectations as Warren. Let us activate the Mental Imprint Network together again and explore its mysteries!”

After speaking, Ace took out his core Grimoire, flipped to the second page, and pressed his right hand firmly onto it.

The cowlick on his head lay flat and motionless. The Spirit of the Book was utterly exhausted and had not yet recovered. It was still sleeping and would be difficult to wake in the short term.

Without the help of the Spirit of the Book, relying solely on the paltry mental strength of Ace and the Wizards, it was absolutely impossible to enter the Sea of Illusion and Reality and step into the embryonic Collective Subconscious Sea again.

Ace roughly realized this, but without conducting an experiment, he could not verify the truth. He needed an experiment to verify it.

Even if they couldn’t enter the embryonic Subconscious Sea, he would still achieve his objective. He also needed to verify the difference between the Mental Imprint Network with the soul resonance of all Wizard Apprentices and without it.

This was a single comparative experiment, a tentative exploration of the Mental Imprint Network that might represent the Collective Conscious Mind of the Wizards.

Under the cold light of the Controllable Light Orb, the apprentices took out their Grimoires one after another. Touching the hexagram pattern on the cover, they opened their Grimoires to the second page and pressed their hands firmly onto it!

Buzz!

As everyone touched the mental imprint on the second page of their Grimoires, Ace, as the core, instantly linked with everyone.

Compared to the apprentices, his mental strength was a genuine blazing torch, burning fiercely. The apprentices’ mental strength was like tinder—tiny but full of infinite potential.

The invisible mental power of the crowd, following the mental imprint of the Grimoire, successfully linked with Ace’s core Grimoire through the signal transmission function on the last page.

An invisible mental network radiated from Ace, the blazing torch, connecting every Wizard Apprentice present, linking these tinder sparks.

Ace’s mental power degree, infinitely close to the Hero level, and the covenant authority of the core Grimoire made him the Root Consciousness of the Mental Imprint Network.

He felt this Mental Imprint Network. Everyone was singly linked to him through the mental imprint of their Grimoire, like invisible threads of spirit.

Ace perceived carefully. He strove to adjust the frequency of his mental vibration, leading the Wizard Apprentices to synchronize the frequency of their natural mental vibrations into a single range.

Buzz!

When everyone’s mental power reached a unified range, a strange change occurred in the entire radiating network. Something seemed about to be born.

Bayen stroked his somewhat short, salt-and-pepper beard. His loose, wrinkled right hand pressed on the second page of his Grimoire. He felt a tremor in his soul, as if taking a cold shower in the dead of winter—a shiver ran through his soul.

But after that, when his mind connected with Ace, the Dominant Consciousness, through the Grimoire, an indescribable pleasure emerged.

On the other side, Daina and several other female Wizard Apprentices were flushed, as if bathing in a warm ocean.

All the Wizard Apprentices felt physically and mentally delighted. Their mental power was extremely active, and their mental power limit even increased slightly.

Some restrained apprentices had already detached from the pleasurable state. They experimented curiously, discovering that through the radiating mental network, they could communicate with Ace and other apprentices. Emotions and ideas could be exchanged rapidly.

Ace felt that his mental power degree, which hadn’t changed for a long time, showed signs of loosening. He strove to maintain it, hoping his mental power degree could achieve the final leap. However, as time passed, the change Ace hoped for slowly disappeared, and his just-loosened mental power degree solidified again.

The entire network did not produce the change Ace desired. It only retained ordinary communication and computational capabilities. Such a mental network could instantly use collective wisdom for deduction and judgment, and was extremely intelligent and flexible.

This state of collective deduction and judgment was similar to the combination of a collective brainstorming session and collective scientific research in reality. With the aid of the rapid communication mental network, it achieved the effect of simulating collective consciousness deduction and judgment.

Because it involved the direct participation of actively thinking individuals rather than rigid mental imprints, the deduction and judgment capabilities of this mental network had immense potential to be tapped.

These were all very useful, but not what Ace needed most urgently at the moment. The effect of such a radiating mental network was insufficient. It lacked deeper, more magical changes—the vague, elusive change of mental loosening.

From the loosening of his mental power degree, Ace derived a hypothesis: perhaps this deeper change could help him achieve the ultimate leap in his life essence!

After experimenting for a while, he silently stopped the radiating mental network, disconnecting from the crowd. He said warmly to everyone:

“My apprentices, through this experiment, we can discover that with the participation of us, these intelligent subjects, the Mental Imprint Network has undergone richer changes. We can communicate more effectively and even use collective wisdom for deduction and judgment.”

“However, merely linking like this is not considered a success. At this time, we need to think, to ask ‘why’ several times!”

“Why did such a mental link not achieve the effect of a grand dream? Are there other forms of linking? What is the principle behind the mental link? Why can we link with each other? How should we improve this link? Are there other similar situations in nature?”

“Failure is not terrible. on the road of researching the unknown, on the road of seeking truth, we cannot always have smooth sailing!”

“The night is deep now. Everyone can go back and think about these questions. Even if you want to research more, we must rest first. Only with good rest can we research the unknown in our best state!”

This time, Ace did not use his signature spell Suggestion. The Supreme Wizard Affinity talent obtained in the embryonic Subconscious Sea was more effective than any mental control or mental influence Soul Spell!
