Chapter 255: 1-Ring Spell Models

Power Word required an Supernatural language as a carrier; without an Supernatural language, Power Word could not be cast.

Unlike Advanced Magical Trickery, Power Word was roughly comprehensive but didn’t cover every little detail. In exchange for sacrificing that versatility, it gained extremely potent combat magic effects.

simply put, Power Word stripped away other applications to focus purely on offensive and defensive linguistic magic.

The second 1-Ring Spell Ace combined was the Dream Force Field. The Dream Rune group itself was composed of Level 1 Runes. Ace degraded them into Level 0 Runes, then combined them with Level 0 Illusion Runes to construct this 1-Ring Spell, the Dream Force Field, which possessed effects including dreams, illusions, charm, suggestion, control of the five senses, and memory manipulation.

This spell could be considered the culmination of Ace’s current mental magic. It integrated all 0-Ring Illusion Spells into one. It bore some resemblance to the three-dimensional Rune structure in the Eye of Illusion, but it was far more powerful and incorporated dream and memory manipulation effects.

Given Ace’s current life level status, even an Advanced Knight Squire within the territory likely couldn’t resist this spell. A Formal Knight, however, would probably be the most effective counter to it.

Of course, Ace couldn’t rely on this single spell alone. If he encountered an enemy with extremely strong mental resistance, like a Formal Knight, he would be done for in an instant.

“This 1-Ring Spell can’t meet my highest expectations. Using dreams as a foundation to manifest reality from the void… this is currently just a spell for manipulating the mind and controlling the soul.

“I can use this spell to delve deeper into the mysteries of dreams, in hopes of one day realizing the mutual transformation of dream and reality.”

Over the last decade of development, the Wizard collective had discovered more than a dozen magic elements. The Four Elements Basis Theory was slowly being born, derived by Wizard Apprentices from myths, legends, and magical practice.

The current mainstream academic view held that the four elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water were the cornerstone elements of the world, and all other elements were derivations and combinations of these cornerstones. This theory explained many things quite well, such as why elements had generative and repressive relationships, and how they were derived.

Ace did not reject or deny this theory. Under the major premise that no microscopic particles had been discovered yet, this theory—summarized from practical experience—was, if not the absolute truth, at least an approximation of the truth to some degree.

Based on practical situations, Ace spent a month creating a “Magic Element Derivation Table.” Starting from the four cornerstone elements, he categorized all discovered elements and marked their derivation and combination relationships.

Looking at this chart, Ace gently stroked it and said:

“In the absence of confirming microscopic particles, perhaps this chart will guide us for a considerable time. The day we can truly deny or affirm it might be the day we truly understand the elements.”

Based on the generative and repressive relationships in this chart, he created a 1-Ring Spell: the Four-Element Ring.

This spell could individually unleash effects like Scorching Burst, Mud-to-Stone, Ultra-High Pressure Water Cannon, and Thousand Wind Blades. It could also amplify and combine these into new spells based on the principles of generation and repression.

The spell’s strongest state was a massive Four-Element Ring, where the effects of the four elements reacted violently within, destroying the enemy with the explosive power of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water.

In addition to this, Ace created three new spells: Touch of Ice, 3D Displacement Spell (Low-Altitude Flight), and Perception Spell.

The Perception Spell was a synthesis of several perception spells from the Advanced Wizard Apprentice stage. It possessed four efficacies: magic sensitivity, insight perception, ultrasound perception, and retrieval scanning, all of which could be used in comprehensive coordination.

The 3D Displacement Spell was simple: rapid movement. It utilized the assistance of Earth and Wind elements to achieve rapid movement in all directions, though it couldn’t pass through specific bindings or obstacles.

To use gaming terminology from his past life, the Displacement Spell couldn’t clip through walls, but it could jump over them.

The Displacement Spell also functioned as a low-altitude flight spell, allowing flight below five hundred meters at speeds not exceeding three hundred kilometers per hour.

The effects of Touch of Ice were Ice-Wind Sealing and Soul Pulverization.

Before escaping the Northern Border, Ace had used the Spirit of the Book to record the combat knowledge of Moore Rona. The most abundant data concerned the Runes formed by frost trajectories.

Ice Element Runes, derived from Water Element Runes, were one of the cornerstones of frost power. The defining characteristics of frost-series spells were low temperatures and freezing winds.

Ace combined extreme cold spells capable of freezing the soul, gale spells, and Soul Pulverization spells to create the 1-Ring Spell Touch of Ice, which required no Casting Materials. Of course, Casting Materials could be used to enhance the effect.

This spell struck directly at the soul. It could release an extreme cold wind that blew incessantly against the soul and body, causing severe frostbite at the soul level, stagnating the opponent’s mental perception, and slowing their physical reactions.

If this blowing wind continued to accumulate an excessive amount of soul frostbite, one could use a Level 1 Life equivalent Wraith Powder as a Casting Material to directly detonate the Soul Pulverization effect hidden within the frostbite, instantly extinguishing the enemy’s soul.

“If Touch of Ice has the chance to accumulate enough soul frostbite, and I use a Level 1 Life grade Casting Material, the released effect might be enough to rival a 2-Ring Spell.

“This is a valid line of thinking. 1-Ring Spells that don’t require Casting Materials can still be strengthened by them!

“In any case, these spells have been replicated into my Soul Sanctuary. I am now a standard Formal Wizard!”

Ace muttered to himself as he flipped through the latest issue of Magic.

The latest issue of Magic was dominated by papers on Supernatural Transformation spells. Ace read with gusto, admiring the Wizard Apprentices’ wide-open imaginations and research.

“Caruso is a talent. He produced amazing results immediately after advancing to Advanced Wizard Apprentice. This spell is very inspiring to me as well.

“The ceiling for the Transformation Spell is the Intermediate Wizard Apprentice level. Even Advanced Wizard Apprentices can’t achieve Perfect Transformation. For me, having become a Formal Wizard, its effect is even more negligible.

“The Supernatural Transformation Spell is different. If one can transform into a powerful low-level Monster, one can transform into a Pseudo-Hero. This greatly expands the practical combat range of transformation.

“I can reference this 0-Ring Spell. Perhaps I can create a 1-Ring Spell level Supernatural Transformation Spell. A Level 1 Life can contract more than one familiar. As long as I nurture a Doppelganger to the Level 1 Life standard, there shouldn’t be any major issues later.

“However, their research hasn’t touched upon the foundation yet. Regarding the foundation, based on existing observations, most Wizard Apprentices agree with the Life Forbidden Zone Hypothesis proposed by Bayen. There exists a forbidden zone of life within the cell, hiding a significant secret.”

Ace casually set down Magic, picked up a magnifying glass, and placed it before his eye. Looking at the suddenly enlarged objects, he continued:

“It can be surmised that the so-called Life Forbidden Zone inside the biological cells of this world is where the genetic material lies, conveying the mysteries of life!

“A microscope made of ordinary Magified glass isn’t enough to observe the Life Forbidden Zone. This isn’t just a matter of manufacturing craftsmanship; optical microscopes have their limitations. Organelle-level existences cannot be observed through optical microscopes alone; observing the cellular level is the limit.

“Even in my past life, DNA microscopy capable of observing genes was extremely complex.

“Even using optical means, one needs to ‘dye’ the DNA first—the so-called fluorescence in situ hybridization technology—which is also extremely complex. The key is finding the fluorescein.

“Just this current form of academic exchange through papers isn’t enough. I need to establish an academic research environment similar to the universities of my past life, gathering excellent academic Wizards to conduct systematic research categorized by Elements, Astrology (Prophecy), Life, Soul, Contract Summoning, and Alchemy.”

A few days later, Ace convened an academic report at the High Tower Castle.
