Chapter 356: Knight's Charge
Arno looked at Ollie, opening his mouth to shout loudly, but the wind rushed into his mouth, silencing his voice completely. Arno reached out weakly, trying to grab Ollie, but she drifted further and further away.
Ollie maintained her semi-elementalized state. Her moon-white magic robe fluttered, its edges dissolving into wind elements. She gave Arno a sweet smile, then turned around, her gaze sharp and determined. Swaying like a noble goddess, she charged toward the approaching Alex with resolve.
The gale howled, swirling as it blew toward Alex. The runes within Ollie’s Soul Sanctuary were highly active. With her mana nearly exhausted, she frantically burned her own life force, transforming her entire being into an irresistible wind element that entangled the shadowified Alex.
Restrained by the wind-elementalized Ollie, Alex couldn’t break free for a moment. Utilizing the similar characteristics of shadowification and elementalization, he attacked Ollie directly with shadows, instantly leaving her critically injured and on the brink of death.
Just then, the cry of a wild goose resounded through the clouds. An azure Light Wild Goose descended from the sky, accompanied by the thump, thump, thump of a Knight’s heartbeat, sounding like a march for a charge.
The azure Light Wild Goose acted like a warrior defying death. Using the unique attribute of the Compassion Holy Light, it separated the wind from the shadow, guiding Ollie into the embrace of the Light Wild Goose.
Pfft!
Ancestar spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. His body seemed unable to bear the strain. The heart formed from sacrifice tried hard to beat, but his strength was falling short of his will.
“I must hold on. Hold on a little longer!”
Ancestar seemed to see Donna’s figure fading away into blood-red light, and then the groups of Knights charging on horseback. His eyes revealed determination. The spots of blood-red on his chest looked like a lover’s kiss marks, and suddenly, blood-red Holy Light rose from them.
The blood-red light entwined with the azure, painting a layer of blood-colored plumage onto the wild goose. One Knight’s heart now carried two spirits of Holy Light: Compassion and Sacrifice!
Arno looked at the Light Wild Goose formed by Ancestar with a mix of surprise and worry. He was pleasantly surprised that Ancestar had also reached the Grand Knight realm, but worried that Ancestar still couldn’t match Alex.
The wind, gentle as a lover, had already carried Arno near Mt. Baal. Bursts of whispers lingered in the air, making Arno feel dizzy. He circulated his Heart Power to protect his head, shielding himself from the intrusion of the whispers.
Arno didn’t have time to think about why there were whispers near Mt. Baal, nor did he notice the increasingly eerie environment around him. His mind was completely focused on the Light Wild Goose opposite him; his lover and his teacher were both there.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the Larr Mountains, the brilliant starry sky gradually dissipated, and the layered mountain ranges reappeared. Ace, dressed in a black magic robe with a black wizard hat and a 3-Ring Hexagram Badge on his chest, hovered in mid-air.
The Six-Element Ring appeared behind him. Earth, fire, wind, and water circulated; life and death intertwined. Dazzling rune structures of the Eye of Truth (Pseudo) emerged in his eyes. His aura was restrained, yet no one dared to approach him lightly.
Inside his Mental Imagery World, the lake of pure star mana, refined by Heart Fire, was already overflowing. The entire lake rippled with starlight, emitting a charming rhythm of magic power.
The dozen or so Advanced Knight Squires were resting in the lakeside villa, reporting intelligence to Aleias.
“That’s the general situation. Lord Arno has already gone in pursuit. Optimistically speaking, perhaps the Great Demon has already been executed!”
Xavier had inexplicable confidence in Arno and spoke very optimistically.
Aleias didn’t answer. She bowed to them and said, “Lord Ace bids you to rest here. This is Lord Ace’s kingdom; you can be assured of your safety. But please do not leave the villa.”
Xavier and the others did relax a lot. They were mostly astonished by Ace’s power. A super-large space capable of carrying life carried on one’s person was simply unheard of.
Even among the Legendary Heroes of the Divine Descendants, not everyone could open up a Noble Phantasm space.
Ace had understood the intelligence. He opened a Portal casually and instantly appeared one kilometer away. Runes flickered in his eyes as he looked at the terrifying anomaly rising almost into the sky at Mt. Baal. Listening to the whispers in his ears, his brow furrowed tightly.
“I’m afraid there are still unexpected factors. The identity of the black shadow that appeared in the first playthrough is still unknown. I must get there as soon as possible.”
Near Mt. Baal, Arno forcibly activated his own power. His heart beat powerfully, and wisps of vitality were burned directly, transforming into Holy Light.
Roar!
The Winged Lion of Light reappeared.
Alex, wrapped entirely in shadows, gradually transformed into a super-massive Shadow High Demon, nearly a hundred meters tall.
The Wild Goose formed by Ancestar’s Holy Light and the Lion formed by Arno’s Holy Light both appeared tiny in front of the massive High Demon. Alex stepped on the Lion with one foot and grabbed the Wild Goose with a claw.
“None of you can escape. Power that targets the Abyss so specifically… I cannot give you the chance to grow. Welcome the judgment of death!”
Boom!
The Lion and the Wild Goose collided. Boundless shadows descended, instantly shattering the Lion and Wild Goose formed of Holy Light. Arno caught the critically injured and dying Ollie, using his remaining strength to try and prolong her life.
“Arno, listen.”
Ancestar radiated azure light. His hair withered and turned white rapidly, his handsome face became aged, but the Holy Light became even more dazzling.
“We must make a choice. Someone always has to pay the price; someone always has to sacrifice. Ollie can’t hold on much longer. I will block Alex. Take Ollie and leave immediately!”
The blinding azure light transformed into a horse and armor. An extremely long lance appeared in Ancestar’s hand. His aged face was gradually covered by an azure knight’s helmet, leaving Arno only with the silhouette of a figure charging into the shadows.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The Knight’s heartbeat was the horn of war; it was the final charge.
“Holy Light! This enemy is worth fighting.”
Shrill shadow humanoids wailed, and the Holy Light roared. In that instant, at the border where the Northern Abyssal Projection met Mt. Baal, an extremely high mana impact erupted.
Arno gritted his teeth, feeling a deep sense of powerlessness. The warmth and softness in his arms reminded him that he had to flee immediately.
He turned his back, tears flowing uncontrollably, falling drip, drip onto Ollie’s face. Ollie opened her eyes weakly, her cold hand trembling as she stroked Arno’s chest, seeming to want to comfort him.
Her body was too weak; even such a simple movement was more than she could bear, and she coughed up a mouthful of blood heavily.
“It’ll be quick, Ollie, very quick. We’re almost at Mt. Baal. We’ll be back at the High Tower soon. Lord Ace will definitely have a way to save you.”
Ollie seemed to sense that she wasn’t going to make it. She tried to say something, but her weakness prevented her from speaking, resulting only in soft coughing sounds.
Ancestar’s body aged rapidly. His body already emitted the stench of decay. Except for that ill-fitting heart, there wasn’t a single robust part left on him.
