Chapter 343: This is the Holy Light
At the southernmost tip of the Larr Mountains, Mt. Baal.
Ancestar had successfully rendezvoused with Donna and the other Advanced Knight Squires, guided by their Grimoires. Riding the fastest-moving Winged Swiftwind Horses, they patrolled at low altitude, maintaining high alert.
The Winged Swiftwind Horse Ancestar rode was an Intermediate Monster. It was the only mount-type Intermediate Monster bred in the High Tower Territory, originally a gift Ollie had prepared for Arno.
Concerned for Ancestar’s safety, Arno had given it to him not long ago.
Just as they had done for the past few days, they patrolled the border between the Larr Mountains and the Abyssal Projection. Having just ventured over 10 km into the Abyssal Projection, they suddenly heard a clamor ahead. Little Demons swarmed the mountains and plains, running and howling.
A phrase flashed through Ancestar’s mind: Once they number ten thousand, they cover the mountains and plains.
Thirty bat-winged Demons flew in the sky, making Ancestar’s head buzz. Too many. This is absolutely abnormal!
Ancestar immediately calmed himself. His Grimoire floated beside him. As his right hand pressed on the last page, a magic signal was instantly sent to the High Tower Territory.
“Abyssal Projection demons are moving strangely. Over ten thousand Little Demons and thirty Demons discovered! Speculate that the Great Demon Alex is very likely to appear as well. The situation is extremely critical.”
After sending the warning, Ancestar said to Donna and the others, “Retreat to Mt. Baal first. I will stay here to monitor the demons’ movements.”
“I want to stay with you, Lord Ancestar,” Donna said stubbornly.
“Donna!” Ancestar’s expression turned stern. Usually melancholic and gentle, he rarely raised his voice, but now he scolded sharply, “This is no time for tantrums. Even a moment’s hesitation could mean death for all of us. Go back immediately.”
Tears instantly welled up in Donna’s beautiful eyes. She replied, sobbing slightly, “Alright. I’ll wait for you at Mt. Baal. You must come back safely!”
Watching Donna and the others leave, the gravity on Ancestar’s face eased slightly. He knew Lord Ace’s orders: when facing an unbeatable enemy, retreat while fighting.
But the current situation was likely beyond just “unbeatable.” Even if he charged and killed three demons alone, he would probably be surrounded by the remaining ones. Moreover, once the Great Demon Alex appeared, no one would be able to escape.
“What should I do?”
Ancestar hesitated. He could shout, “This enemy is worth fighting!” and launch a fearless charge. He didn’t fear death, but if his death couldn’t effectively delay the enemy, it would be meaningless.
In the council hall on the top floor of the High Tower, only Daina, Ollie, and Arno were present.
“We must report to Lord Ace immediately. Lord Ancestar won’t last long,” Daina said the moment she received the message, instantly forwarding the intelligence to Ace.
However, Ace had just crossed the Larr Mountains following Karim’s group, arriving at the northwestern part of the Larr Mountains on the West Coast of Salia—an area not covered by the magic signal.
After waiting for a while without a reply from Ace, Arno looked anxious. He said, “I must support the Melancholy Uncle. He can’t possibly handle so many demons alone!”
Ollie, seeing Arno already preparing to lead his horse and fly off, shouted loudly, “Brother Arno, I’ll go with you to support him.”
Arno had already taken flight. He waved his hand in the air and sped southward.
Ollie immediately moved to mount a Winged Gale Horse to follow, but Daina stopped her.
“Lady Daina, I must go support them. Even the two of them will struggle to stop so many enemies!” Ollie said with anxiety and displeasure.
Daina shook her head. “I’m not stopping you. With Lord Ace away, I must stay here to command the various magic traps; I can’t leave. 25 km south of the territory, we have already laid several large-scale magic traps. Let me familiarize you with them. Also, there’s a batch of refined spellcasting materials and Demonified Explosives made by Lord Ace in the warehouse. Take them with you.”
Ollie apologized, feeling anxious and embarrassed. She then quickly familiarized herself with the locations, effects, and activation methods of the magic traps with Daina.
Ancestar hovered in the sky far away. He was soon noticed by the demons. Three winged demons flew toward him, cursing in Abyssal.
Ancestar was not alarmed but pleased. It was hard to attack the demons when they were clustered together, but if they actively chased him, the situation changed.
To prevent the demons from turning back, Ancestar controlled his speed, flying just slightly slower than them, fleeing in a “wretched” manner.
He consciously adjusted the distance, gradually baiting the three demons far away from the main demon army.
Not far from Mt. Baal, Donna and the others were waiting anxiously. Suddenly, they saw Ancestar being chased. One by one, they mounted their horses and flew into the sky.
Ancestar suddenly executed a turning acceleration, shaking off the three demons and regrouping with the Knight Squires. He shouted, “Knights, form up! Charge! These enemies are worth fighting!”
They formed a wedge formation, with Ancestar as the sharpest point at the front, charging first toward the three demons. A strange rhythm echoed among them.
It was the Knight’s unique collective skill created by Ancestar, inspired by the Magic Net and relying on the Knight’s Heart of Virtue—Knight Order Charge!
Their Hearts of Virtue lit up in turn. Compassion led the way like a sharp blade, while Humility, Honesty, Sacrifice, Honor, and other virtues converged, forming a terrifying torrent of human virtues. Like an unstoppable steel blade, they charged at the enemy like a whirlwind.
Charging head-on, the demons actually began to lose ground. Ancestar didn’t fight them to a standstill but used mobility to cut back and forth, charging repeatedly. After about a dozen passes, the demons were literally charged to death, leaving Ancestar and the others astonished.
“The demons don’t seem that tough?”
“Why do they feel a bit fake?”
“What is going on?”
Everyone was confused for a moment, but Ancestar showed a thoughtful expression. He seemed to have realized something.
“I’ll go lure a few more demons to test it. Everyone, get ready!”
With that, Ancestar mounted his horse and charged, speeding toward the main demon army.
Before long, Ancestar lured back seven or eight chaotic, enraged Shadow Demons and over a hundred Little Demons. The demons seemed infuriated, cursing him in vicious Abyssal as they chased him.
Donna and the other Advanced Knight Squires quickly regrouped with Ancestar, forming the wedge formation again. Their Hearts of Virtue resonated and linked. Several Hearts of Virtue combined to form a Knight Order resembling Holy Light, charging toward the demons with unstoppable momentum.
Continuous impacts quickly scattered the demons. Then, targeting one demon at a time with repeated charges, they killed one in no time.
“This is the Holy Light!”
Ancestar roared.
