Chapter 2525: Heart Attack

"You have no reason to worry. As long as the guests break no rules, they’re free to do what they want. As long as you don’t mind them feeding you, then by letting them feed you, you’re just doing your job," said the Innkeeper, encouraging the chubby kid greatly. A flood of relief coursed through him.

Ever since he heard that the Innkeeper asked for him, he was concerned that the Innkeeper was upset he ate the entire evening buffet at the local restaurant by himself.

"The reason I called you in is because I need you to deliver a letter for me," said the Innkeeper as he tossed a letter in the air, causing the chubby worker to scramble as he tried to catch it. Of course, the Innkeeper had not actually tossed it. Rather, his spirit sense brought it to the worker to hold – he had just panicked when he saw it in the air.

"The Origin realm is closed off to anyone above the Nascent realm, so I need you to hop on over and deliver this to anyone who looks important. You don’t need to worry about anything else – the letter will reach its recipient as long as you do just that."

The chubby worker looked at the letter in his hands, feeling slightly unsure. He’d never done this before, but he’d definitely heard about it. Was it really okay to just hand deliver a letter addressed to another Dao Lord to anyone random? What about all the ceremony and build up that usually came with these things?

As he looked up at the Innkeeper, though, he found that the Innkeeper wasn’t too concerned about it.

"Yes sir! I’ll get right on it!" the chubby worker said while saluting awkwardly. It was only after he saluted that he remembered that saluting wasn’t really a thing Inn workers did, and froze out of awkwardness. Unsure about what to do, he just slowly walked out of the office while retaining the saluting pose.

The chubby worker, Calvin, breathed a heavy sigh or relief once he exited, which was promptly followed by an overwhelming urge to bury himself in the ground and never show his face again. That had to be the most awkward he’d ever been in his life. Normally, he wasn’t awkward at all, so he had no idea what had just happened.

He shook his head and looked at the harmless looking letter in his hands which read Governor Hiran Kokan. Was this really such a big deal? Did people really hold ceremonies just to escort this little thing?

He shook the letter to hear what was inside, and then gave up trying to figure out what was inside when he heard the sound of galaxies revolving in space, life appearing out of the darkness, and the sound of a baby that had just discovered sugar.

Calvin couldn’t self teleport – his ranking as a worker wasn’t high enough – and he couldn’t teleport through his own ability because, well, his cultivation was really low and he had a strange physique besides that. So, he pacewalked out of the Innkeeper’s office and hailed a golf cart.

The golf cart took him to the nearest peacock stable, where he used the privilege of being on a mission to ride one of the peacocks at priority. He’d always wanted to ride one!

The peacock took off at a speed that would have caused a sonic boom if the Inn hadn’t suppressed it, and Calvin, who was strapped along to the peacock, would have screamed in excitement if he wasn’t afraid of the wind choking him. Technically there were enchantments in place to avoid such things, but as someone who had a frail, mortal body, he’d rather not test them.

Thus, it did not take him long at all before reaching the nearest tavern connected to the Origin realm. Inside the Inn, there were only two taverns spaced out, but within the Origin realm there were near twenty.

He picked the one on a planet called Dunya since it had a very high star rating, which probably meant that it had some important people there. The Innkeeper told him to give it to someone who looked important, so that fit the bill perfectly.

Before long, he found himself outside the Midnight realm and on Dunya, which was apparently a 5 Star planet. He didn’t see the appeal – the Midnight Inn’s environment was much better, but it would be rude to point that out so he just held his breath as much as he could and walked on. He wasn’t used to the air not smelling like flowers.

"Excuse me," said Calvin as he walked up to someone who looked like he had a job similar to the Security team at the Inn. "I have a delivery from the Midnight Inn to make – could you take me to your supervisor?"

The Peak Celestial Immortal Elf looked down at the short, chubby mortal human and raised an eyebrow out of curiosity. Even in Dunya, it wasn’t common for a mere mortal to approach him.

"I’m the supervisor here," the Elf said, though that technically wasn’t true. "You can hand me whatever it is you need to deliver."

Calvin was surprised, but then smiled happily and handed over the letter. That was the easiest job he’d ever taken.

The Elf looked at the human with an odd expression before looking down at the letter.

"Gov… Governor Hiran!"

The moment he read the name the Celestial Immortal Elf, who had lived well over 12 million years, tossed the letter up in the air in fright as he became the first Celestial Elf on Dunya to ever suffer from a heart attack.

As his chest tightened, his mind panicked, and his eyesight darkened, he reached out to grab the letter. But his spirit was recoiling from reading the name of a Dao Lord out loud, which is why his coordination was off and he kept tossing the letter back in the air by accident.

A feeling of impending doom surrounded the Elf who was deeply regretting not calling his supervisor over to deal with this situation. Since when did mere mortals just walk up with items intended to be delivered to a Dao Lord?

What was the Inn thinking by sending a lone human? Even if they couldn’t send immortals, they could have settled for a procession of a few thousand mortals. How was anyone supposed to be mentally prepared if a random guy just walked up with the letter?

"Jahara, what in the name of the Holy Tree are you doing?" asked his supervisor as he walked up to him, catching the letter in the air. He wore a serious frown as he looked at the guard who had gone pale and was sweating buckets.

He tried to hiss something as he pointed to the letter, but the words wouldn’t come out. The supervisor looked at the letter and read the name.

"Governor Hi- Hiran!" the supervisor exclaimed, tossing the letter in the air as if it was radioactive, only to realize what he had done! He tried to catch it, but his body refused to listen to him.

Fortunately, before he could recreate the same scene as Jahara, a hand reached out from the void of space, grabbed the letter, and disappeared.

That day, two peak Celestial Immortals were admitted to the hospital showing symptoms of a heart attack. Even the doctors could not understand how that was possible, but the patients were in no condition to explain.
