Chapter 225: One Year

At noon, on the first floor of the West Tower of the Magic School Castle.

Borg respectfully reported to Ace in the West Tower: “We have successfully obtained the permit for the Cimali fleet. In the future, we can disguise ourselves as a Cimali fleet to trade with the Northern City-States.”

Daina also looked at Ace with piercing eyes and said:

“The situation in Cimali has been basically clarified. The Merfolk and Half-Merfolk have established a new city-state called the Pontos City-State. The Son of the Sea is their patron deity. Any human believer who worships the Son of the Sea will be blessed at certain times and transformed into a Half-Merfolk.

It is a city-state of heterodox beings. Although they do not openly reject humans for now, the entire city-state is fanatically proud of becoming Merfolk.”

Ace nodded and said: “In the future, we will use the names of Cimali and Medimus to purchase population, livestock, seeds, medicinal herbs, and other necessary goods from the Northern City-States. The changes in Cimali are not a bad thing for us; the more complex the situation, the greater our living space.”

Daina nodded slightly and continued to say to Ace: “The minor incident during our entry into the port gave me some ideas. Teacher Ace, our port is within the range of the north-south shipping routes, posing a certain risk of exposure. We are still too weak right now; exposure would be harmful and offer no benefits.

I propose researching an Architectural Concealment Magic to hide the entire harbor district using magical means.”

Ace’s eyes lit up, and he affirmed Daina: “Your idea is good. I will include it in the research plan.”

One year later.

In the Fountain Square of Nightlight City, a bronze statue was erected a few days ago. It was a male statue about six meters high, with a fit physique and a resolute expression. Rune arrays were inscribed on its body, sparking occasionally.

There were a few lines of text on the base of the statue: “Sharp, died in the first year of the Magic Calendar.”

“At the moment of crisis, carrying thousands of Glycerin Magic Tubes, he rushed into the mouth of the Monster Tide Behemoth and detonated the tubes from the inside, ending the greatest crisis of the Night of the Waning Moon and saving the High Tower Territory.”

Pedestrians passed by the statue successively, bowing deeply to it and offering bouquets of fresh flowers.

At this time, Wizard Apprentice Eddie brought a group of children to the Fountain Square. He skillfully used the Lesser Amplification Spell and said to the children: “This is our hero, a hero belonging to mortals, a great warrior, Advanced Wizard Apprentice Sharp!”

“The final battle of the Monster Tide War was the Night of the Waning Moon. Legend has it that the Monster Tide occurs about every fifty years. Each time, it causes chaotic riots among the creatures of the Larr Mountains. After each occurrence, the number of Monsters, humans, and ordinary creatures in the Larr Mountains decreases drastically, with humans, in particular, nearing extinction.

But this time, not only did most of us survive, but we are also living better and better. Everyone can eat their fill and eat well, clothing is becoming more diverse, there are schools to attend, and in the future, you might even learn Magic!

All of this is thanks to Lord Torch-Bearer Ace, who led the Wizards to establish the High Tower Territory, and true heroes like Lord Sharp who sacrificed themselves for the High Tower Territory!”

The General Education School had been established for nearly a year. Because of Ace’s reward policy, many apprentices chose to work part-time as teachers at the school. While teaching ordinary children, they also displayed the charm of Magic up close.

In this way, they narrowed the distance between ordinary people and Magic, inspiring the children’s longing and affinity for Magic.

The afternoon part-time teaching time passed quickly. Eddie returned to the Magic School castle and ate dinner in the hall.

He had just advanced to the third year of Magic School. As a relatively ordinary Wizard Apprentice, Eddie did not skip grades all the way to the fifth year like Daina, Bayen, and Betty.

“I heard the fifth years have started learning the universal spell Magical Trickery. I’m so envious!”

“And that thick book, The Complete Collection of Lesser Incantations. No need to construct Spell Models; just moving your mouth and mind can cast magic. It’s simply a gospel for countless Wizard Apprentices.”

“More than that, they have started learning how to concoct Magic Potions. I heard Betty created a potion that can greatly enhance mental power after drinking it!”

“The key ingredient for that potion is too hard to obtain. I heard Betty barely survived in the Larr Mountains to obtain it by chance.”

Eddie pursed his lips and took out two parchment scrolls titled Lesser Familiar Covenant Studies and Elementary Enlightenment Research.

These were two courses available only in the third year: Familiar Covenant class and Biological Enlightenment class. These were also the two courses Eddie looked forward to the most.

“Instead of envying the fifth-year curriculum and others’ serendipity, it’s better to grasp the current knowledge steadily. Although Ancestar’s Gale Horse is cool, I will definitely contract a cooler and more potential-filled familiar,” he thought while gnawing on white bread.

“The Familiar Covenant is a subdivision of Covenant Magic, and a very important one. Wizard Apprentices can establish various covenants with certain supernatural creatures through the Familiar Covenant.

Not only can you establish Master-Servant Covenants, but in the future, you can also deeply research Covenant Magic to create new covenant types, such as sharing the familiar’s life, sharing the familiar’s Mana, or having the familiar unilaterally bear the damage received by the master, and so on.

Some of the things mentioned above have achieved preliminary research results, while others have not yet been realized.

But as long as everyone maintains enthusiasm for research and guides their research with objective and neutral thinking, one day someone will create the magic mentioned above, or even stronger magic.”

Eddie looked at the preface on the scroll, his heart surging with excitement, his face flushed. In a trance, he seemed to see himself commanding an army of thousands of magical creatures, easily defeating Divine Descendant Heroes.

He lowered his head and continued reading Lesser Familiar Covenant Studies with intense concentration.

“The Familiar Covenant is based on the Master-Servant Covenant or the Mutual Aid Covenant, but it is different from them.

We will command the contracted familiar as easily as moving our own arm because, during the covenant process, we split half of our own mental power to form a Double Helix Structure with the familiar’s mental power. Supplemented by the corresponding rune structure, this forms a stable Lesser Familiar Imprint.

This imprint allows the familiar to form a unique telepathic connection with us. Both parties can achieve barrier-free communication through the imprint.

In a sense, the familiar is like a clone of yours, capable of completing many tasks for you under your telepathic command.

Relying on this close connection, you will generate great resistance to mental influences such as Abyssal Whispers, and even allow the familiar to bear certain fatal mysterious supernatural attacks for you.

However, this is not without cost.”

Reading this, Eddie’s face suddenly turned somewhat pale, and he gasped. The book read:

“Only one such Lesser Familiar Imprint can be established during the Lesser and Mid-level Wizard Apprentice stages. If a second one is forcibly established, the best-case scenario is covenant failure; the worst-case scenario is becoming a lunatic or even death.”
