Chapter 497: Kane's Statement
It seemed Kane had truly gathered substantial intelligence before visiting Punk, as he continued loudly recounting information about the Crimson Sand God:
“Hohohoho, weakness cannot conceal evil, for wickedness is the shared art of all living beings! This ancient deity was no exception—he once controlled tidal waves to submerge towns, altered the flow of the Red Sand Sea to desiccate the Raging Wave Desert, and manipulated marine creatures to frenziedly attack ships, indirectly spurring the development of the airship industry… Yet the Crimson Sand God remained too feeble, ultimately perishing within the very inland sea he solely controlled.
As for the ‘culprit’ behind this deity’s fall, none can say for certain. Perhaps it was the Mage Guild establishing their first branch in Gray Rain Country, or perhaps the God of Water Elements, Vitmeier, in his ambition to unify the Divinity of water elements. Who knows the truth? Who even cares about so-called truths? The Crimson Sand God is dead regardless, these histories lost to the river of time, leaving only fragmented legends of the deity occasionally recited by aging bards in street Alleys…”
“Get to the point! I’ve no time for your bardic games!”
Seeing Kane lapse into poetic recitation again with his flamboyant delivery, Punk immediately cut him off. What he needed was the crux of Kane’s plan, not the ornate rhetoric he considered utterly superfluous.
Kane, however, clearly disagreed. Having fully embraced his self-styled “romantic bard” persona, he pursed his lips and continued his “recitative,” albeit at a slightly quicker pace than before.
“Deities reliant on faith always fantastically believe their followers will worship them even posthumously—the Crimson Sand God was no exception.
During his lifetime, the Crimson Sand deity left behind offspring, preserving his unique divine bloodline in the mortal realm.
He hoped to resurrect himself through followers’ faith and his descendants’ bloodline after his fall… Hohohoho, what a naive god, what foolish belief! Countless fallen deities have attempted resurrection using their bloodlines as anchors—’revival through offspring’ is practically a cliché among gods!
But… throughout history, how many have succeeded? After a deity’s fall, their followers scatter like startled birds, the god’s existence fading into oblivion… A fallen god receives no worship, without worship there is no faith energy, and without faith energy resurrection becomes impossible…”
“So the Crimson Sand God left behind God-Blooded descendants? He actually expected posthumous resurrection?”
Hearing Kane’s description of the Crimson Sand God, Punk’s lips curled into a scornful sneer.”Even if revived, what returns is merely a ‘new god with old memories.’ Such so-called ‘resurrection’ is utterly meaningless! Moreover… expecting to receive believers’ faith after death? What naive deity could possess such childish delusions?”
Regarding the Crimson Sand God’s scheme, Punk could only lament that too many deities were uncultured buffoons.
Gods always arrogantly left behind piles of so-called “contingency plans,” believing their divine status could help them evade powerful enemies and the River of Fate’s judgment. Little did they know the multiverse had long sealed off any opportunistic tricks from mere “slaves.”
Even if a god managed to “revive,” what emerged was merely a “fresh consciousness.” The original deity had already turned to dust the moment it died. Their painstakingly prepared god-blooded descendants, puppets, divine artifacts, and other contingencies were nothing but jokes before the manipulating River of Fate!
After Punk finished speaking, Kane nodded in agreement. The knight then continued with a smile:
“Exactly! Perhaps this ‘Crimson Sand God’ brainwashed its followers so much that its own mind turned foolish. Not only did it leave behind godchildren, it even hoarded massive wealth – two complete Weak Divine Power roles, a barely functional God Realm, at least five units of magical Divinity, plus piles of Legendary-tier equipment and materials… All these were stored in its semi-ruined God Realm. Before dying, the deity set its bloodline as the key, believing full bloodline inheritance could open the God Realm’s gates – keke-keke, this fool not only wanted to resurrect through its godchildren’s bodies, it even hoped the revived self could stage a comeback using these reserves?”
Growing more excited, Kane began lightly hopping in place. Clearly, while mocking the Crimson Sand God’s delusions, the knight was also celebrating the deity’s substantial legacy.
After all, the Crimson Sand God’s resurrection fantasy was impossible from the start. If the adventure succeeded, this terrifyingly massive “inheritance” would be entirely for the adventurers to divide!
Most importantly, judging by Kane’s confident demeanor, it was easy to guess – this knight hadn’t just found the semi-ruined God Realm’s gates, but had also gathered substantial clues about the key.
Nevertheless, Punk still had three major doubts, the first being:
“Kane, legends of the Crimson Sand God have long vanished from the Faerûn Plane. Where did you obtain such detailed intelligence?
Moreover, as I understand, there are only two ways to reach a God Realm’s gates: either directly travel to the Astral Plane to find the realm, or use pre-established ‘anchoring arrays, incantations, or magical items’ to summon it. The first method is obviously impossible for non-Legendary beings like us, so your mentioned ‘God Realm gates’ must have been summoned through the second method… But how did you learn about these ‘specific anchoring methods,’ Kane?”Staring intently at Kane’s face, Punk showed no intention of being easily fooled. Though he desperately desired to obtain Divinity, this didn’t mean Punk had let down his guard. He knew all too well what kind of scoundrel this fellow pretending to be a sunny boy truly was. During their collaboration, the slightest carelessness would inevitably lead to being screwed over half to death!
Seeing Punk’s sharp questioning, Kane’s smile gradually froze on his face.
“Tch, what a hassle. This lord thought you wouldn’t care about these trivial details…”
Slinging his Lance back over his shoulder, Kane’s tone turned somewhat teasing as he slowly said to Punk:
“…Don’t get too arrogant, spellcaster! You’re not the only one who can seize opportunities. For a powerhouse like me who feels utterly miserable without daily death-defying adventures, clearing out one or two ancient Ruins shouldn’t come as a surprise. To be frank! This intelligence and the method to Summon Divine Kingdom Gate were obtained by this lord from the death Ruins of the Crimson Sand God!”
