Chapter 429: Cognitive Reconstruction
The other seven Official Wizards looked at Betty, whose mana was chaotic and whose face alternated between being as sallow as gold paper and flushing red, with expressions of terror. Sulu grabbed Warren and jumped back, while Paulina stepped forward, a sealing spell model circling in her hands, seemingly wanting to interrupt Betty’s condition.
Betty’s father, Leon, was somewhat at a loss. His path’s core was Misfortune, so he didn’t dare to step forward at such a time.
“Don’t act rashly. Let me handle it.”
Ace, with a pale face, suddenly appeared among them. Dream mist spread out, instantly enveloping Betty. Ace’s eyes flickered with dreamlike colors as he whispered, “Suggestion.”
Betty’s complexion gradually balanced out. Although still as bleak as gold paper, the strange flush was gone.
Inside her Soul Sanctuary, the dream mist barely stabilized her Fire Element spell model. This couldn’t stop the collapse of the spell model, but it could slow down the process.
After doing all this, the dream mist continued to diffuse. A large amount of dream mist entered the Soul Sanctuaries of the advanced wizard apprentices present, applying a Suggestion state to them, temporarily stabilizing their belief in their own paths to prevent total collapse.
Inside Ace’s mental imagery world, the Element Ring spell model was on the verge of destruction, and the entire surface of the dream world had crumbled. However, Ace’s foundation lay in dreams. At this moment, the entire mental imagery world was like waking from a great dream—it shattered instantly.
The Element Ring spell model disappeared, but Ace did not suffer heavy injuries. His path remained vital, and the mental imagery dream world could be rebuilt at any time.
The chaotic situation in the Magic Castle hall was finally brought under control. Ace walked onto the high platform, cast the spell Mechanized Mind on everyone, and then spoke loudly using the Amplification spell:
“I am very pained that such a thing has happened, but at the same time, I am very gratified. I am pained that twenty-four advanced wizard apprentices have walked to the end of their lives just like this. I am gratified by Logan and Bayen’s major discoveries regarding the development of the microscopic world and the composition of matter.
“This discovery is a huge step in our search for truth and the reality of the world. However, it must be noted that this exploration may not be the endpoint; we might still be very far from the world’s reality.
“Bayen and Logan’s experiments have proven that the Four Elements Hypothesis is not the reality of the world. But why were we able to create a series of magic based on the Four Elements Hypothesis?”
Ace’s question resonated in everyone’s hearts. They pondered continuously. Perhaps the Four Elements Hypothesis had its rationality, or perhaps there were other factors they had neglected?
“I believe that our cognition of the world, even if it doesn’t reflect the original appearance of the world, partially reflects the truth. And this part is the source of our supernatural power; it is the reason why Four Elements Magic can be established!
“As long as you firmly believe in its applicability, magic will not fail. But if you want to obtain stronger power and get closer to the reality of the world, you must study the latest theories. Study them with a critical eye, affirm the correct parts, negate the incorrect parts, and constantly innovate. Only then can our path of magic become wider and longer!
“Now, everyone, please do not spread the content of this speech for the time being. Please sign a Confidentiality Contract with me. I need time to research why the collapse of a spell model causes the phenomenon of head explosions, and try my best to minimize the losses caused by this theory!”
Ace extended his hand. A huge golden scale appeared above everyone’s head, and six hundred contract scrolls appeared above the people present. They left their soul imprints on the scrolls, and the contracts were established.
More than six hundred contract scrolls flew into the scale and soon burned to ashes along with the scale. Everyone present felt a faint constraint preventing them from speaking about today’s speech content.
Ace collected the bodies. A total of twenty-three advanced wizard apprentices (plus Jack). This was the first time the High Tower Territory had suffered such a huge loss since its establishment, and it was actually due to a theoretical innovation. It left a mixed taste in everyone’s mouth.
Ace’s Element Ring had shattered, so he couldn’t use Frost series spells. He only had the rune structures representing Life and Death left, which turned into an entangled, unique spell model.
But this spell model was unhelpful for sealing. Ace had to use the Sealing series runes to seal all the corpses and take them back to the West Tower for research.
Although a Confidentiality Contract was signed, the requirement was only to keep Bayen and Logan’s research results secret. This terrifying event quickly spread through the High Tower.
The higher-ups of the Magic Council did not intend to stop it. Officials stepped forward to announce the accident, preparing everyone psychologically.
At Allen’s residence, his two friends—the chubby Bruce and the witch Eva, whose freckles seemed to jump on her face—arrived at his home.
“Allen, did you hear about that thing?”
Chubby Bruce started shouting loudly as soon as he entered the door.
Eva closed the door and walked quickly toward Allen.
“Did you call us over so urgently because of that matter?”
Allen nodded. During this period, he was responsible for receiving people from the Firestealer Alliance. Yesterday, he was fortunate enough to hear Bayen and Logan’s shocking research results with his own ears and witnessed the bald handsome guy Amid being splattered with blood.
Allen’s foundational path was not Elements. He had always meticulously studied Contract Magic, and his core spell model was also a contract-related spell model. Therefore, the impact of this cognitive collapse on him was minimal. He said seriously to the two:
“The times have changed. I cannot tell you the detailed results because of the Confidentiality Contract, but I can tell you it is research regarding elements—subversive results, destructive reconstruction. I called you here because you use Fire Element and Earth Element as your core spell models respectively. I hope you are mentally prepared!
“If necessary, you can dissolve your own spell models first to avoid the head-exploding incident.”
Chubby Bruce’s face was somewhat pale. People always felt fear towards unknown things, especially things closely related to themselves. He plopped down on the sofa in the living room, his whole body sinking into it, and exhaled a long breath, saying, “You mean all advanced wizard apprentices based on the Four Elements Hypothesis are at risk of their heads exploding?”
The freckles on Eva’s face also seemed dim, appearing to droop along with her low mood.
Allen said seriously: “Currently, the Four Elements Hypothesis is facing a major crisis. The theory currently proposed is not yet sufficient to prove that the Four Elements Hypothesis is completely wrong, but it has already negated its foundation. There may be more research and experiments subsequently to negate the Four Elements Hypothesis.
“Lord Ace said that even a theory with fallacies can allow us to obtain supernatural power and even allow us to go further. But if we want to get closer to the reality of the world, if we want to obtain stronger power, we must learn the new theory, understand the new theory, and use the new theory to construct our thinking and reconstruct our spell models!”
