Chapter 132: Luo Ying the Richest Man

“Mouse Bro, what’s wrong?” his buddy asked when he saw Mouse Bro zoning out.

After returning to Fortunefall Zone, Mouse Bro immediately reported the corpse tide. The higher-ups took it very seriously. Even though he said Luo Ying and Luo Zhu were in Qiyu City, the upper brass didn’t believe two Enhancers alone could resolve a corpse tide—especially when Mouse Bro himself had said the detector picked up a Tier-3 zombie among them.

Mouse Bro was the one most familiar with the situation, so the upper-ups offered him a huge amount of Contribution Points to return to Qiyu City and investigate. He wasn’t exactly a top Enhancer—if the higher-ups wanted to mess with him, his life would get real hard, real fast. So he didn’t dare refuse and had no choice but to grit his teeth and accept.

The higher-ups didn’t plan to send him to his death, though. They assigned several Enhancers to assist him. Mouse Bro’s team went fully geared, driving to Qiyu City. Just now, two figures had flashed by, and Mouse Bro had the strange feeling it was Luo Ying and Luo Zhu. He rubbed his eyes—saw no one—and thought maybe he was just seeing things.

“It’s nothing.”

…

When they reached Qiyu City, the team that had mentally prepared themselves for a one-way trip were stunned speechless. Their jaws stayed open for a long time, thinking they must be dreaming.

It looked like the zombies had just lost a completely one-sided battle. A million headless corpses covered the streets—an overwhelming sight. Most eye-catching of all was the white elephant blocking the intersection like a small mountain.

The whole city was deathly silent.

“Immortals…” Mouse Bro murmured, and the rest of the team subconsciously nodded.

This definitely wasn’t something humans could’ve done.

“Command Center, this is the Temporary Recon Squad,” Mouse Bro quickly picked up the communicator, joy lighting up his face as he reported to the higher-ups.

This was like earning free Contribution Points—no danger at all.

“Go ahead.”

“We found a million zombies in Qiyu City…”

On the other end, the voice hurriedly asked, “What was their movement route? How many Tier-1? How many Tier-2? Any signs of Tier-3? What about their organization?”

“They split up… and, uh, laid down. Not really moving anywhere.” Mouse Bro looked at the unmoving corpses. If discipline was a factor, they were top-tier—if they were told not to move, they really didn’t move.

“What do you mean?” The higher-up frowned. He’d never heard of zombies sleeping. And what was this “split up” nonsense—zombies had tactics now? That was a huge red flag. Their current response strategies might need a full overhaul.

Mouse Bro took a moment to collect his words and tried to describe the situation as objectively as possible, hoping the higher-ups would believe him: “A million zombies in Qiyu City are dead—the cause appears to be decapitation. It’s likely Luo Ying and Luo Zhu did it.”

In his heart, he added: and that ghostly Ancestor, too.

“…”

Of course the higher-ups didn’t believe that nonsense. But there were informants in the squad, and their reports were nearly identical—if anything, even more exaggerated.

After a long pause, the higher-ups finally accepted the truth and sincerely praised Luo Ying and Luo Zhu:

“F***.”

Mouse Bro’s eyes lit up as he stared at the zombies. With no threat left, Qiyu City was a treasure trove. Who knew what kind of good stuff lay buried in the ruins? Word was, there was even a supercomputer here. He couldn’t carry it alone—but now he had a whole squad… actually, they probably still couldn’t move it.

Minor issue.

Even without the materials, just the white elephant corpse could fetch a huge sum of Contribution Points. That was a Tier-3 zombie—the skin, flesh, and bones were all incredibly valuable for research or weapon crafting. The big shots didn’t care about the corpse—but they did.

Mouse Bro rubbed his hands together in excitement. Following these bigshots around, he wouldn’t just get scraps—he might actually get to eat meat.

…

Fortunefall Zone, Contribution Point Exchange Center.

“Stop nitpicking your tasks. You never finish them anyway—hey, look who that is!” someone called out excitedly to their teammate.

The Exchange Center posted all sorts of missions—finding missing family members, clearing Tier-2 zombies in Qiyu City, and so on. Completing them earned Contribution Points. Most of these tasks were hard and required careful selection—otherwise, it was a fast track to death.

The interrupted teammate was annoyed. “What do you mean I never finish them? I try really hard, okay? It’s not that I suck—the missions are just too hard. Who came in, anyway? Don’t tell me it’s Luo Ying… Holy sh*t, it really is.”

As a young man and woman stepped into the center, the noisy crowd instinctively quieted. All heads turned to follow the siblings’ footsteps.

“That’s Luo Zhu? So cute. Totally different from her brother.”

Luo Ying’s fans were quick to defend him: “Luo Ying’s handsome too! You’re just judging by looks. Didn’t you see his manly aura?”

“And that must be the legendary Ancestor? So young… passed away so early… how sad.”

The crowd murmured in low voices.

“Hello, may I ask if the two… three of you are here to sell, buy, or submit a task?” The receptionist’s cheeks flushed red as she tried to control her excitement while looking at her idols.

She’d meant to say “two,” but upon seeing Jiang Li, she reflexively corrected it to “three.”

“I’d like to check how many Contribution Points I have.”

“Certainly, please wait a moment… Mr. Luo Ying, you currently have six million five hundred sixty-eight thousand Contribution Points.”

The crowd collectively sucked in a breath, stunned by the massive number.

“I remember… a Tier-1 brain core is worth 50 points?”

Luo Ying didn’t find his total surprising. Contribution Points, as the name suggested, were based on actual contributions—they didn’t equate to money from before the zombie crisis. Paper bills were now literal trash, not even worth picking up.

Luo Ying’s contributions were immeasurable: creating the Enhancer system, releasing zombie data, predicting disasters, advising a temporary halt on rebuilding the nation and instead focusing on establishing safe zones—and now, stopping a corpse tide. All this had earned him an astronomical sum of Contribution Points.

Luo Ying might well be the richest person alive.

“Yes, would you like to…”

“Buy all the Tier-1 brain cores.”

The receptionist froze, making sure she’d heard that right. Then she gave Luo Ying a professional smile and rushed to the back to get her supervisor. The supervisor also looked panicked and went to find the person in charge. The person in charge scratched his head—he was the highest authority here, no one else to call.

Buying all the brain cores wasn’t a problem in terms of Luo Ying’s points. The problem was that the Exchange Center wasn’t authorized for a transaction of this scale.

The person in charge was pushed out to handle it. Just as he was racking his brain over how to proceed, someone patted him on the shoulder. He looked up and immediately stepped aside.

“Mr. Luo Ying? Miss Luo Zhu? And this gentleman is…” A well-dressed middle-aged man replaced the person in charge.

“Jiang Li.”

The Luo Family’s Ancestor has the surname Jiang?

The man didn’t dwell on that detail. “My surname is Wang. I’m the highest-ranking official in Fortunefall Zone. It’s an honor to meet the heroes of humanity. On behalf of Fortunefall Zone, I welcome the three of you.”

In the previous life, Luo Ying had spent time in Fortunefall Zone and knew of this Wang official. But back then, he was too weak to be granted an audience. This time, Wang personally came to greet him.

“The environment here is less than ideal—would the three of you care to chat in my office?”

Luo Ying and Luo Zhu looked to Jiang Li.

Jiang Li nodded. “Sure.”

It seemed this Jiang Li was the real core of the group. In Wang’s mind, Jiang Li’s status rose even higher.
