Chapter 185: Distribution
While Ace was speaking, the mirror image, transformed into Sharp, had already run to the clearing, kicking up a cloud of dust. He stood behind Ace.
“Everyone is here. Bayen and Daina, please step forward and stand behind me.”
Hearing Ace’s voice, the somewhat puzzled Bayen and Daina obediently walked behind Ace, standing alongside Logan in his oversized hat and “Sharp.”
Daina stared at “Sharp” for a while. She found him very familiar but couldn’t recall where she had seen him. She tapped her straight nose, thinking hard.
Ace did not notice Daina’s gaze. He smiled as brightly as the sun, saying warmly: “My apprentices, I am honored to introduce to you the four people behind me, plus myself. We will be responsible for teaching your first-year courses.”
Bayen and Daina were somewhat surprised but also understanding. They stepped forward and bowed to the apprentices.
Strictly speaking, only they were part of Ace’s original team and had studied with Ace for a long time. Both had already reached the Mid-level Wizard Apprentice level, so their appointment as teachers was understandable.
“Bayen will be responsible for teaching Elementary Mathematics Application. Daina will be responsible for Logical Thinking. They are both teachers and students, needing to study the other three courses.”
In Ace’s arrangement, regardless of magical level, everyone had to study seriously for five years. This was to solidify their foundation and enhance his own authority. He was the mentor of all Wizards and the Principal of these Wizards.
Title, status, and seniority were intangible assets besides strength. Even with the Cornerstone Principles and Primordial Covenants established by the embryonic Subconscious Sea, Ace still valued these greatly.
“This is Logan.” As Ace continued the introduction, Logan in the oversized hat stepped forward, removed his hat, and bowed to the apprentices present.
“Logan is a mortal, but he is also a famous scholar in the Northern March. He is responsible for the course The Art of Common Language. He is very interested in Magic, and I permit him to audit the other four courses in the future.”
The apprentices looked at Logan with interest, and Logan was also very excited. He finally had the opportunity to have close contact with supernatural knowledge.
“This is Sharp. He is my capable assistant. He will be responsible for the Lesser Runology course.”
With Ace’s introduction, “Sharp” stepped forward ceremoniously and bowed to the crowd. Donna, among the Wizard Apprentices, looked at Sharp doubtfully. She also felt somewhat familiar, as if she had seen this person somewhere before.
“Finally, it is me. I am responsible for teaching the Lesser Meditation course, and I also serve as the Principal of the High Tower Elementary Magic School.”
As Ace smiled and spoke the last word, Sulu applauded first, shouting loudly: “High Tower Eternal! Principal Supreme!”
The other apprentices followed suit, applauding. Ace enjoyed the flattery briefly, then pressed his hands forward in the air. The sound stopped immediately. His voice was not loud, but it was transmitted to every apprentice’s ear via the Amplification Spell formed by the Sound Rune:
“Do not say ‘Principal Supreme.’ I hope to hear that you always maintain a spirit of questioning and an objective, neutral spirit of inquiry. Thinking Wizards Supreme!
As long as you, the future members of the High Tower, always walk on the correct path and pass down our spirit, the fire of the High Tower is destined to be eternal!”
The apprentices were even more excited by Ace’s inspiring words. They thought again of the night talk at the foot of Mount Baal, Ace’s resonant words still ringing in their ears.
“Who is willing to raise the torch and become the next Torch-Bearer?”
Sulu frowned. It seemed ordinary flattery didn’t work well on the Torch-Bearer. At least it didn’t backfire. He needed to study this “spirit of questioning” carefully.
Just as he was thinking, he suddenly saw Warren listening intently to Ace. His eyes lit up. Perhaps getting close to Warren would be a good choice.
Ace continued warmly:
“With the school established, we are a tighter collective, and this collective needs some formal commonalities. I have prepared Magic Robes and Magic Badges for everyone. In the future, every Wizard must wear a Magic Robe, wear a Magic Badge, and hold a Grimoire.
All three are quasi-Magic Items. The Grimoire is nourished and strengthened through your meditation. The Magic Robe and Magic Badge do not have growth potential. You can complete the charging by guiding Mana into them through meditation.”
After speaking, Ace took out the Monster stomach pouch, tossed the contents into the air, and chanted an incantation.
“Float!”
Accompanied by his incantation, one hundred Magic Robes and one hundred Magic Badges floated in the sky. He then pointed, and the robes and badges flew toward everyone present except Logan.
A few extra robes and badges still floated in the sky. Ace waved his hand, and the robes and badges returned to the stomach pouch following his movement.
Holding the brand-new robes and badges, the apprentices were extremely excited. Some apprentices looked expectantly at the magical pouch on Ace’s waist, capable of holding so many clothes and badges. The Torch-Bearer truly had many Wonders. He was indeed the Torch-Bearer!
After Ace detailed the functions of the robes and badges and the difference between Magic Items and quasi-Magic Items, the apprentices eagerly began trying to charge the robes and badges.
For most of them, this was the first time they had obtained a quasi-Magic Item other than the Grimoire. In the city-state, except for Nobles and a few lucky Citizens, ordinary people had almost no chance to obtain such Wonders.
About an hour later, the apprentices finished charging.
After charging, the Magic Robes automatically adapted to the wearer’s figure, fitting perfectly. The Magic Badges also automatically attached to their chests. Most were colorless hexagrams, while a few were white regular hexagons.
Ace and “Sharp” both had white hexagram patterns flashing on their chests, corresponding perfectly to everyone’s strength level.
Ace did not give everyone too much time to indulge in their newly acquired Magic Robes and Magic Badges. He said with a slightly stern voice:
“Even the best quasi-Magic Item is just a tool. We can use tools, but we cannot be useless without them. Now, please prepare, every apprentice. We will conduct assessments one by one. Any apprentice who meets the standard will gain access to all Lesser Runes in the shared Lesser Rune Library!
Any apprentice who fails to meet the standard will receive punishment!”
Hearing this, the confident ones were excited, the less proficient ones were uneasy, and those who were completely unqualified, like Arno and Ancestar, turned pale and felt dead inside.
Accompanied by Arno’s despairing cry like a defeated dog, the assessment of the apprentices began.
