Chapter 230: Appearance of the Outer World Demon

The Mingzhong Civilization fell into chaos, and the people were gripped by panic.

No one knew what had happened, but they felt a sudden terror descend upon them, an inexplicable anxiety, as if a cataclysmic flood was pouring down to cleanse the mortal world.

Though a Terrestrial Immortal-level Outer World Demon had no rationality, it was still a true immortal-grade being. Even without using immortal techniques or divine abilities, its sheer aura alone was enough to make all creatures in the world tremble with fear.

This was the innate advantage of immortals over mortals.

The Dao Ancestor’s modified mount, Aqing, was also at this level. But it had deliberately suppressed its aura, only wishing to guard the Dao Ancestor’s storage ring. Otherwise, its mere presence would have driven the people of the Mingzhong World to despair.

The descent of such a being into any world meant certain doom for that world, with absolutely no chance of resistance.

In comparison, the Nine Provinces World was far too defiant of the heavens, with deep foundations, and had slain dozens of Outer World Demons over nine thousand years.

Xiang Gu bowed before an envoy of an advanced civilization, asking the Outer World Demon to bring him to the higher civilization.

But compared to the Executor of Karma, this envoy was downright ugly and bizarre—no, no, he shouldn’t think like that. Perhaps this was just the unique aesthetic of the advanced civilization. He needed to get used to it ahead of time.

“Honorable envoy, please…” Xiang Gu hadn’t even finished speaking when he saw the iron fist coming closer.

The last thing he saw before dying was a giant iron fist filling his entire vision.

A Fusion Stage cultivator was smashed into a bloody mist by the Outer World Demon, leaving not even a corpse behind.

This Outer World Demon’s appearance was beyond words.

It was humanoid, unclothed, hairless, two to three times larger than an average human, with four arms, each wielding a heavy weapon. Its face was twisted, and its expression constantly shifted—angry one moment, ashamed the next, and then dejected.

The place where Xiang Gu summoned the Outer World Demon was on the outskirts.

“What the hell is this? A hybrid between a human and a beast?”

The national defense chief, watching satellite footage of the demon, furrowed his brows.

This thing was too strange. It appeared suddenly and could even instill fear in him from two thousand kilometers away.

This single monster had thrown all of humanity into fear.

That didn’t make sense.

His years of combat command experience told him that this monster was far more threatening than any fierce beast—it would undoubtedly bring disaster to the world.

The defense chief gave the order.

“Deploy the 92nd Mech Division.” The closest to the Outer World Demon was the 92nd Mech Division, right beneath its feet.

To fight fierce beasts, the Mingzhong World was armed to the teeth—inside buildings, hollowed-out mountains, lakes, and underground. Only the sky was too expensive to arm. Everywhere else was equipped with military units.

The people of this world were ready for total mobilization. When the time came, anyone could pick up a weapon and head to the battlefield to kill beasts.

Battle-hardened troops were ready to move; unmanned mechs rose from underground to the surface in under thirty seconds!

The Mech Division operated under the defense chief’s command. Once he issued orders, the mechs would act on their own, without needing remote control by soldiers.

Each mech held dual light blades—two slashes could slice a savage beast in half. But they couldn’t do anything to the Outer World Demon, not even leave a scratch.

“Fire the Solar-Flare Missiles and the Annihilation Cannon.” The defense chief made a snap decision, deploying their last-resort weapons.

“But using these weapons in the suburbs—the shockwaves will kill nearby residents!” a subordinate exclaimed. Even if they killed the monster, the defense chief would be court-martialed.

Eyes locked on the main screen, the defense chief ignored the warning. In military matters, his orders were absolute.

If not now, then what—wait until the monster rampaged through the city?

The Solar-Flare Missile launched, shooting a temperature rivaling the sun’s core into the sky, melting everything in its path.

The Annihilation Cannon fired. Centered on the explosion point, all surrounding matter dissolved into invisible atomic dust.

“Report! There’s still movement!”

The Annihilation Cannon left no smoke, allowing them to clearly observe the demon with the naked eye.

The monster’s skin wasn’t even broken!

The defense chief gritted his teeth: “Bring over all the nearby Solar-Flare Missiles and Annihilation Cannons. Detonate them all! I don’t believe this thing can’t be killed!”

If this monster was more dangerous than fierce beasts, then of course weapons that didn’t work on beasts wouldn’t work on it either—but the defense chief was afraid.

Only continuous firepower could suppress the fear in his heart.

He clenched his teeth. “Also, contact the President. Request help from the Nine Provinces World.”

He kept telling himself, the Solar-Flare Missiles and Annihilation Cannon would work—asking Nine Provinces for help was just a precaution.

These attacks didn’t hurt the Outer World Demon at all, but they did piss it off. Sensing the satellites, it shot into the sky, intending to destroy this electronic eye before causing havoc in a nearby city.

“Get down, you. That thing’s too damn expensive.” Jiang Li appeared, kicking the enraged, airborne demon back down. The ground shattered like glass, triggering a magnitude 12 earthquake.

The satellite, designed to operate farther from the surface where gravity was stronger, cost astronomical amounts to build.

“Nine Provinces Human Sovereign!” the defense chief recognized Jiang Li.

“Look—no damage to the city, no casualties.” A subordinate switched to footage of the nearest city. “It seems something blocked everything, even the quake didn’t reach the city.”

…

“Your military’s ruthless—but your decision wasn’t wrong. Better to act than sit and wait for death.” Bai Hongtu stood at the edge between the city and the suburbs, erecting a Grand Formation to block the residual heat.

Bai Hongtu agreed with the defense chief’s actions—strike even knowing you can’t win.

The first time an Outer World Demon descended upon the Nine Provinces, the cultivators there had the same idea. Whether they could win or not didn’t matter—don’t wimp out, just attack.

Unlike the Mingzhong World, though, Nine Provinces cultivators could actually kill Outer World Demons.

“So that’s an Outer World Demon?” Mingzhong was stunned. He had heard the name for years but was only now seeing what they looked like.

Using presidential clearance, he viewed satellite footage.

It sure looked thrown together.

Bai Hongtu explained, “Outer World Demons take many forms. I’ve even seen ones with four arms and four legs crawling like spiders. Ancestor Changcun once said, Outer World Demons feed on the negative emotions of living beings. Since birth, they absorb such emotions, which is why they look hideous, have chaotic thoughts, and no rationality.”

Mingzhong also saw the demon kill a man.

Bai Hongtu sneered, “That was Xiang Gu. Served him right.”

The moment the Outer World Demon appeared, he unleashed his divine sense and saw both Xiang Gu and the demon.

Mingzhong asked worriedly, “Can Mr. Jiang really defeat the Outer World Demon?”

Though he’d seen Jiang Li fight the Dao Ancestor’s immortal corpse and knew his strength, the Outer World Demon seemed equally terrifying. He couldn’t tell who was stronger.

“What you should be asking is—does the Outer World Demon even have a chance to act in front of Jiang Li?”

Once Jiang Li appeared, the inexplicable fear vanished. People in the city noticed the commotion on the outskirts. Even if they didn’t go themselves, they could see the battlefield through telescopes and high-zoom cameras. Some even tried to hack into the satellites.

Bai Hongtu kindly asked, “Do you want me to activate the vision-blocking formation?”

“No, the disturbance caused by the Outer World Demon is too massive—there’s no way to hide the news. Might as well use this chance to announce the Nine Provinces World.”

Mingzhong forcefully pushed the satellite footage to every quantum processor, letting the whole world see what was truly happening.
