Chapter 280: Prophecy

Witte didn’t have enough Points to exchange for the specifically developed Spell Models, but he remembered these three directions: Amplify Damage, Poison Stagnation, and Aging.

Amplify Damage utilized a combination of the Death Rune and Runes that hindered recovery, causing the opponent to unknowingly suffer more severe injuries.

Poison Stagnation utilized a combination of the Death Rune and toxin-type Runes, causing the opponent to continuously weaken from poisoning and suffer delayed bodily reactions, while simultaneously accumulating toxins for a final, instant detonation.

Aging was a more profound application. Caruso believed that since life nourishment could increase lifespan, the reverse Runes of the Death Rune and Nourishment Rune might very well lead to irreversible aging.

Based on this, Caruso reverse-deduced the Wither Rune and combined it into the Aging Curse.

“Lord Caruso can truly be called a Master of Curses.”

Witte couldn’t help but marvel. He didn’t have enough Points to exchange for the Spell Models, but exchanging for the relevant Runes was still possible.

Witte researched using the exchanged Runes. He was very interested in toxins. While others enthusiastically discussed meditation methods, only Witte hungrily researched toxins using the free materials from the magic salon.

The magic salon gradually came to an end. Witte never found his senior, Mr. Turtledove. Everyone used aliases and transformed appearances. Without the soul connection of the grimore, Witte couldn’t determine who Turtledove was.

Just as Witte was about to leave, a pair of withered hands grabbed him, and a hoarse voice sounded.

“Mr. Thaler, would you like to try astrological divination? It’s free!”

Witte looked at the old woman. Compassion arose in his heart, and he finally decided to try astrological divination.

Dim starlight flickered, and a faint glow gradually emerged from the cheap, turbid glass ball. Furness stroked the glass ball with her withered hands and whispered to Witte:

“Imagine the matter or person you want to divine. Calm your mind and leave the rest to the stars.”

Witte involuntarily thought of his lover and junior, Misha. Feeling sweetness in his heart, he actually drifted off to sleep slowly.

Furness looked at the glass ball in surprise, murmuring.

“This state is excellent. It’s exactly like the optimal state for astrological divination described by Lord Bayen. I just need to guide the Natal Star, slowly correct the position, and the stars will tell us the answer.”

After a long while, Witte woke up. He felt a bit cold all over, as if he had had a bad dream.

Furness’s glass ball had already cracked. Her turbid eyes stared at the glass ball, and she murmured somewhat hesitantly to the awakened Witte:

“The disaster star descends. Be careful these few days. Jealousy can drive people mad. Perhaps…”

Just then, the yellow local dog mask suddenly appeared, and the hearty, magnetic male voice rang out.

“Get up quickly, Mrs. Furness. Your glass ball has exploded. The salon is over. See you next time.”

Watchdog interrupted Furness’s prophecy, pushing the two out of the corridor. The door opened, and a cool breeze blew past.

Witte looked at Furness. For some reason, he suddenly had a bit of faith in astrological divination.

“What was the second half of the prophecy?”

Furness replied with a bitter face in a hoarse voice, “I don’t know either. In that state similar to somniloquy, it wasn’t me speaking, but fate speaking through my mouth. Blame that damn Watchdog. It was such a hard-won optimal state. See you again if fate allows, young man.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Furness turned and left.

Witte returned home under the starlight. The prophecy lingered in his ears like a fishbone stuck in his throat, making him toss and turn.

Time rewinds to before the magic salon began. Ace was in Warren’s home.

A few days ago, he approved the proposal of Warren and others to pilot the instigation of the Unawakened (Incompetent) in Milne and changed the term “Divine Descendant Wizard” to “Warlock.”

Ace was conducting a simulation experiment. The purpose of this experiment was still to research the mystery of immortality.

‘The Skeleton Warrior transformation experiment following the path of the physical heart has been completed, and the Phylactery has also been successfully created. However, the Lich transformation experiment following the path of the mind is still just a concept. This concept involves experimental ethical issues. Unless an Advanced Wizard Apprentice volunteers, it is impossible to conduct this experiment.’

Ace only recorded his thoughts in his magic diary. All Advanced Wizard Apprentices were his own people, and even Advanced Warlock Apprentices were his own people. This was the ethical dilemma of the experiment.

Today, Ace thought of a way to bypass the ethical dilemma: using his own clone for the experiment. He had three Shadows of the True Spirit. One guarded the Wizards’ Collective Subconscious Sea, one conducted research in the High Tower Territory, and there happened to be one more available for the experiment.

After using the 2-Ring Dawn and Bright Moon Meditation Method (Light and Dark Meditation Method), Ace’s mental strength rose at an astonishing speed. In just half a year, his mental strength rose from 50 units to 80 units.

80 units seemed to be the second watershed for Level 1 Life. The rapidly advancing mental strength growth rate began to halve.

Even so, according to this trend, his mental strength would likely break through 100 units within a year or two. Ace predicted that would be a brand-new domain.

Another benefit of the increase in mental scale was the significant improvement in the mental scale of the projection clone. As Ace’s mental scale exceeded 80, his clone naturally improved as well. The clone, which originally had only 1/10th of the main body’s strength, now improved to 1/8th of the main body’s strength, with a mental strength reaching 10 units.

Because of the convergence of the True Spirit, in the state of beholding the True Spirit, the clone had no promotion obstacles and directly became a Level 1 Life. In other words, Ace’s three clones now all had the strength of the weakest 1-Ring Wizard.

With a Shadow of the True Spirit, a projection clone could be generated instantly. The clone spirit body was a replica of his own soul. Ace consumed 1/4 of his Mental Power to create a clone spirit body with a mental scale of 10 unit, and then cast the Shadow of the True Spirit into it.

The moment the Shadow of the True Spirit entered, the form of the spirit body began to change. A few minutes later, the clone’s Soul Sanctuary had formed. Ace controlled his True Spirit and manipulated his own Soul Sanctuary, the True-Illusion Dream world.

The True-Illusion Dream world resonated with the clone spirit body’s Soul Sanctuary. The True Spirit resonated with the Shadow of the True Spirit. A wonderful thing happened: the True-Illusion Dream world was projected into the Soul Sanctuary. According to Ace’s will, Ace’s True-Illusion Dream world was replicated, and a 1-Ring dream world appeared in the spirit body’s sanctuary space.

Ace sacrificed the preserved flesh and blood of three Heroes to create a Level 1 Life body for the clone. After everything was ready, Ace began the experiment.

Using the 2-Ring Spell Undead Transformation Spell, he created a negative energy environment that slowly corroded the clone’s body and soul. In the resonance state, Ace clearly felt the transformation process.

“The body is slowly weakening. The perception ability of the soul is blurring bit by bit. The surrounding scene is constantly shaking, seemingly reaching some extreme point. The Soul Sanctuary also shows a tendency to collapse.”
