I Can See Through Everything – Chapter 739

Chapter 739: Eight Trials, Each Their Own Choice

“Mo Tushan, what do you mean by this?”

Before the Immortal Palace, Yu Jian asked calmly.

Qing Xi stood beside him, while the disciples of the Heaven-Shattering Sword Sect and the Kongming Sect stood arrayed behind them, ready for battle.

Across from them, Mo Tushan led the disciples of the Black-and-White Temple, blocking their path.

The other factions had all withdrawn to a safe distance, each watching with concealed intent, unwilling to interfere.

To them, the more these great sects fought among themselves, the fewer competitors they would have to face later.

“Nothing much,” Mo Tushan replied lazily, his expression indifferent. “You dogs barked quite loudly outside my cultivation palace earlier. I was busy refining a divine technique at the time and didn’t have the leisure to deal with you. But now, it’s time to settle that debt.”

“Well, well,” Qing Xi said coldly. “So the turtle who hid in his shell now dares to come out and provoke us. Looks like you finished refining that demonic treasure of yours. No wonder you’ve suddenly grown bold.”

Mo Tushan’s eyes narrowed slightly.

A moment later, realization dawned on him.

That day, his heart had been disturbed by that five-tribulation brat, and he had forgotten to silence the few Nascent Soul cultivators he had left gravely injured. Clearly, Yu Jian and the others had learned the truth from them.

He was annoyed, but his expression remained unchanged.

With a cold sneer, he said, “Enough nonsense. Since you dared insult my Black-and-White Temple, I hope you’ve thought about how you want to die.”

As his words fell, a terrifying aura erupted from Mo Tushan’s body.

“You think I’m afraid of you?!”

Qing Xi’s voice rang out, sharp as a sword’s edge, and her killing intent surged in response.

The two forces clashed, creating a violent shockwave that made nearby experts flinch.

“Are they really going to fight?!”

The surrounding factions were shocked.

They had assumed this was just a customary standoff, but now it seemed the three great sects might actually clash in earnest!

And this was right when the Immortal Palace was about to open—the prime moment for exploration.

What truly startled everyone was that Mo Tushan, with only the strength of one sect, dared challenge both the Heaven-Shattering Sword Sect and the Kongming Sect at once.

Did his confidence really come from that demonic treasure Qing Xi had mentioned?

Yet after their initial surprise, the onlookers’ faces lit up with expectation.

After all, if these mighty sects truly fought, no matter who won, all would be weakened—and that would only benefit the others.

“Patriarch, what should we do?” an old man asked in a low voice from the sidelines.

“Wait and watch,” the middle-aged man in the purple dragon robe replied coolly. “We can use this to see what cards these sects hold.”

In the past, he might have feared getting caught in the crossfire. But now, having reached the ninth tribulation of the Nascent Soul Realm, his confidence in his strength had grown absolute. He merely watched with the calm amusement of one observing a play.

After all, he knew that no matter how fiercely these sects fought, the final victor would inevitably be him.

Still, he was curious to see what gave Mo Tushan the courage to challenge two other eighth-tribulation Nascent Soul cultivators at once.

“Oh? The Immortal Palace hasn’t even opened yet, and you’re already itching to fight?”

Just as battle was about to erupt, a teasing voice sounded nearby.

Everyone turned to see Hei Ming and Tao Fairy walking side by side, followed by the disciples of the Netherworld Palace and the Enchantress Pavilion.

Clearly, these two sects had formed an alliance as well.

Their arrival caused the tense atmosphere to pause momentarily.

Mo Tushan’s gaze darkened when he saw the pair.

“Hei Ming,” he said coldly, “don’t tell me the Netherworld Palace intends to interfere as well?”

“Of course,” Hei Ming replied casually. “Yu Jian once did me a favor. Naturally, I intend to repay it.”

He then turned to Yu Jian with a faint smile. “Brother Yu, I have a suggestion. Why don’t we join forces and wipe out these Black-and-White Temple rats together?”

At that, the disciples of the Black-and-White Temple stiffened.

If those four sects truly allied, it would spell disaster for them.

Even Mo Tushan’s demonic aura trembled slightly as he looked toward Yu Jian.

To everyone’s surprise, Yu Jian simply shook his head.

“My Heaven-Shattering Sword Sect will never join hands with demonic sects. Give up that idea.”

“That’s right,” Qing Xi added icily. “We of the Kongming Sect do not trust your kind. Who knows what schemes you’re plotting?”

“Haha!” Mo Tushan let out a loud laugh, his tension easing. “Hei Ming, didn’t I warn you? Why offer your warm face only to be met with their cold backs? Here’s a thought—why don’t the three of us join forces and destroy these so-called righteous sects instead?”

“You’re far too fickle, Mo Tushan. I don’t trust you,” Hei Ming said, shaking his head. “And I already told you—I will never raise my hand against Brother Yu.”

Mo Tushan turned to Tao Fairy.

She merely smiled charmingly. “I’ll listen to Senior Brother Hei Ming.”

Mo Tushan’s gaze turned cold again, but he quickly hid it behind a smile.

“Very well then,” he said. “Seems this battle will have to wait. Yu Jian, Qing Xi, next time we meet, you won’t be so lucky.”

“Next time, I’ll cut you down with my sword,” Qing Xi replied coldly.

The other factions sighed in disappointment.

It seemed the battle they had hoped for wouldn’t happen after all.

But they soon forgot their disappointment as the Immortal Palace began to tremble once more.

A blinding radiance burst forth, turning everything white.

Even their divine senses were drowned in the light, leaving them momentarily blind and deaf to the world.

Having experienced this phenomenon once before, the gathered experts did not panic, merely remaining vigilant.

When the light finally faded, what they saw left them awestruck.

The colossal wall before them had transformed into eight vast gates.

Above each gate swirled a vortex of energy, and above each vortex hung ancient golden characters: Body, Pills, Talismans, Formations, Sword Dao, Mana, Divine Soul, and Laws.

Though astonished, few were truly surprised—this was exactly as their ancestral records had described.

It was said that when the Immortal Palace opened, eight gates would appear, each corresponding to one of the Eight Paths of Immortality.

Within each gate lay a series of trials. Those who passed them would be rewarded by the Immortal Palace itself.

And if one could completely clear a gate’s trials, they would be allowed to enter the true Immortal Palace and claim its greatest fortune.

Unfortunately, according to the records, the Gui Xu Secret Realm had only opened twice before—and not once had anyone ever cleared a single gate to reach the palace proper.

“Just as the ancestral records say—eight gates in total,” Mo Tushan murmured, comprehension flashing in his eyes.

Without hesitation, he led the Black-and-White Temple’s disciples toward the gate marked Body.

Yu Jian and Qing Xi were both surprised.

They hadn’t expected Mo Tushan to choose the Path of the Body.

While it was true that the Black-and-White Temple’s demonic cultivation strengthened the flesh, their expertise extended beyond mere body refinement. His choice was unexpected.

“Brother Yu, which gate will you choose?” Hei Ming asked.

Yu Jian turned to Qing Xi. “Junior Sister Qing Xi, what about your sect?”

“Of course, the Sword Dao,” she replied with a slight smile. “Our disciples all specialize in the sword. There’s no other path for us.”

“Good,” Yu Jian nodded. “Then we can support each other.”

Indeed, while the Kongming Sect might have had other options, for the Heaven-Shattering Sword Sect, there was only the sword.

Together, their disciples strode into the Sword Dao gate.

“As expected,” Hei Ming murmured. “The Sword Dao.”

He looked to Tao Fairy. “And you, Fairy Tao? Which gate will your Enchantress Pavilion choose?”

Her smile was like spring flowers. “We’ve always excelled in the way of the Divine Soul.”

“Then it seems we part ways here,” Hei Ming said.

“Not necessarily,” she laughed softly. “They say the eight gates aren’t entirely separate. At certain junctures, their paths cross. When that happens, Senior Brother Hei Ming, please be gentle—don’t harm me.”

“Naturally. We swore an oath upon our souls, after all.”

Hei Ming turned and walked toward the Laws gate.

His choice stunned everyone.

“He chose the Laws gate?!”

“Does Hei Ming truly cultivate the Dao of Laws?”

“For an eighth-tribulation Nascent Soul, grasping even one law is extraordinary!”

“As expected of the Netherworld Palace’s young master!”

Whispers spread through the crowd. Even Tao Fairy’s eyes flickered with surprise.

“To choose the most profound and unfathomable of all—the Laws Gate… Hei Ming must have great confidence.”

As she watched him and his disciples disappear into the vortex, she finally led the Enchantress Pavilion’s followers into the Divine Soul gate.

Soon after, the other factions began to move as well, each choosing their own gates.

Naturally, most avoided the ones chosen by the five great sects.

Though the records claimed the majority of each gate’s regions forbade combat, few were willing to risk it.

One by one, the sects vanished into the swirling vortices.

Finally, when only the Great Yuan Immortal Clan remained, the man in the purple dragon robe gazed thoughtfully at the eight gates.

He had witnessed every confrontation, every alliance and betrayal.

Good. Let them distrust and undermine one another. The more chaos among them, the more time his Immortal Clan would have to rise again.

“Patriarch, which gate should we choose?” the elder asked.

“The Path of Mana,” the purple-robed man decided. “My mana surpasses all others within this realm. The choice is obvious.”

“Indeed,” the old man nodded. “Patriarch’s nine-tribulation mana dominates all. The Path of Mana suits you best.”

“Let’s go. This Immortal Palace’s fortune shall belong to our clan!”

With that, the Great Yuan Immortal Clan stepped into the Mana gate.

Some time later, several furtive figures approached—those same Nascent Soul cultivators whom Yu Jian had instructed to remain hidden. They too entered one of the gates and vanished.

Once they were gone, silence fell.

Only the eight great vortices continued to spin quietly before the Immortal Palace.

After a long while, another figure appeared—Lu Qing.

“What in the world…?”

He stared in astonishment at the empty expanse before the Immortal Palace and the eight swirling gates of light, each inscribed with ancient characters.

Sensing no other presence nearby, he activated his Spiritual Powers and peered into one of the vortices.

Moments later, understanding dawned in his eyes.

“So that’s how it is. These eight gates each lead to a trial path. Pass one entirely, and you can enter the true Immortal Palace and gain immense fortune. Quite an unusual test…”

After some thought, Lu Qing chose a gate and stepped inside.

As he vanished into the vortex, deep within the Immortal Palace, several ancient wills slowly stirred from their slumber.
