Chapter 592: New Tenth Ring Spell Model

Inside Thales’s Wizard Tower, Thales suddenly felt a palpitation, as if something major was about to happen. Slight ripples appeared in his mental imagery world constructed of electromagnetism.

“What’s going on? Is this a premonition?”

Thales looked at the sky and muttered softly.

Blania suddenly appeared, hugged Thales tightly, and said gently, “Don’t worry, I will always be with you.”

On the top floor of the Central High Tower, Ace was still tensing His whole body, writing earnestly.

“As everyone knows, when Thalesian electrodynamics—as it is usually understood today—is applied to moving bodies, it leads to asymmetries which do not appear to be inherent in the phenomena.

“Take, for example, the reciprocal electrodynamic action of a magnet and a conductor.

“The observable phenomenon here depends only on the relative motion of the conductor and the magnet, whereas the customary view draws a sharp distinction between the two cases in which either the one or the other of these bodies is in motion.

“For if the magnet is in motion and the conductor at rest, there arises in the neighborhood of the magnet an electric field with a certain definite energy, producing a current at the places where parts of the conductor are situated.

“But if the magnet is stationary and the conductor in motion, no electric field arises in the neighborhood of the magnet. In the conductor, however, we find an electromotive force, to which in itself there is no corresponding energy, but which gives rise—assuming equality of relative motion in the two cases discussed—to electric currents of the same path and intensity as those produced by the electric forces in the former case.

“Examples of this sort, together with the unsuccessful attempts to discover any motion of the earth core relatively to the ‘Aether’, suggest that the phenomena of electrodynamics as well as of mechanics possess no properties corresponding to the idea of absolute rest.

“They suggest rather that, as has already been shown to the first order of small quantities, the same laws of electrodynamics and optics will be valid for all frames of reference for which the equations of mechanics hold good.

“We will raise this conjecture (the purport of which will hereafter be called the ‘Principle of Relativity’) to the status of a postulate, and also introduce another postulate, which is only apparently irreconcilable with the former:

“That light is always propagated in empty space with a definite velocity c which is independent of the state of motion of the emitting body.”

Under the illumination of the controllable orb of light’s bright radiance, a ray of brilliance seemed to have pierced through the dark clouds. The Kaya Great Source was continuously cheering, seemingly celebrating something.

The wizards of the Supreme Council all felt the anomaly and made their way to the base of the Central High Tower one after another.

“This feeling is extremely similar to when Magical Mechanics was born, but even more grandiose.”

Bayen stroked his long white beard and said with anticipation and apprehension.

“Without a doubt, Lord Ace has made an astonishing discovery in magical theory, I just don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing.”

The Lich Witte also walked over, his hollow voice sounding out.

Thales felt his heart pounding; he was very uneasy and inexplicably manic.

This reminded him of a legend circulating among Legendary Wizards: upon reaching Level 3, there would be a certain degree of danger premonition.

“Could the danger be coming from the Central High Tower, from the new theory? Is there a problem with my electromagnetism?”

Thinking of Aether, Thales felt somewhat bitter for a moment.

More and more wizards gathered, as if waiting for salvation, or waiting for judgment to descend.

“These two basic hypotheses—or postulates—I call the Principle of Relativity and the Principle of the Constancy of the Speed of Light.

“The Principle of Relativity: that is, all physical laws are valid in all inertial frames of reference, and conform to the Blania Transformation.

“The Principle of the Constancy of the Speed of Light: that is, the speed of light is constant for all inertial frames of reference.

“These two postulates suffice for the attainment of a simple and consistent theory of the electrodynamics of moving bodies based on the Thales-Blania theory for stationary bodies.

“The introduction of a ‘luminiferous Aether’ will prove to be superfluous inasmuch as the view here to be developed will not require an ‘absolutely stationary space’ provided with special properties, nor assign a velocity-vector to a point of the empty space in which electromagnetic processes take place.

“The theory to be developed here is based—like all electrodynamics—on the kinematics of the rigid body.

“Since the assertions of any such theory have to do with the relationships between rigid bodies (systems of coordinates), clocks, and electromagnetic processes. Insufficient consideration of this circumstance lies at the root of the difficulties which the electrodynamics of moving bodies currently must overcome.”

The text flowed like spilled quicksilver, like the majestic prelude of a symphony. The lightning and thunder outside the alternate dimension grew even more intense. Bizarre rule-level runes were generated from nothingness one by one, lingering around the Central High Tower.

The spectating wizards were already intoxicated. Thoth’s Mythical Wizard clone walked out from the crowd, carefully perceiving these wondrous rule-level runes.

“Without a doubt, they are Level 5 runes, and exceptionally exquisite. But observing these runes, there seems to be a very wondrous, very familiar feeling. Could it be…?”

Thoth muttered to Himself, trying hard to recall the feeling.

“This feeling… it seems to be the feeling of entering the Divine Secret Realm. Not exactly the same, but very similar. What mysterious theory has Ace discovered? Could it be related to the Divine Secret Realm?”

A mysterious rhythm began to diffuse from the Central High Tower. Incomprehensible runes appeared and disappeared one after another. Attentive wizards had already begun attempting to memorize those fleeting runes. Although the vast majority couldn’t fully understand them, even recording some traces would be extremely beneficial to them.

A faint symphony seemed to sound, astonishing the wizards.

“This is the music of the Great Source. The dense power of the Great Source is extremely active here, following Ace’s paper to perform a symphony of Source Power and mana.”

Thoth’s Mythical Wizard projection said with absolute certainty.

His eyes carried a strange brilliance, seemingly anticipating something. This was a broad and open road. Compared to Magical Mechanics and Electromagnetism, this new theory seemed to have a much brighter future.

Suddenly, Ace’s room burst with dazzling brilliance. Everyone present couldn’t help but close their eyes. When they opened them again, the sky outside the alternate dimension had already cleared. Moonlight spilled down, cold and serene.

Ace stood outside the Central High Tower, clutching that roll of magic parchment in His hand, slowly descending.

The rule-level runes lingering in birth and destruction throughout the alternate dimension seemed to have found their master, scrambling to surge into the center of Ace’s brow and sinking into His mental imagery world.

Ace closed His eyes, sinking His mind into the mental imagery world. His true spirit merged with His mind, and He opened His eyes within the mental imagery world.

This was a brilliant sea of rule runes. The runes that had just surged in were jubilant and leaping. Under Ace’s direction, they combined with the natural spell models fed back by the Great Source. The first spell model and the second spell model had already appeared.

“The Ninth Ring spell ‘Four-Dimensional Door’ can stably open a dimensional door leading to four-dimensional space—an ascension door. This spell not only opens a four-dimensional door, but also upgrades a three-dimensional existence into a four-dimensional existence, though the state cannot be maintained for long.”

Ace quickly sensed the significance of this spell model. His paper only proposed and mathematically deduced the most basic corollaries; it did not write out all other possible corollaries. Based on the current paper, in this state where His mind was immersed and resonated with the Great Source, two spell models appeared.

“The second spell model is a Tenth Ring spell: ‘Construct Four-Dimensional Space’?”

Ace’s pupils contracted slightly. Of these two spells, the first one was somewhat expected. Although it was a Ninth Ring spell, Ace could feel the terrifying aspect of this Ninth Ring spell: stably opening a dimensional door!

In other words, it was very likely that under this Godfall Storm where high-dimensional energy was diffusing, He could open a dimensional door. Coupled with the assistance of that door in His sub-plane, the feasibility should be extremely high.

“It’s not very convenient to experiment right now. It seems I need to return to the sub-plane to test it out. If I truly can stably open a dimensional door, then I will possess an excellent trump card under the Godfall Storm.

“As for constructing four-dimensional space?

“This spell is also worth researching properly. Currently, it’s just a phantom spell model; it seems I need to find more rule-level runes to supplement it. Wait a minute!”

Ace suddenly discovered that within His sea of rule runes, the runes related to the domains of time and space suddenly began to mutate. In a short time, they transformed into miraculous rule runes, filling into His spell model.

“Four-dimensional… space-time… is it?”

Ace’s mind broke away from the mental imagery world, and He opened His eyes. The wizards facing Him were looking at Him with complex eyes: expectation, unease, apprehension, fear, and so on.

They expected the brand-new theory to bring stronger power.

They feared the brand-new theory, because that meant subversion and destruction.

All the wizards bowed and greeted Ace, as if waiting for the final judgment.

Bayen emboldened himself and asked: “Lord Ace, can You share Your latest theoretical research results with us?”

Ace looked at Bayen. Although he looked calm, his unconsciously trembling fingers betrayed him. Even a Mythical Wizard would feel fear in the face of theoretical revolution.

Ace looked around and said in a gentle voice: “Members of the Supreme Council, come with Me. The rest of you, go back for now.”

After speaking, He turned and entered the Central High Tower. The wizards of the Supreme Council followed and filed in.

In the hall with the holographic image of the starry universe, Ace stood in front of the stage, looking down at everyone, and said seriously:

“First, I still want to emphasize a universal understanding: truth is relative, and has its applicable scope. My research results this time are a larger-scale development based on Magical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Optics, etc.

“I will now distribute the paper to everyone. I hope you will think about it and understand it earnestly, and avoid tragedy as much as possible.”

The paper was copied by Ace using magic and quickly appeared in everyone’s hands.

Thales’s heart beat faster and faster. His fingers trembled slightly as he unrolled the magic parchment. A line of text caught his eye.

“Time requires us to measure it. In other words, time is inextricably linked to signal speed. Therefore, the time measured under different inertial reference frames is different. This means it’s impossible for an absolute space-time view to exist, which consequently negates the existence of absolute rest.”

Negating absolute rest meant negating Aether. And Aether was the cornerstone of electromagnetism. This caused Thales to immediately cough up a mouthful of fresh blood.

Blania hurriedly supported him and said gently, “How about you don’t read it for now.”

Thales forced himself to hold on and said, “I have to read it sooner or later, better to read it early.”

He continued reading. When he saw the Principle of Relativity, he felt as if struck by lightning. As he slowly verified the complex mathematical calculations within, Thales’s mental imagery world gradually went from unstable to slightly collapsing.

Blania’s state wasn’t much better. Her mental imagery world was also based on the hypothetical Aether. At this moment, although Ace didn’t negate the existence of Aether, He clearly stated that the demonstration could be made without introducing Aether.

Thales’s mental imagery world continued to collapse. With Aether excluded, the entire mental imagery world was in a mess. The originally exquisite rune structures became fragmented. He tried his best to stabilize it, and finally, his head didn’t explode with a bang.

Several Legendary and Mythic Wizards whose foundation was electromagnetism suffered heavy trauma. Even Bayen’s condition wasn’t too good. Thales’s mental imagery world directly shattered and solidified, almost losing the possibility of advancing.

Ace diffused His Divine Power, beginning to consciously help everyone present. It was too difficult to cultivate a Legendary Wizard, let alone a Mythical Wizard. His new theory was intended to let wizards take a step further; if a large group died, it wouldn’t align with Ace’s interests.

Among this group of people, Thales’s state was the worst. Ace could only use gurgling Divine Power to help him stabilize his state, but could not make him recover completely. He could only try His best to help him restore his spell models. After a long while, Ace also let out a long sigh of relief.

Except for the mental imagery worlds of Thales, Blania, and Laval, which shattered and solidified, the others didn’t have major problems.

Only then did Ace say: “This paper is titled On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies, and I call this new theory Special Relativity!

“The so-called relative is just as you have seen. The key point is the relative view of space-time. With different speeds, time will also be different.

“In addition to this, there is the concept of dimensions. We live in a three-dimensional world, but on a level we cannot directly observe, there are higher dimensions, which I call four-dimensional space-time.

“Regarding this, Your Holiness Thoth might resonate somewhat.”

Hearing this, Thoth stood up, bowed, and said clearly: “I am a Mythical Wizard, and also a True God. I have entered the Divine Secret Realm three times. Lord Ace’s theory gave me a very wondrous feeling. This seems to be the understanding of the Divine Secret Realm from the three-dimensional level, or rather, the Divine Secret Realm is four-dimensional space-time.”

After He sat down, the wizards burst into animated discussions. They all knew what this meant: that was the power of a higher level, the power of deities.

Ace continued: “The so-called ‘Special’ means that this theory only applies to inertial frames of reference, which is the Law of Inertia proposed in the First Law of Magical Mechanics.

“This is its scope. Special Relativity is not the overthrow of the old Magical Mechanics and Electromagnetism, but a further development. Magical Mechanics is the low-speed approximation of Special Relativity.

“If expressed mathematically, Magical Mechanics is a linear equation describing the relationships of the world, while Special Relativity is a quadratic equation.

“Undoubtedly, a quadratic equation is naturally more precise.”
