Chapter 437: The Answer
Bayen’s body began to wither rapidly. When the soul is far stronger than the body, this imbalance can crush the flesh, but it is also an opportunity for the body to break through its limits.
Ace did not hesitate and maximized the output of vitality power. The Level 2 Vitality Essence shrank at a speed visible to the naked eye. Bayen’s body also stopped withering, gradually becoming filled with vitality and appearing younger.
Mental imagery world, soul, and body—all three reached the Level 2 state. Bayen opened his eyes, and a brilliant light burst from them, illuminating the entire ritual room as bright as day.
Ace smiled and said to Bayen, “Congratulations, you have successfully advanced to Level 2 Life.”
Bayen stood up, closed his eyes to retract the leaking power into his body, opened his shining eyes, and said, “Thank you, Lord Ace.”
Ace nodded and winked at Logan.
Logan immediately handed a Level 2 Vitality Essence, about the size of his hat, to Ace and walked straight to the center of the magic circle.
Half an hour later, Logan also successfully advanced to Level 2 Life.
In the reception room on the first floor of the West Tower, after the three sat down on the sofa, Betty also arrived upon Ace’s notification. Ace said happily:
“Now the strength of our High Tower has expanded dramatically. We already have six Level 2 Lives. This is a matter for celebration. A major advantage of the wizard’s path is that at the Level 2 stage, one can possess a mental imagery world in advance. Your foundational spell models are directly related to the cognitive expression of the mental imagery world.”
Bayen and Logan leaned forward, listening seriously to Ace’s words. Betty sat on her mechanical disc, thinking earnestly.
Ace’s expression gradually became solemn, and he said seriously, “We have discovered for the first time that theoretical innovation in magic can have such great lethality! Even your new theory cannot be guaranteed to be correct. I have always emphasized that there is no absolute truth, only relative truth within our cognitive range.
“But precisely because of this, when our cognitive range expands, former truths become fallacies. The spell models we rely on as foundations will turn into unstable bombs, blowing us to smithereens.”
Betty, Bayen, and Logan also felt fearful. Although they were the founders of the Phlogiston Theory and currently believed in its reliability, the future was unknown.
Logan said in a somewhat hoarse voice, “Lord Ace, how do you think we can avoid being blown to smithereens when relative truths become fallacies due to the expansion of cognitive range?”
Ace stood up, paced a few circles, looked at the three, and said, “I have an idea: divide the mental imagery world into layers, creating a Real Layer Mental Imagery World and a Virtual Layer Mental Imagery World.”
Betty asked slowly, somewhat puzzled, “Real Layer and Virtual Layer?”
Ace did not answer directly but led the three to the top floor of the West Tower, the hub of the High Tower Magic Net system, where the dream crystal ball “Fantasia City” was located.
Ace stroked the dream crystal ball, in which countless tiny rune structures flickered: “The so-called Real Layer is your true mental imagery world, and the so-called Virtual Layer is just like the ‘Fantasia City’ of our Magic Net.
“My suggestion is that everyone creates a virtual mental imagery world and overlays it, then roots their foundational spell models within the virtual mental imagery world.”
Ace’s words were so plain, yet they exploded like thunder in the ears of Betty, Logan, and Bayen. Bayen subconsciously tugged at his short beard, grimacing in pain.
Betty, who reacted the fastest, immediately said, “Since the dream crystal ball can gather the dream fragments and spiritual imprints of all wizards to carry a non-existent ‘Fantasia City,’ then our mental imagery worlds can also serve as carriers to bear an illusory mental imagery world.”
She pursed her lips and subconsciously sank her mind into her own mental imagery world. A scorching rising sun hung high in the center, and below was a sea of burning flames. Between the sea of flames and the rising sun, countless mimicry machines floated.
“If we want to root these in illusion, we must first disintegrate them. I’m afraid this will be a big trouble.”
Ace looked at the three and said, “Betty’s mental imagery world already consolidated the path at the moment of advancement. If you want to create an illusory mental imagery world, it is indeed a very tricky matter.
“This is a safety valve. If you possess it, your strength will actually be limited to a certain extent, but at the same time, you will avoid being crushed into the dregs of the era by new theories one day in the future.”
Bayen and Logan did not hesitate. Their Level 2 spell models had not yet been constructed. Even if they lost some strength, putting a real safety valve on themselves to isolate themselves from danger was worth it.
Betty frowned. Her mental imagery world had already merged with her foundational path spell model. It would be very troublesome to disintegrate it now.
Bayen bowed his head and asked Ace, “Lord Ace, how specifically do we operate? Do we all have to learn Dream Magic? To be honest, I am not very good at this aspect.”
Ace smiled slightly. He naturally had ideas, but that was his foundational path, and it was inconvenient to say it explicitly. If all wizards followed the Dream Path like him, there would probably be too many competitors.
Another method could effectively solve this problem without using Dream Magic and without conflicting with Ace’s path.
“It is not realistic for everyone to practice Dream Magic because everyone has different strengths. Just because I am good at Dream Magic doesn’t mean you will be too. The input and output are not proportional. If everyone is forced to practice Dream Magic, it will inevitably consume a large amount of energy and resources.”
Logan scratched his ears and cheeks. The thin, small man looked like an old monkey. His somewhat turbid eyes stared at Ace as he thought subconsciously.
“Indeed. The cost of researching a new field from scratch is enormous. what kind of method can skip this process and achieve a reasonable safety valve?”
Betty was also thinking. If they didn’t use Dream Magic, the time and energy consumed would indeed be much less for them. The only problem was how to achieve it.
Looking at Ace’s mysterious smile, Betty said with a pleading tone, “Lord Ace, I really can’t imagine it. Please enlighten us.”
Ace inspired them with a balanced and peaceful tone: “Betty, does the disc under your feet greatly improve your power?”
Betty nodded in confusion, unclear what the relationship was between the disc and the mental imagery world safety valve.
Logan and Bayen also stared at Betty. Betty was petite and looked very beautiful wearing crystal-colored high heels, but the two old men were not interested in that. They stared intently at the silver mechanical disc under Betty’s feet, thinking constantly.
Bayen whispered: “Mechanical disc, conceptually belongs to machinery. Machinery conceptually belongs to… that is to say…”
A brilliant light burst from his eyes; he seemed to have seen the answer!
