I Can See Through Everything – Chapter 740

Chapter 740: Ancient Wills, Formation Trial, The First Gate

As Lu Qing stepped through one of the portals, it signified that everyone within the Gui Xu Secret Realm had entered their respective trial gates.

At the same time, deep within the vast Immortal Palace, several ancient wills slowly awakened from their slumber.

“Why have I awakened… Ah, I see. The Immortal Palace has opened once again.”

One of the wills spoke first, sounding dazed before realization dawned.

It let out a sigh like the toll of a great bell. “Another hundred thousand years have passed…”

“Indeed, another hundred thousand years gone by,” another aged voice responded, its tone steeped in ancient weariness.

“Hmph. It’s only been a hundred thousand years—barely a few naps for us. Why are you two old fossils lamenting?”

At that moment, a crisp, cold voice echoed disdainfully.

“Mingfeng, you’re still young. You don’t understand the weight of time,” the first will said patiently.

“I’ve already existed for over three hundred thousand years. Still young? You two relics shouldn’t act so superior. Hurry up and do your jobs. If we delay our master’s orders, don’t blame me for being impolite!”

The cold voice snorted, clearly irritated.

“Fine, fine. No need to be in such a rush. Those little fellows won’t pass the trials anyway,” said the bell-like voice with a wry tone.

“That’s true,” the old voice agreed. “The outside world has declined. Talented cultivators are scarce. The last time the Immortal Palace opened, not even one managed to traverse half the path. I fear this time will be even worse.”

“Regardless, you two will carry out the master’s will seriously,” Mingfeng said sharply. “If anything goes wrong, I’ll personally deal with you.”

Though she too believed no one could complete their master’s trials, anything left behind by their master was sacred to her—commands that must be fulfilled flawlessly, even if their master had been gone from this world for hundreds of thousands of years.

“Alright, alright, we’ll begin now,” the two older wills replied hastily, sensing her growing anger.

The old will stirred, and in front of them appeared dozens of shining light screens.

Within these screens were scenes of various cultivators who had entered the trial portals—disciples from every faction within the Gui Xu Secret Realm.

“Let’s see who the little ones are this time,” one of them muttered.

“Hmm… two Nascent Soul Nine Tribulations, eight at the Eight Tribulations stage, and the rest are hardly worth noting. Wait—there’s a Four Tribulations Nascent Soul among them? Alone? Now that’s interesting.”

“A Four Tribulations cultivator?”

Both the bell-like and cold voices showed mild surprise.

In all the times the Immortal Palace had opened—this being the third—they had never seen someone with such low cultivation enter alone.

Given the nature of cultivators, one that weak would’ve been eliminated long before reaching this point.

“That’s the one,” said the old voice.

The screen magnified, revealing Lu Qing’s figure.

“Though his cultivation is low, his blood and vitality are extraordinary. Clearly, he walks the Body Cultivation Path,” the old voice observed.

“He focuses on body refinement, yet he entered the Formation Arts trial?” Mingfeng said, clearly intrigued.

“Precisely why he’s interesting,” the old voice replied. “He has a strong body, yet chose the Formation Path. Could it be that he’s proficient in both?”

“No matter his talent, a Four Tribulations Nascent Soul can’t possibly clear the trial. Let’s focus on the Nine and Eight Tribulations ones,” Mingfeng said coldly, concluding the matter.

The others agreed. Though Lu Qing was peculiar, his cultivation wasn’t worth their attention.

They minimized his screen and enlarged those showing the stronger cultivators. Still, all three wills inwardly held little hope. Even those far stronger had failed miserably in the past.

If not for their master’s decree that the Gui Xu Secret Realm must open every hundred thousand years, they would rather not allow these mortals to desecrate their sacred ground at all.

Even Mingfeng, for all her cold authority, soon found her thoughts drifting elsewhere.

“Master… after all these years, how fare you in the Upper Realm? Why have you never returned?” she wondered silently.

…

“So, the Formation Path has nine trials. Once I pass them all, I’ll reach the Immortal Palace and obtain its fortune?”

Lu Qing muttered to himself, unaware that his every move was being observed.

With his current cultivation, he couldn’t possibly sense those ancient presences.

After entering the Formation Path, a stream of information had entered his mind.

Indeed, he had chosen the Formation Path deliberately.

Though his foundation was solid—with his body, mana, and divine soul all surpassing others in his realm—he was still only at the Four Tribulations stage. Against those at Eight or Nine Tribulations, he would be outmatched.

But the Formation Arts were different. While cultivation mattered, what truly defined mastery here was comprehension.

And comprehension—his greatest strength—was something Lu Qing possessed in abundance, bolstered by his mysterious ability.

Thus, after careful consideration, he had chosen this path.

“In this trial, aside from intersecting junctions, no combat is allowed?”

That bit of information made Lu Qing relax slightly.

A rule forbidding battle worked to his advantage—he was alone, after all, and facing groups of higher-ranked Nascent Souls would have been perilous.

“I wonder which paths the others chose… Mo Tushan doesn’t seem the type to study formations, so we likely won’t cross paths.”

He had no fondness for the Black-and-White Temple, but he reasoned that in the Formation Path, the chances of meeting them were slim.

The disciples of the Heaven-Shattering Sword Sect and the Kongming Sect, clearly sword cultivators, would have chosen the Sword Dao Path.

That left few potential threats in his chosen trial.

With that thought, Lu Qing began to examine his surroundings carefully.

He found himself in an empty white jade chamber. Before him lay a teleportation array—his only way forward.

It was clear that to proceed, he had to enter the array.

After probing it with his special ability and confirming it was safe, he stepped inside.

The space twisted violently, and moments later, he found himself in a strange enclosed space.

Beneath his feet was a three-foot-wide platform, surrounded by countless glowing formation lines that formed nine concentric light barriers around him.

Each barrier carried the power of a Nascent Soul First Tribulation.

At that moment, another message entered his mind.

“Within one hour, use only formation techniques to break the nine-layered barrier surrounding you. Success grants access to the next stage. Failure will result in ejection from the trial, and permanent disqualification.”

Lu Qing quickly understood.

Looking around, he saw that he wasn’t alone—dozens of Nascent Soul cultivators were also trapped within their own nine-layered barriers.

“So the first trial tests everyone in the same space,” Lu Qing noted.

“Someone else just arrived?”

“Could he be one of the failures from another path?” others murmured, noticing him.

They were surprised. The trials had barely begun; it was too soon for anyone to have failed already.

When they saw Lu Qing clearly, their expressions shifted.

“It’s him!”

“The one who fooled Mo Tushan!”

“Hah, figures.”

Many recognized him—after all, few could forget the cultivator who had humiliated Mo Tushan and escaped unscathed.

Some had even tried to track him down afterward, but he had vanished completely.

Apparently, he’d been hiding, waiting until the trials began to slip in under the protection of the no-combat rule.

“Smart brat,” one sneered. “He knows he’s safe here.”

Though fighting was forbidden, that didn’t stop them from memorizing his aura. Once the trial ended, there would be plenty of opportunities.

Lu Qing ignored their gazes. He was well aware of their thoughts but had no intention of wasting attention on them.

Instead, his focus turned to how the others were performing. Many had already broken through several layers of their barriers—some had only one or two left.

It seemed some might soon reach the second trial.

Satisfied with his quick assessment, Lu Qing turned his gaze to his own nine-layered barrier.

He studied the intricate runes for a while before muttering softly, “Interesting… these nine layers may look independent, but they’re interlinked—forming a greater array altogether. No wonder so many are trapped.”

Rather than immediately activating his ability, Lu Qing first analyzed the formation using his own knowledge.

Even without divine aid, his understanding of formations was profound. Soon, he discerned that the nine-layered barrier formed a single “Ninefold Linked Rotation Array,” whose combined strength reached the level of a Nascent Soul Fifth Tribulation formation—an impressive structure indeed.

“To unravel such an array using only formation techniques would require immense understanding,” he mused. “Even for me, it’d take at least a quarter of an hour.”

Of course, Lu Qing had a shortcut.

After admiring the formation’s ingenuity, he finally activated his special ability, gazing into the runes.

Moments later, several glowing characters appeared before his eyes.

“Ninefold Linked Rotation Array? A fitting name,” he murmured with a faint smile.

This array carried an inheritance—one he could download.

He immediately chose to do so. Once it finished, he simulated it in his mind, entering a deep learning state.

As torrents of information regarding the Ninefold Linked Rotation Array filled his consciousness, Lu Qing closed his eyes to absorb it.

No one noticed. Around him, others were too busy frowning, muttering, or using talismans and artifacts to crack their own formations.

Compared to them, Lu Qing appeared completely calm.

No one knew that the “Five-Tribulation brat” was mastering the array with impossible speed.

Roughly half an hour later, Lu Qing opened his eyes.

A flash of brilliance passed through them as his fingers began forming countless hand seals, channeling them toward the barrier before him.
