Chapter 285: Protection

The gray cat shed silent tears. Under extreme sorrow, the surrounding Mana scrambled to gather around him, adhering to his Mental Power and being assimilated by his Inherent Mana. His Mental Power was climbing rapidly, and the gray cat Witte felt as if he was floating out of his body.

He seemed to see a tear streak across, merging into the small conch shell. In an instant, he had a realization: that conch shell carried all of Misha’s longing.

Uncontrollably falling, the grieving Witte plunged into endless darkness. After an unknown amount of time, he drifted to a bright place, as if entering another world.

“Soul Sanctuary!”

Witte gradually understood in his heart that he had advanced to become an Advanced Wizard Apprentice. If Mr. Turtledove knew, perhaps he would be happy?

Mr. Turtledove!

Witte snapped back to reality. He had no time for sorrow. Those lost were gone, but Mr. Turtledove might not be dead yet. He had to find a way to save him.

Witte opened his eyes. Misha’s corpse dispersed like the wind, leaving only a small conch shell that fell to the ground with a crisp sound.

He picked up the small conch shell in his mouth and ran in the direction Mr. Turtledove had fled.

While running, he communicated with his Soul Sanctuary, nervously replicating the Runes he had just prepared. This was a magical combination he had discovered using the public materials from the magic salon.

These four different toxins, when mixed in a certain proportion, would form a temporary balance. The poisoned person would not feel any abnormality but would instead feel energetic.

However, as time passed, the magical toxins would penetrate deep into the bone marrow. At this point, simply altering the proportional balance of the four toxins slightly would instantly trigger an outbreak of a fatal composite toxin. Depending on the proportions, the results would vary. It was a silent and very tricky spell.

Death #4, Toxin #1, Toxin #2, Toxin #5, Toxin #11, Dispersion #4. Area Curse Spell: Delayed Plague Poison Cloud.

This was a spell that could allow the weak to defeat the strong, invisibly eliminating enemies.

Witte was indeed a genius, at least a genius in toxins. He had always been interested in the toxin series of Runes, but had only come into contact with Lesser Toxin Runes. Unexpectedly, with just one night at the magic salon and a dream, he created such a potent Plague Poison Cloud.

Perhaps for talented people, it was just that simple.

Besides this original spell, Witte also combined Wither #3, invented by Caruso, with Death #3 and Direct Shot #4 to create a slightly innovative 0-Ring Spell: Wither Ray.

It could fire a Negative Energy ray that destroyed a person’s life force. This ray would cause double damage, directly hurting the enemy and indirectly weakening their life force.

It would cause the enemy’s body to weaken continuously while being injured. If combined with the Plague Poison Cloud, the effects would stack.

Witte was anxious. Mr. Turtledove was the only person close to him left. He didn’t want to lose him too.

The more anxious he was, the more Witte knew he had to be calm. Only by calming down could he possibly fight for a sliver of victory.

Witte moved vigilantly in the pitch black. Using Lesser Ultrasound Perception to observe his surroundings, he quickly locked onto the direction. Mr. Turtledove had lost his flying carpet and was being chased by seven or eight Punishers.

Witte activated the 0-Ring Spell Plague Poison Cloud, spreading the toxic cloud into the nearby air, while keeping himself away from it.

Activating the Spell Model, a Wither Ray hit an enemy chasing Turtledove.

That Punisher spat out a mouthful of blood heavily. He felt cold all over, his body became sluggish, and he felt as if he had been hit by a heavy blow.

“The Desecrator has an accomplice! Everyone be vigilant!”

Hiding in the ruins, Turtledove discovered Witte using Lesser Insight Perception and cursed loudly, “I told you to run! Why did you come back to die?”

Witte didn’t make a sound. He continued casting Wither Rays and cast Bouncing Legs on himself, nimbly dodging enemy pursuit while occasionally turning back to counterattack.

He soon ran near Turtledove, dragging Mr. Turtledove towards the poison cloud.

“I set up a Plague Poison Cloud ambush on the east side. I will manipulate the poison cloud to avoid us then. Follow me. If you get caught in the poison cloud, I don’t have a detoxification spell.”

Mr. Turtledove was confused. While running, he asked, “Is this a Lesser Spell you invented? There are several Pseudo-Heroes on the other side. We can’t handle them. Hurry up and split up to escape!”

“This is a 0-Ring Spell. We can handle it!”

Witte whispered.

“No matter how many rings, it won’t work… What? You said 0-Ring? F*ck, you advanced to Advanced Apprentice?”

Mr. Turtledove replied in astonishment. A cold arrow hit his arm from behind, causing him to grimace in pain.

Witte nodded and whispered, “Focus on running, Senior!”

Wither Ray was an excellent support spell for escaping. Whoever got close to them, Witte would throw a Wither Ray at them. Besides taking damage, the opponent’s movements would also become sluggish.

Soon, Witte lured them to the predetermined ambush point within the ruins. The colorless and odorless poison cloud was spreading. Witte activated his Spell Model, adjusting and controlling the poison cloud.

Seven Pseudo-Hero Punishers chased them in. Unknowingly, toxins accumulated in their bodies. Coupled with the weakening of their life force by the Wither Rays, they gradually sensed something abnormal.

Witte suddenly activated the entire poison cloud. The accumulated toxins erupted instantly, and the seven Pseudo-Heroes died in an instant.

Mr. Turtledove looked at everything before him in disbelief, murmuring softly.

“Natural Mental Overdrive user… Talent… I’ve lived my life in vain…”

Just then, a fierce battle seemed to occur in mid-air. A semi-circular Guardian Shield suddenly opened, and a six-pointed star pattern also appeared in the sky.

“There seems to be a complex Spell Model. Someone who can use three-dimensional spells… Could it be Lord Ace?”

Witte murmured.

“Doesn’t matter who it is, let’s run quickly.”

Turtledove woke up from his daze, pulling Witte to flee rapidly. Just then, Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Life, and Death appeared in the six-pointed star pattern in the sky, turning into a Six-Element Ring that charged directly at the Guardian Shield.

The Guardian Shield expanded suddenly, actually wrapping the Six-Element Ring inside. Crows cawed, and the Six-Element Ring exploded within it. Ace vanished without a trace.

Above the sky, Karim was furious. The “Dark Raven Devil” had escaped from his hands once again and had become stronger. He looked down and saw Mr. Turtledove and Witte fleeing. With a casual punch, a small energy round shield flew towards the two.

Karim didn’t look down again. They were just small characters, dealt with in passing. The key was still pursuing the “Dark Raven Devil.” His eyes burst with intense light as he scanned everywhere, chasing after Ace.

On the ground, Turtledove looked up at the whistling energy round shield. He pushed Witte away forcefully. His head was sliced off by the energy round shield, rolling away. The headless corpse fell to its knees.

Witte had no time to react. Everything was too sudden. Just a second ago, he was pulling Mr. Turtledove, and the two had just easily dealt with seven pursuers by exploiting their ignorance.

Why? Why did it turn out like this?

Is it because my power is still too weak?

Is that why I can’t protect anything?
