Chapter 138: Omnipotence Core, Korlotis

Nolan looked at Ailindel’s flawless, innocent face, her lips curved in a gentle smile, and for a moment he couldn’t tell whether she was serious. Had she just joined the group and wanted to liven up the atmosphere?

“Cough!”

Seeing the crowd’s stunned expressions—clearly thinking when did you make your move?—Nolan felt a headache coming on and quickly waved his hands.

“Companion! Companion! The Moon Elves’ way of speaking is a bit different from ours. When they say ‘partner,’ they mean a comrade you can entrust your back to in battle!”

Ailindel watched his flustered reaction, a trace of mischief flashing in her eyes. She didn’t expose him, merely tilting her head slightly as she continued to smile without comment.

The moment Nolan caught that look, he nearly wanted to slam his head into a wall.

So even a Moon Elf hero of the War of Heaven could joke around.

Hank picked up his fallen cigar and stuffed it back into his mouth. He shot Nolan a glance, then looked at his daughter—who was visibly relieved—and snorted without saying anything further.

The stiffness on Anna’s face quickly faded. She gracefully lifted her quill and made a light stroke across the parchment, hiding the curve of her lips as she shot Nolan a mildly reproachful look.

Rehanna lowered her hand from her mouth and let out a long breath. Then, realizing her reaction had been a bit excessive, the tips of her ears quietly reddened.

The room quickly erupted in laughter as the awkwardness dissolved.

Vivi, however, felt unexpectedly calm. She lowered her gaze to her interlaced fingers and let out a quiet sigh.

Jealous? Of course. But she had already come to terms with it.

Someone like Nolan was like the brightest star in the night sky. She could not stop others from admiring him, from chasing after him, just as she could not restrain her own surging affection. People would inevitably gather around him—brilliant, outstanding individuals—and among them, there would certainly be women. If that was the case, then she only needed to continue as she always had, quietly admiring him, yearning for the very best version of him.

She raised her head, her gaze toward Nolan burning with warmth and resolve. She knew that in this lifetime, she was likely already lost to this man.

“Alright, alright! Back to business!” Nolan clapped his hands, forcibly drawing everyone’s attention back. If they let this continue, who knew how far off track things would go. “Kayan’s proclamation has already been sent out, and our war preparations have entered the final sprint.”

His expression sharpened, his eyes turning resolute.

“Hank, Rehanna, the Black Armored Legion’s formation drills must not stop. The special tactics I taught you—intensify the training!”

“Yes, my lord!” The two straightened immediately, responding in firm voices.

“Vivi, the scouts must stay vigilant. I want to know the moment there’s any movement from Demont’s side.”

“Don’t worry. My eyes are sharp,” Vivi replied. Though she might tease Nolan or throw the occasional tantrum, she never treated serious matters lightly.

“Then we’ll conclude today’s meeting here.”

Nolan swept his gaze across the room in summary.

“Get back to your duties. Keep a close watch on Demont’s troop movements. The war could begin at any moment.”

As he spoke, he habitually opened his territory management panel, preparing to allocate resources.

But the instant his eyes scanned across it, a system notification he had long overlooked suddenly jumped into view.

【Korlotis-class core authorization approved… protocol accepted… awaiting activation…】

“Huh?!” Nolan let out an involuntary exclamation, his eyes widening.

Those who had been about to leave were startled and turned back.

“My lord, what is it?” Hank asked, cigar in his mouth.

Nolan didn’t answer. He quickly raised a hand, and in the next instant, a fist-sized metallic sphere engraved with intricate patterns appeared in his palm. Fixing his gaze on the core, he rapidly flipped through previous system logs.

【Analysis complete… bloodline verification passed.】

【Authority confirmed: No. 2, Dragon Legion “Fang of the Dragon God,” Lord Commander-class.】

Lines he had previously ignored came into focus.

“Isn’t that… the core from the golem at the sealed gate?” Ailindel’s clear voice rang out. She recognized the object in Nolan’s hand, her face equally filled with surprise. “Mr. Nolan, you actually brought that out with you?” She seemed to recall something and nodded in realization. “No wonder we left in such a hurry back then. I thought you had only disabled it.”

Nolan’s breathing quickened. He looked up, his eyes gleaming with excitement. “That’s what I thought too! I figured it would take Leus and Anna years—maybe decades—to figure this thing out! But… it looks like I already have the authority to activate it!”

“What?!”

This time, even Ailindel was stunned. But she quickly grasped the key point, a look of understanding flashing in her star-like eyes.

“Ah, I see. It must be because of your Source of the Dragon.” She looked at Nolan with certainty. “The dragon girl you formed a contract with—her bloodline must be extremely noble. Most likely, she is a direct descendant of the upper echelons of the Dragon Legion from our era.”

Looking at the Omnipotence Core, she sighed softly.

“The highest level of authority for this core is also open to the Dragon Legion. You really should thank her properly.”

Nolan thought of Evelyn, the domineering dragon girl, and silently decided it might be better not to tell her about this. Otherwise, he would never hear the end of how much he owed her.

“What is that?”

The others gathered around again, curiously examining the metal sphere.

“Long story short,” Nolan said, suppressing his excitement, “this is a super magitech core created by the ancient Tyrians. It can absorb ambient elements or magical energy as fuel. It has many applications, but its most famous use is… Powering war golems.”

“Yeah, yeah!” Little Donnie perked up immediately, gesturing animatedly. “When we fought that thing, it was a nightmare! It could casually move with Gold-tier strength!”

“What?!”

Hank, Rehanna, and Leus exclaimed at the same time.

The two seasoned warriors wore expressions of shock. A purely artificial construct possessing power on par with elite human fighters—it defied everything they knew.

As for Leus, the alchemy fanatic trembled all over, his eyes blazing as he stared at the core, practically drooling.

A core capable of driving a golem! In both magitech and alchemy, this was a legendary pinnacle achievement.

Their lord… just what kind of monster was he, to obtain so many incredible things?

The Fountain of Potential, the Omnipotence Core, and even the black armor he wore—clearly no ordinary item.

The same thought surfaced in everyone’s mind.

This was far beyond mere luck. Their mysterious and powerful lord held far too many secrets.

Yet instead of unease, that mystery became their greatest reassurance. With such an unfathomable leader guiding them, what enemy could possibly stand in their way?

Nolan had no time to care about their shock. He himself was brimming with excitement.

The Omnipotence Core, Korlotis. Its power lay in far more than just driving golems. If used properly, it could become a strategic-level asset. And now, it rested quietly in his hand.

He had never worked with such a core before. Most of what he knew came from hearsay. He would have to explore and develop its capabilities himself.

A gleam shone in his eyes—the unmistakable excitement of a player who had just acquired a top-tier toy. Unable to contain himself any longer, he raised his hand and declared loudly, “Let’s go! We’re heading out of the city right now. Time to test what this thing can really do!”
