Chapter 229: The Life of Xiang Gu
Xiang Gu knelt on the ground. Looking up at the summoned Outer World Demon, he couldn’t help but recall the past thousand-plus years of his life.
He had started off as a lowly scientist, researching how to kill cockroaches aboard spaceships.
Spaceships formed a sealed system in space. So if insecticide were used, the spray would continuously circulate through the air purification system, poisoning the crew.
Xiang Gu believed his research was valuable, but no one recognized its worth.
One day, a weirdo calling himself the Executor of Karma came to find him, saying, “Your research is very valuable. It’s the Gougle Civilization’s values that are flawed and cannot evaluate you correctly.”
To Xiang Gu, it felt like meeting a kindred spirit. He eagerly shared all his years of research.
The Executor of Karma waved his hand and said he came from an advanced civilization. They believed their civilization was the best and all others were trash, and they sought to destroy other civilizations.
As a civilization observer, the Executor of Karma believed Xiang Gu was someone who aligned with their values. If Xiang Gu could destroy the Gougle Civilization according to their methods, he would be recommended and admitted into their advanced civilization.
Destroying a civilization was considered a major achievement. If Xiang Gu succeeded, he would be treated as a superior being in their advanced society.
At first, Xiang Gu thought the Executor of Karma was even crazier than himself, living in a fantasy.
But after the Executor took him out into the void beyond the universe and let him experience the boundlessness of space, he realized how vast the world was. The trillion-light-year-wide universe was just a tiny corner of the void. The Gougle Civilization was nothing more than a pathetic insect that couldn’t even step out of that corner.
He completely believed the Executor’s words.
Xiang Gu worshipped the advanced civilization the Executor spoke of. He worshipped the Executor himself, thinking he was a god.
The Gougle Civilization was blind to talent—it deserved to be destroyed!
He wanted to become a god like the Executor of Karma!
Xiang Gu was just a small scientist. He’d never destroyed a civilization before.
So the Executor patiently taught him, passed on technology several eras ahead of Gougle’s, and crafted a detailed destruction plan. He said the holographic simulator and nutrient solution were key tools—enough to destroy the civilization. Xiang Gu had to develop them exactly as instructed.
Xiang Gu thought the plan was too gentle. It wasn’t destruction—it was paradise!
He asked the Executor if he could just be given weapons of mass destruction and wipe out the civilization directly.
The Executor scolded him severely. “Our advanced civilization must have dignity and compassion. We can’t destroy things recklessly. We must let the lower civilizations die while indulging in pleasure. If you keep thinking this way, forget about joining us!”
Xiang Gu was terrified. He promised to carry out the plan to the letter.
Only then did the Executor ease up. Finding someone willing to destroy the civilization that raised him was not easy. Xiang Gu was ignorant and useless, but he had the advantage of being native.
The Executor had to destroy other civilizations too. He couldn’t stay long, so he needed a local to execute the plan.
He also advised Xiang Gu to control the upper echelons of civilization—not through mind control, but capital.
Destroying a civilization couldn’t be done overnight. It would be a long-term process. Considering Xiang Gu’s incompetence, the Executor gave him a pill, elevating him to the Fusion Stage to extend his lifespan.
The Gougle Civilization’s strongest weapons could only kill Soul Formation cultivators and posed no threat to someone in the Fusion Stage.
Xiang Gu was overjoyed, eager to rip out his heart to prove his loyalty.
The Executor thought, What would I want with your heart? Worthless. But he still smiled kindly and said, “Our civilization already recognizes your loyalty. Keep up the good work.”
After the Executor left, Xiang Gu became Gougle’s top scientist overnight—a superstar.
Watching people flock to praise him, Xiang Gu sneered. All sycophants.
He founded the Feitian Corporation and became its first CEO.
“Feitian” meant he would fly to the advanced civilization.
Decades passed. Xiang Gu faked his death, changed his appearance, and became the second CEO, continuing the Euthanasia Plan.
All ten CEOs of Feitian Corporation were just Xiang Gu in different forms. Finally, during the tenth tenure, everything was ready—all that remained was for people to willingly jump into the trap.
Several times, Xiang Gu wanted to destroy the Gougle Civilization directly, relying on his Fusion Stage power. But remembering the Executor’s warning, he restrained himself.
They got off easy!
Everything went according to plan. When the last person entered the virtual world, Xiang Gu felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.
Seeing rows upon rows of long black boxes, he felt his 400 years of effort had been worth it.
He originally planned to summon the Executor, have him inspect the results.
But then he thought: I have no advantage going into the advanced civilization now. Better to destroy a few more civilizations and build up some credit.
Xiang Gu spent the next thousand years roaming the universe, searching fruitlessly. Just when he was about to give up, he discovered the Mingzhong Civilization.
It was the first time he’d seen a continent floating in space.
He decided to observe first. If it could be destroyed, great. If not, forget it. After all, he was Fusion Stage—he could come and go as he pleased.
With that mindset, Xiang Gu approached the continent—only to find that the Dao Ancestor’s transformed continent was unique. The farther away he was, the stronger the gravity. Xiang Gu was pulled in and couldn’t escape.
“Then I’ll just destroy this place,” he swore.
When Xiang Gu arrived, Jiang Li had already dealt with the fierce beasts. If he’d come a few years earlier, he’d have encountered Jiang Li and the Yin-Yang Heaven Seal scanning the continent for the Dao Ancestor. As a Fusion-Stage cultivator, he would’ve had nowhere to hide.
Xiang Gu was lucky—he escaped that disaster.
But he was also unlucky. Mingzhong had Dao Sect elders stationed there. They were also Fusion Stage. Xiang Gu was so weak, he didn’t dare meet any of them.
He tried to replicate his old plan but hit a wall immediately.
The most advanced tech he had—Mingzhong already possessed.
Unable to think of another method, he had no choice but to proceed mechanically—start from the top.
So he snuck into the Academy of Sciences, took control of the dean, and had him send proposals to Mingzhong, only to be coldly rejected.
With no options left, Xiang Gu summoned the Executor of Karma and asked to be taken back.
The Executor received the message. Xiang Gu said he’d completed his mission and destroyed the Gougle Civilization.
The Executor sent one of his subordinates—a Terrestrial Immortal-level Outer World Demon—through the endless void to kill Xiang Gu.
What a joke. Even his cultivation came from a gifted pill. What use was a person like that?
The mission was done—he was now disposable.
“Too bad Terrestrial Immortals lack rationality. They can only follow single commands.”
The Executor sighed, then turned and bowed to a towering statue.
“Divine Repository Sovereign above—another civilization has fallen.”
