Chapter 270: Chaos
Ace cautiously constructed the Level 1 Soul Illusion Rune and the Level 1 Simulation rune array into two Spell Models. Then, he connected them in series with the Dream Spell Model through the interface of the Fusion Rune. The three Spell Models constituted a composite Spell Model.
“Dreams, soul illusions, and simulation… it’s still missing something. What I need is a Spell Model that intersects with reality. At this stage, the most suitable one is an Elemental Spell Model.
“Since discovering Negative Energy, the neglected Positive Energy can also be observed. I should create a 2-Ring Spell Model possessing Positive Energy, Negative Energy, and the four elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water.
“Positive Energy guides creation, and Negative Energy guides destruction. This way, the foundation of my path will have a basis in both the virtual and the real. Only then will it be possible to realize the transformation between virtual and real, refining falsehood into truth in the future.”
Although he said this, the Level 1 Runes related to elements were incomplete. He had recorded the Rune trajectories during the great war between the Divine Descendants of the Northern Border and the Demons. The power of frost came from Wind and Water, so he had Level 1 Runes for Wind and Water elements.
Ace had also observed and summarized the trajectory of Negative Energy, an energy that dominated shadows and the Undead.
Apart from these, there were no corresponding Level 1 Runes for Earth, Fire, and Positive Energy. Ace had to collect or deduce them himself.
“Of course, I have to collect them. Doing homework yourself and copying homework are two completely different difficulty levels.”
After making up his mind, Ace set up a Reverse Summoning Magic Array in the White Bone Castle and returned to the Material Plane.
It was winter. Even at noon, the Saria Jungle was somewhat gloomy and cold.
“Disordered Mana, a thick smell of blood, scorching heat, and explosions. It seems a great battle took place here.”
A bloodthirsty smile appeared at the corner of Ace’s mouth. He just happened to need a Hero-level descendant of Eric for an experiment. This was simply someone sending a pillow when he was sleepy.
Tus drove the mechanical man to flee frantically. He had been symbiotic with this machine since he was very young; they were partners as one.
“Faster, faster, Demon!”
Creaking sounds came from the clumsy mechanical man. It was a defensive robot; speed was not its specialty.
“Sinner who sold your soul to evil, accept the judgment of flame!”
A man wearing black clothes, an iron mask, and bare feet condensed a ball of blazing flame in his hand. It turned into a long snake, chasing after Tus.
Not far away, Ace had already discovered all this through the Perception Spell.
“Perception comparison—the opponent’s mental power degree is almost the same as mine. The Dream Force Field can only influence him, not control him. What I need is his body and his heart densely covered in runes; as for the soul, it doesn’t matter.”
While Ace was analyzing, Tus had already fallen into despair. His strength was only at the Pseudo-Hero level; it was difficult for him to contend with such a powerful enemy.
He gritted his teeth and controlled the machine to turn around. Even if he died, he wanted to die with dignity!
The fire snake attacked. Tus could already feel the heatwave and the scorching air. Being roasted alive? That didn’t seem very dignified either, he thought wildly.
As for reinforcements, there couldn’t be any. He was part of the group that voluntarily stayed behind to cover the retreat. He only hoped that Lord Nicholas could lead everyone to escape the encirclement.
Tus closed his eyes and accepted his fate. If there was another chance, he would still want to be an unyielding Torch-Stealer.
Boom!
There was no instant searing heat. Did the opponent want to torture him severely before he died? Tus made up his mind secretly; if it came to it, he would self-destruct. He absolutely could not be tortured or captured alive.
He opened his eyes slowly and looked at the sturdy stone wall in front of him in disbelief. When did it appear?
The stone wall blocked the blazing fire snake. Ravens seemed to caw. A pitch-black human figure appeared on top of the stone wall. Under the sunlight, this silhouette was so imposing.
“Who are you? A Desecrator?”
The iron-masked man shouted loudly. In fact, he knew the other party must be a Desecrator. Moreover, this black shadow was too familiar. It was the terrifying Desecrator who had assassinated four Heroes in half a year. In the Punishers’ penalty list, because he appeared accompanied by Shadow Ravens, he was called the “Dark Raven Devil.”
This descendant of Eric was named Chase. He had no confidence in defeating the “Dark Raven Devil.”
Legend had it that the “Dark Raven Devil” possessed extremely rare spatial abilities, capable of continuous short-distance spatial blinks. He could also manipulate the power of the four elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water simultaneously, and turn into a shadow. He had almost no obvious weaknesses.
Seeing the two confronting each other, Tus didn’t care about anything else. He scrambled to drive the machine and fled.
Chase stared at Ace.
Ace floated into mid-air, looking down at him.
Chase raised one hand and pointed at the sky. Blazing fireballs attacked Ace in mid-air like a rapid-fire cannon.
Ace used the Low-Altitude Flight Spell to dodge nimbly. While assessing the opponent’s strength, he activated the Four-Element Ring to counterattack.
Chase suddenly released a wave of ferocious, giant fire snakes, then turned around and fled rapidly.
Ace narrowed his eyes slightly. The Perception Spell and Astrological Prevision Spell activated, observing the surrounding environment.
“Three Heroes are rushing over from the northwest. I must end the battle quickly.”
He fully activated the Low-Altitude Flight Spell, and with a nimble leap of the Shadow Raven Blink, he arrived beside Chase instantly. The Touch of Extreme Cold he had prepared long ago was unleashed.
Chase instantly felt a wave of severe cold. His bones were frozen stiff, and his entire person’s movements and reactions became sluggish.
He activated the flame in his heart, wanting to use heat to drive away the cold. Boom!
He was wrapped in flames, counterattacking fiercely against Ace. He knew that blindly fleeing was impossible; he had to fight back and stall until reinforcements arrived.
Ace’s soul flew. In critical moments, he used Shadow Raven Blink to teleport, casting Touch of Extreme Cold uninterruptedly. Under the perception field, Ace could already see layer upon layer of ice crawling over Chase’s soul.
The flames of the body could not drive away the ice on the soul in a hurry. With Ace’s repeated blowing, Chase’s mental strength was severely weakened, and he felt dizzy.
He found it hard to adapt to fighting Ace. His flame attacks dealt massive damage, but they required a certain amount of charging time and simply couldn’t catch Ace. As for high-speed combat, he wasn’t a descendant of Heracles or the God of Combat; he possessed neither a tyrannical body nor superior supernatural martial arts.
‘Six layers of ice soul damage already. He can’t hold on much longer,’ Ace thought.
In Ace’s perception, the three Heroes were about to arrive. He didn’t hesitate. He took out the high-quality casting material obtained from killing Heroes and torturing their souls—Level 1 Life Wraith Powder. The Touch of Extreme Cold, carrying intense resentment and extreme chill, blew onto Chase.
Instantly, it detonated the six layers of Ice Soul damage in his soul. Chase’s soul turned into a frozen statue and was extracted from his body by Ace.
Without any hesitation, Ace fled the place immediately. He wouldn’t engage in reckless bravery. Having consumed more than half of his mana, fighting one against three was meaningless. Running away after getting the benefits was the right move.
Ace circled a few times with the corpse and the soul ice sculpture. After confirming no one was tracking him, he returned to the Reflection World through the Reverse Summoning Magic Array.
In the following time, Ace quietly returned to the jungle every night to observe the situation and ask around.
In the swamp to the west of the jungle, he killed an Intermediate Monster, a Swamp Giant Rhinoceros, and brought it back to the Reflection World for research.
He successfully gathered all Level 1 Runes related to the four elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water.
