Chapter 393: Observations

Led by Eddie, Amid and the others rode a flying carpet for the first time, flying under the fireworks to the magic castle in the south of Nightlight City.

Although the magic castle looked heavy and solid from the outside, its exterior didn’t surprise Amid and the others much. However, when the castle gates slowly opened, everything in the castle’s main hall astonished them.

The space in the hall was so vast that it appeared nearly four or five times larger than the entire area of the castle itself. Stepping on the marble floor painted with rune arrays, Amid gazed at the oil paintings on the surrounding walls and looked up at the brilliant night sky visible through the transparent ceiling, his expression somewhat in a trance.

He said loudly to Eddie:

“Mr. Eddie, the internal space of this castle seems much vaster than its exterior. May I ask the reason?”

Eddie smiled with a touch of reserved pride and said, “Grand Scholar Amid, extremely complex Spatial Expansion Rune Arrays are arranged here. The overall space has been expanded by nearly twenty times compared to the original space.”

Tus and the others couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise. This was something they had absolutely never imagined. Although Amid maintained a calm expression, he was deeply shocked inside and whispered, “So this is magic.”

Eddie smiled politely and said, “Everyone must be starving. Let’s have a simple meal together, and then we can chat slowly.”

After speaking, Eddie clapped his hands. A group of charmingly naive Earth Elementals ran out balancing plates, saucers, and bowls on their heads, enthusiastically pulling everyone to sit at the dining table.

Fragrant roast chicken, lamb chops dripping with oil, and aromatic foie gras—in no time, the dining table was filled with delicious food. Several Earth Elementals, balancing clay jars taller than themselves on their heads, jumped onto the table and poured wine as clear as blood into the cups in front of everyone.

Amid was already famished. He had swallowed his saliva several times, but out of politeness, he was embarrassed to be the first to start.

Eddie raised his glass and said to everyone, “Today’s preparation was a bit hasty, so it’s just a simple meal. I hope you don’t mind. However, this wine is not bad. Tomorrow at noon, I will invite everyone to Logan’s Gourmet Shop on the front street to enjoy true Mmgic cuisine!”

Everyone’s stomachs were rumbling, so they didn’t mind Eddie’s modest words. Few people in the Fire Stealer Alliance knew how to cook, so today’s big meal already made them very happy.

Amid drained the wine in one gulp and picked up his knife and fork to cut a piece of lamb chop, but he suddenly stopped his movements.

Not only him, but all members of the Fire Stealer Alliance stopped their movements. The wine that had just gone down their throats turned into rich vitality, exploding on their tongues and in their stomachs. That vitality surged into their bodies, causing a significant improvement in their physical constitution.

Amid closed his eyes, seriously feeling this surge of vitality. This was a power he had never felt before; the chronic ailments of his body seemed to be healed. What kind of wine was this?

The most intoxicating part was not the taste, but the vigorous vitality contained within. This was something Amid had never experienced. At this moment, he felt a profound difference. Unlike the supernatural machinery the Fire Stealers learned from the Pre-Civilization, the path of magic seemed to be a comprehensive path.

Amid took another sip of wine, grabbed a piece of oily, browned lamb chop, and gnawed on it fiercely. The oil of the lamb chop exploded in his mouth, overflowing with fragrance, tender and delicious. Amid almost swallowed his tongue along with it. The taste was indeed excellent, especially the numbing and spicy sensation on the tip of the tongue, and that strange fragrance, which whetted Amid’s appetite even more.

Amid took a few more bites of the roast chicken leg. It was also very good, though it lacked that feeling of bursting vitality. But thinking about it, it made sense; such things should be rare items even in the High Tower Territory. Wine that could improve physical constitution was simply too precious.

Amid’s bald head shone brightly before the light orb. His face slightly flushed, he raised his glass to Eddie and said, “Thank you for the hospitality. This wine is truly too precious.”

Eddie said proudly, “This is just a simple meal. Tomorrow, I will definitely let everyone experience what magic cuisine is. The magic research of our High Tower Territory is all-encompassing, and magic cuisine is a bright pearl among them. You will know tomorrow.”

Amid felt a bit dizzy. Magic cuisine? He was really looking forward to it.

After the meal, Amid and his group were led by the chattering, naive Earth Elementals to the accommodation area on the east side of the castle. Looking at the extremely vast square in the center of the castle and the complex terrain, Amid felt a mix of envy and admiration.

In the bedroom, Amid looked at the mirror magic wall. Under the chattering guidance of the Earth Elemental, he had learned how to use it. With just a forceful push on the hexagram pattern on the magic wall, the street view outside the castle would appear, just like an extremely wide floor-to-ceiling window.

Amid took out a roll of parchment and recorded silently.

“Lord Ace led the wizards to build such a prosperous city from scratch in just over ten years, creating a complete system of magic, and even creating a magical society based on magic. It is truly admirable.

“In just one night, the corner of Nightlight City I glimpsed is already so colorful. The application of magic seems to have penetrated into every corner of people’s lives. It is truly enchanting.”

The next day, Amid and the others continued their tour of Nightlight City under Eddie’s leadership. Not only did they watch wonderful magic performances, appreciate the vigorous vitality of magic cuisine, and witness the convenience of magic penetrating into life, but they also saw a miraculous spell—”Magic Trick.”

After seeing wizard apprentices achieve many magical effects just by moving their mouths and mobilizing mana multiple times, Amid couldn’t hold back anymore. He asked Eddie, “I found that many wizard apprentices in the High Tower seem to be good at a certain kind of spell. They seem to achieve magical effects just by moving their mouths. I wonder what spell this is?”

Eddie was stunned for a moment, then realized what Amid was talking about. He replied:

“This is the Universal Spell ‘Magic Trick’. Almost all Wizard Apprentices must learn this spell. It also has advanced versions: the Advanced Spell ‘Advanced Magic Trick’, the 1-Ring Spell ‘Incantation Spell’, the 2-Ring Spell ‘Advanced Incantation Spell’, the 3-Ring Spell ‘Law of Command’, and so on. The core of this spell is to utilize the imaginative power of the Simulation Rune Group to achieve an effect similar to ‘wishes coming true’.

“This series of spells was invented by Lord Ace. Wizards in the High Tower who specialize in researching this series of spells are called the Incantation School. They advocate using one spell to simulate and evolve infinite magical changes. From this, they have derived instrumental books such as Encyclopedia of Secondary Incantations, Encyclopedia of 0-Ring Incantations, Tips on Secondary Lifestyle Incantations, Selected Secondary Production Incantations, and so on.

“In summary, due to the convenience of Incantations, almost all Wizards learn some Incantations.”

Hearing Eddie’s answer, Amid had even more questions in his mind.
